Hi Lulu

Wow they are amazing pictures, so clear.

If you don't mind me asking (and showing my thickness here) how do you get pictures like this? Is it something you can pay for privately?

It's just that I am keeping a memory album containing memoribilia/pictures along with a diary from our IVF journey and also pregnancy to show baby when they are older the miracle of how they were conceived.

I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea but my Dad was brought up on complete lies for most of his childhood, believing his grandmother was his mother when his real mother had actually died and his father abandoned him. It really has affected him badly throughout his entire life and we vowed to be totally open with any children we have about their origins.

Pictures like this to put in when I am at that stage would be amazing.

Thank you

Hi We've settled on Ruby and Sebastian (seb) for our names I really like Kitty for a girl as well after my fav book pride and predijuce but my dh doesn't like that!!!!

The scans were paid for privately do a google search on A 4D baby, there might be one near you we it's well worth the money and i'm always looking at my pictures. I've kept every scan picture from little dots to now and am going to write a story of how our little ones came to be so they can be read it and understand just how special they are. Am going to do one for each baby in a little journal xxxxxx

29 week scan

Hi, I had a 29 week growth scan today and fainted whilst they were doing it. Have felt sick and faint all day since. Cannot lay on my back as just go out cold, has this happened to anybody else?????? Am now dreading 32 week scan in case I do the same. Both babies growing well little boy is mm's smaller. Little girl is head down and in position ready to go. Also am suffering terribly with heartburn and if i burp am sick (sorry tmi) Gaviscon isn't helping, even eating little and often is difficult. And to top it all by HB (blood level) is just below average and dont know what to eat to bring level up. Any advice from anyone would be fab xxx

Yes! I had lots of scans at the end of my second pregnancy and at the last one (singleton 37 weeks so possibly a similar sized bump to you?) I blacked out about 10 times in one sitting. We had finished the diagnostic phase and the sonographer was trying to get a nice picture for me but every time I lay back the black mist would descend and off I would go. I remember vividly the red floor and yellow walls becoming vivid and then black and white until they eventually disappeared and I said quietly (with a sweaty upper lip) "I feel a bit funny!" :D No amount of sitting up and lying back down was helping so we called it a day.

You have a major artery running down between your back and your babies. Every time you lay down the babies squish the artery and your brain stops getting oxygen which makes you black out.

Don't worry about your next scan, if you explain what happened this time the sonographer will be able to help you out. You may still have to lie on your back but for shorter periods, semi-supine or on your side.

Heartburn, drink water (no citrus) before your meal, eat, take your Gaviscon straight after religiously and when in bed turn over very very slowly so that the fluid doesn't splash about. Imagine you're balancing a glass of water on the quilt and turn over accordingly. You'll soon start waking slightly before you turn.

Cheers Bells that's a great help. Your story sounds exactly like mine today. The sonographer kept getting in a muddle about which baby she was measuring and was pushing hard with the scanner. Every time I layed down descended into a cold sweat, my eyes had dot's and felt so sick. Of course had to keep sitting up but they dont help you and it's very difficult to sit up with a big bump from laying flat. Kept drinking water and then was laying on my side quite alot but she couldn't see the babies properly so had to go on my back, oh it was so awful I hate feeling like that. Was in my nurses uniform too so must of looked like a right wimp, had to be sent home from work cos my colour just drained!!!! It's the Aorta I think that gets squashed, needless to say i've cancelled a routine dentist appointment for a few weeks time. Am not putting myself through that in the dentists!!!!

Yes, it's the aorta and the vena cava that squish. It's really common and is the reason why you shouldn't lay on your back at all in pregnancy.... I never had a problem in my first pregnancy but with the second I was rubbish at lying down.

Your dentist can angle the chair and light to look in your mouth. Your teeth and gums can really suffer during and after pg so please go and explain that if you lie down you'll pass out. Your dentist won't want to risk that and can still have a look at your peggies.

YOu can lie on your side for scans i have had to from 28 weeks, one of our twins is smaller then the other, had been since 7 weeks.

If you can drink milk i found it made my h/burn and sickness loads better, also eat at table with a good posture helps food go down,

Spinich, broccoli and red meat help with iron, are you on tabs????

Hope you feel better soon

eating before you feel hungry (if that makes sense) helped settle my sickness in the end, I found if I got the first rumbles of hunger that sickness would quickly follow to the point where there was no point eating anything as it wouldn't stay down. Pregnancare tablets are packed with nutrients if you an't face veg, but as Diddle says spinach, broccoli, brussels and red meat are excellent for your iron levels :))

Hope that it all settles down soon

... or it got to the point where eating was as impossible as scaling Mount Everest in a pair of flip flops.

Missy is absolutely right. If you let yourself get hungry you've gone too long. It's a catch 22 situation as the though of eating makes you ill yet if you don't eat it's a hundred times worse. Shoving a slice of wholemeal toast down your neck is enough to stave off the head spinning, stomach churning, get-me-away-from-anything-that-smells-or-I'll-cry ickyness that starts before you open your eyes in the morning and lasts until you drop off at night.

RE: 29 week scan

Lulu,

OMG! hope your feeling better now. I never fainted with my twin preg but did have very low blood pressure for a long time & was told to take iron tablets throughtout. & as Missy says eat before you get hungry, I felt dizzy but was due to low BP & eating later than I should have. Heartburn never had it SORRY doesn't help, my friend sweared by Tum Tums, have you tried these? or extra strong mints suppose to work?

my twins, one was always smaller than the other & I worried every day, but all babies are smaller than each other, Molly has always been the smaller one & theres a pound difference between them now.

