Early Scans

Hello hope everyone is keeping well.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how many weeks along they were when they got their first internal scan?

I had my egg collection on 26th Feb and went for my first scan wed past. They said i was 7 weeks. But when they scanned me all they could see was a sac with an outline of a yolk.
Friends who have done ivf 7 times have said that by reading the dates i am only approx 5 weeks along and far too early to see anything. They never ever had a scan this early..

Anyone else have this experience?

Im devastated and have to wait until next thurs to go and be rescanned again. I have completed 6 pregnancy tests since i first did one on 11th march and all are coming back positive, have all the symptoms as in sore boobs, growing boobs, expanding wasitline, sickness, adverse to smells, sleeping all the time and have had not one spot of blood or brown discharge throughout.

This is the calculator I used when I was pg to calculate due dates: ivf-infertility.com | Calculating the due date of delivery it will also tell you how far along you are.

Hope that by next Thursday you have better news xx

Hi, I had my first scan when I was 7 weeks pregnant.

Egg collection is considered ovulation so you would add an extra two weeks on to find out how many weeks you are.

I hope you have better news Thursday. X

Try not to worry while you wait as early scans can be too early, if you see what I mean. xfingers for the next scan.

I know it's difficult. It's better to wait a little longer so the scans are clearer. Believe me I know how hard it is! babydust

So went on thrus past to the early pregnancy unit and got scanned again.
The staff were really lovely there and took their time with the scan. Flip i was on the couch for around 30mins and being scanned the whole time.

This time they showed a yolk sac! The sonographer asked was the scan different from the one i got the other week and i said yes night and day as there was nothing at all in the gac sac the first time. They didn't have my notes or the previous scan measurements as the fertility clinic didnt send them up as promised.

Unfortunately tho as 8wks 2days she felt not to get my hopes built up as by now she should be able to see a fetal pole and baby but all that was there was a overly large yolk sac. It measured 11mm x 9mm. Most viable pregnancies the sac measures around 5-5.5.mm.

She said again i had to wait another 2 weeks to come back up to them to be scanned again and then they could make a decision.
Oh the waiting is driving me insane. I hate the unknown although in my hearts i feel it isn't going to be a good outcome.

I'm glad that they were thorough. I will keep everything crossed for you. I guess in these situations it is good to prepare the worst and hope for the best. I certainly shall be wishing you the best. Xx

Thanks for the well wishes and thoughts ladies.
Unfort thursday wasn't to be as we had previously expected. This time they couldnt find the gac sac or the yolk sac that they had seen two weeks previous. But they did find signs of a molar pregnancy.

so off to hospital for me on tues to have a d&c and then get the tissues sent for testing then 4 weeks or so to wait for results then take it from there.

Thanks for the support and good luck to the rest of you on your journey x
