advice on the endometrail scratch please. . .

Hey..seen in the belfast telegraph about a trail they were doing on couples going through fertility treatment that had the endometrail scratch done and its been proven to boost live births by 20%!...so im curious about this now and wondered if anyone had this done? if it worked for them? What the pain was like etc as im definitely considering getting this done with my fet cycle next year

Hi Da berries,

I had an endometrial scratch done for my last cycle - am currently on the 2WW so don't know if it has worked yet! My consultant does think it helps with implantation and I know from being on this site that a lot of other physicians believe in it too. There's quite a few ladies on here that have had it done.

I won't lie though in that I did find it a bit painful. However, it is very quick, with only very mild, period type cramps afterwards that also disappear after a couple of hours. You can ask to have sedation though.

I hope this helps - good luck with your FET.

I had it for my last cycle which was my first and only pregnancy! So I recommend it, especially as it's fairly inexpensive.

I had it at the same time as a hysteroscopy so difficult to say.. Plus I was in Prague with a flight home booked for the same day! I panicked a bit and had some sedation so no it didn't really.

Long story! I was having treatment there so it made sense to have the hysteroscopy there. Various reasons just wanted to try treatment abroad, it is much cheaper.

Hi ladies,

I have just had my first IVF cycle which failed, so looking into new ideas to enhance my next cycle, I had an appointment at my clinic NHS funded cycle and they don't do endo scratch but are happy for me to pay private and incorporate it into my next cycle. My consultant said its best to be done on day 21 up to a week after, so the ideais to have it 3-4 weeks before ET for best results. Rb happy to be corrected if yours wasn't in this time frame.

Also Rb I would like to know how you found treatment in Prague and what made you choose this clinic? This would be my next plan, 1 because its cheaper and 2 because both you and OW have got your BFP results from this clinic and other forums people who have gone there seem to have got good results.

Any advice on Prague greatly received :xxx:

I would definately reccomend the scratch ladies. After 5 failed tx i had the scratch on my 6th and im now 10 weeks pregnant.
Im sure the scratch played a part in my bfp.
It does hurt a bit, but as soon as you think ouch... its done. Very quick procedure and cost me £275. Very cheap compared to the overall amount we have spent along the way.
I didnt have sedation, as my clinic dont offer it for the scratch, but in truth the procedure is so quick i didnt really need it.
My scratch was done on day 23 of my cycle.. i started down regging next af.
X
