Hello

Have been getting my little 'pulses/tics' this week but I don't think I've had any today :(

Was just about today take myself out of panic mode but today has been odd. Hoping my little one makes some movement tonight to reassure me.

This is so hard, I really want to enjoy being pregnant.

When I first felt mine, I was chuffed and a lot fo the girls said not to panic
if you don't feel anything for days... believe me chicks in a few weeks - I'd say about 2 ALL you will feel are kicks and moving around.. you'll wonder why you were worrying.

Thanks Caz

Have taken the day off as I know I'll just spend all day at work worrying !

It's so hard to know what to think having never done this before !

5 days until my scan. Hope baby is just having a rest and will make her/him self known to me today.

I can't remember what sparked mine off. Think just lying down and concentrating hard !!!
LO used to like me feeding it and even know after I've eaten it sparks off movement. It is worrying chicks - put it this way - this worry will NEVER go away. I'm 36 and my mum frets about me, it's natures way of setting you up for it !!
Think we'll be much more calm on the next PG :]

First baby movements

Has anyone been able to feel their little angels first movements? what did it feel like?, as I am sure I felt something like gurgle feeling in my stomach, as though gas moves along...

I felt mine first time properly like a kick at about 18 weeks but before that i felt "bubbles" which sounds like what you are feeling!

It feels like gas bubbles or like a butterfly fluttering around or like a little goldfish swimming against the bowl :) You'll 'think' that it could be it and then you'll suddenly have no doubt :]

Was that baby?

I've felt flutterings and little bubbles in my tum for a few weeks - not all the time. But last couple of days I felt like loud (for your tummy) rumblings in your tummy like when you are hungry. Was that baby moving? Can't think what else it was as it was so different from anything I felt before.

RE: Was that baby?

My first feelings were like little bubbles (like when you see little fizzy bubbles in a glass, if you imagine how that would feel, oh dear hope that makes sense!!!!!) and tiny flutterings, and then they got firmer, and now I think the baby is doing a full on aerobics session in there sometimes!!!!!!!

It's magical when you first feel baby move, enjoy it!

Sounds just like it to me. My first ones were stronger when I lay on my left side for some reason in bed - felt like someone was tickling me from the inside! Its such a lovely feeling.

I have the same Emilia, tickling. It has now progressed to feeling like big drops of water landing on the top of my hand. Last night my sweetpea must have been having an argument with the cord and was kicking and punching away like crazy. Such a lovely feeling. Bump is starting to itch now, probably due to stretching.

No, you can't hear baby moving, that's certainly just wind.

The popping and flutters, tickles and taps sound very much like your baby Lorraine :))

Angelsmummy & Singing Nun you are both around the time I fel bub for the first time & it was like a flutter. Then came the bubbles feeling.

Now feel bub every day many times a day, still not like a proper kicking yet like I thought it would be but more like someone flicking you on your hand or arm, but it feels stronger as the days go by. Sometimes I see my stomach more slightly too. It such a lovely reassuring feeling

Oh Lorraine - you must be so pleased to hear your little one moving about!

In the past week I have had little flutterings - almost like a fly landing on your tummy and a need to itch. Wasn't sure if it was my stomach stretching or whether it was the baby though!

She is even more active now. Feel it lots. No kicks (except maybe once that might be kick or her moving over) but lots of movement. Was a night time chick and now day time also! It will be nice when I can def say she is kicking etc! Friends keep saying that their babies would stick their feet out etc so you can see their bodies literally moving around ... now that is funny!

just wondering how much everyones little bubs is moving - mine used to move around before bed time, but now i get a few twinges through out the whole day and was wondering if that was too little. is there like some set amount? getting a bit worried as its activity seems to have decreased. any ideas?

I dont always feel mine kicking, where is your placenta? mine is Anterior and this will cushion the kicks...... I have worried myself, even when going for scan I cant feel them kicking but once you are there you can see them wiggling around (if you know what I mean)

If at all you get too worried then you should contact your midwife to be on the safe side chuck.

Like Melanie said it does depend on where the placenta is as to how many you will feel. I think you should feel at least 20 kicks a day and if your worried in any way you should contact your midwife asap and they will do a check and give you a kick chart for you to monitor how many kicks you are getting.

If you are an active person you may not be aware of many of your LO's kicks as basically your mind is on other things.

YOu could have a sweet drink and go and lie on your bed for a while to see how much movement you get, that used to get my LO moving when I was worried.

Don't worry mrsantro, I went through the same thing. a few days on and off, she or he is still small and sometimes, as others have told me, the placenta can cushion the kicks. Everything is normal - wait until 26 or so weeks, you will be getting kicked to kingdom come! 8)

Hi

I have an anterior placenta and mainly feel movement very very low down (like she's dancing on my bladder). At my 24 week appt, my midwife told me I should feel 10 'movements' a day but if there was a 24 hour period where I didn't feel anything then to ring her and she would be straight over to check.

Some days she is very quiet but yesterday she kicked the bejesus out of me what felt like all day. She only calms down when hubby tries to feel a kick and then she goes mysteriously quiet!!

Take care

Toffee - ours is the same... it can be very busy until DH puts his hand on my tummy, then all quiet! Sneaky little thing!

I feel it moving on and off every few hours or so, sometimes a lot, and sometimes just a little bit. I love to feel it move! :D

after not feeling a lot and having the same worries - last two days my bubs has been dancing around - i guess he/she is bigger now and i can feel more - and when you put your hand on my belly you can feel it from the outside....so i guess the anterior placenta is now just being kicked out the way! - my little one like to spring into action when i go to sleep....

10 movements mean any type of movement - and i guess its easier to miss the smaller ones - so just try not to worry and keep and eye on things...as time goes on you will feel more....

I used to have a cold glass of water if I wanted to put my mind to rest she would have a jig about shortly afterwards, but if you feel unsure then just call your MW or maternity day care unit and they will always have a check of your babies heart or ring you up to a monitor.

It's hard to know if you have had 10 good movements especially as they get bigger as the kicks turn to movements and wiggles!

Sorry about the late reply Elmo, congrats on the movement, have you had anything since?

I have been feeling things, but I am not 100% convinced its not wind- LOL. Its very strange and I have never felt anything like this before, but as soon as I question it, the bubs wont do it again for a while to confirm!
Comforting feeling though isnt it?

Yippee Elmo!
I felt a weird sensation Tuesday night but sure it must be wind or something as too early according to the books. Was like butterflies in my pelvis not my tummy then like a tiny snake zig-zagging on the left hand side. Only happened twice and not since but I liked the thought it may have been! :D
