IDENTICAL TWINS- ( MCDA TYPE)

Hi folks I had my appointment today, very long and detailed scan and consultant appointment. I'm 17 weeks +1. My twins are 'MCDA identical twins which means they share a placenta but have there own sac. One of the twins is a wee bit smaller than the other which has changed quite a bit since my last one 2 weeks ago when they were almost the same. There is nearly 2oz between them now which is worrying. I've been told not to worry at the moment but they gave me a booklet and said there is a risk of twin to twin transfusion syndrome but I don't have this at the moment. I've been told to take a high protein diet, and also take high calorie supplement drinks ( I'm not underweight) but they feel These will help. I've also to rest, so no work for me just now  and to get weekly dopplers. Has anybody been in this situation with identical twins, or even heard of this before? I actually feel surprisingly calm. It was lovely to see my wee babies wriggling about.. And I found out I am having PInk Twincesses! bab21 bab21

I have no experience of what you are going through my twin experience ended in a singleton in my first trimester but I didn't want to read and run and of course I wanted to congratulate you on your twincesess! How exciting!

Staying calm sound the best thing for now as all is OK at the moment, only worry when and if you have to.

Good luck. Xxx

Thanks ladies it was a bit of information overload yesterday! The good thing is that both girls umbilical cords have 3 vessels and sometimes in these kind of twins one of them only has 2 which can lead to the twin to twin transfusion syndrome so I'm hoping that's a good thing, and the smaller one will catch up. They did say if it looks like they are going to be born early then they will arrange at a later date for us to be shown round the neonatal unit.
My poor man went green at that point... ;( anyway I've to rest until next week then hopefully I can get up and about again...until then, my mans on the fry ups : D xxx

Ah wow congratulations on your twincesses! How lovely to be on team pink!

No experience of this but stay calm, and follow the advice. Although mine are a bit bigger now there are 3oz between them and although the scans do their best sometimes you just get a better angle with one than the other and that can make a big difference

Thank you Gingerbean, that actually helps a lot. I've tried not to stress too much about the size thing. They did say there not too concerned just now but would know more if the size difference increases but I'm trying to be positive and I have a feeling everything will be ok. Maybe I've gone from one extreme to another-stressing out my box to total denial..ah well.
I hope your keeping well Yourself xx

Thank you Hayley, it's great that you know all these folk. It's came in very handy to me!
I have another scan on Friday but I'm really hoping and praying it won't develop in to ttts. If it does and I need some advice I will definitely get in touch. Thanks so much xx