Your preg is going so fast, hope you ok.

I had everything done by 32 wks & changed everything, theres some tips on what to pack somewhere, I will have a look for you later, but for us twin mummies, double of everything! & try to pack for longer as if you need a c-section then you will be in for 5-6 days. I was in for 6 days but hopefully you won't have to have one, your DH can always bring stuff in, I gave my DH a list every other day!!

32 Week Scan

Hi all had my 32 week scan and pleased to say that both babies are doing extremely well. Both above average for size, and the great news is that they are both in position head down (ie both Cephalic) lets hope they stay that way.

I on the other hand am a little down in the dumps, the consultant told me I should be resting but how can I when dh is thousands of miles away and i'm on my own!!! I just want him home with me now. Its only 3 weeks till he can get his flight but i'm really struggling. Have low backache and constant Braxton Hicks today, which freak me out cos i'm so scared if I go into labour without him here. Last night I got 2 hours sleep, nothing is touching the heartburn, and my feet are mildly swollen so all boots, shoes etc uncomfortable!!!!

I'm having about 4 episodes of Braxton HIcks an hour is this normal??? I thought they were only occasional, I've still 6 weeks to go, i'm alone and scared!!! What a wimp!!!!!

The good thing is that I had my Works Baby Shower last night and got so many things, i'm so lucky I was totally overwhelmed people are so generous. I was really lucky and got 2 Bumbo's which are fab, shoes, outfits, toys, bibs, nappies, toiletries, must have about 50 presents!!!! Gonna put them all in the bags for dh to open when he gets home so he doesn't feel left out. Sorry for rant Hope everyone else all ok xxxxx

Aww that is lovely of your work colleagues, at this stage it seems surreal to have all these things and a big bump to imagine that in a short while you'll meet your babes!

I'm sure they will hang on in there, yuo've got 2 little heads pushing down and causing some pressure but I'm sure they'll stay put, I had strong BH's all the time, morning noon and night from around 20 weeks, on monitoring them the MW's and consultant were convinced I'd have premature labour but as it turned out an induction was needed to coax her out! :D

Hang tight now hun, you must rest - can you knit? do crosswords? read? anything that will keep you mentally stimulated but physically relaxed? :))

Hi Girls thanks for replies, i've been having the BH's for about 3 days now, touch wood they seem to have settled down today!!! I think i'm just worried that dh wont be here. Managed to speak to him last night and he's gonna try and get home a bit earlier. I'm sure there is somebody in the British Army that can replace him out there, unfortuantly no one can replace him here!!!

I'm so sad i've put all the pressies back in their gift bags so dh can open them all I didn't want him to feel left out!!!!

I finished work last week but i'm not the sort of person to just sit down i'm used to running around looking after people not people looking after me! But i've been told off by all of my friends who are coming round today on mass exodus to make sure I sit still. They are bringing lunch, DVD's etc etc dont know what i'd do without them!!

Well consider sitting down and resting looking after your babies then! :D

Hi Lulu

Can't believe your 32 weeks - it's getting so close!

I have had bh's - the first time was in the middle of the night on the loo and I just thought - 'What the friggin hell was that!', since then I have had a few - each time I think OMG that was one of those horrid things again!!!

The other evening I had quite a few - was really panicked as was sure was gonna go into labour, but haven't had any since. it is worrying though.

I do really feel for you - you must be missing dh so bad. It will just make the time you are together even more special - my dh has totally lost interest, think's I'm mad cause I talk about her all the time and I can see now that I am begining to annoy him when I wince or say ooh, I've just been kicked.

I hope your 3 weeks fly by hun, you'll be on top of the world when he's home.

Your friends all sound so great - you are very lucky. My bf lives almost 300 miles away and most of my other friends I don't see too often anymore as everyone is always so busy and caught up with their own lives.

Don't be too down in the dumps - you have an awful lot going for you.

Thanks for your lovely message lisa, I dont really feel fed up I suppose, just know I would relax 100% if dh was home, I just dont want him to miss this or indeed go through it without him!!!

My friends are actually drving me insane but in a way that's hilarious, at my baby shower 1 friend got so drunk that the next morning at my scan she threw up in the carpark with everybody looking at us!!!! Bless her I just told them it was morning sickness and rushed her to the loos were she stayed my whole appointment.

Then the next day another friend offered to come round and said she'd bring food with her. Oh I've just had all my carpets steam cleaned cost me £60, well anyway was sitting on the sofa heard the front door open a loud crash many expletives and the sound of copious amounts of liquid flying everywhere!!!!! She had tripped up the step holding 2 large cokes from BK well it went up the walls (newly decorated) up the door and all over my newly cleaned carpets!!!!! She then sat in a heap crying saying that she was supposed to be making things easier for me I couldn't help but laugh even now when I think of all the noise and commotion it makes me laugh!! I seriously have friends exactly like the ones in Bridget Jones, but the 1 worry is, they all want to babysit!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Lulu - PMSL

Your drunk friend sounds like the non-pg me! That's something I would do.

Does that mean you have a large brown stain on your lovely clean carpets?

Luckily whilst said friend was crying in a heap on the floor holding 2 empty coke cups I managed to skirt around her with some carpet cleaner and many teatowels, water etc etc and luckily the carpet is quite dark so looks like a shadow!!!! There I was on all fours scrubbing with her crying in a really whiney voice saying "i'm supposed to be helping you"!!!!! Absolute pure comedy!!!!!
