Newbie questions

Hi all

I am new to the process. We have tried for a 2 years for a baby with no success. Hubby is 32 and i'm 36. Had all the investigation done and they can give us no reason for non preganacy. Start my injections today a little nervous as hate needles but its a small price to pay. Heard lots of negative stories re the possible side effects, my question to people that have done. This part of the process is, are the side effects really that bad? Any tips or hints on how to great through it? Also is it ok to continue to go to the gym etc and stay active?
Grateful for any advice ?o(

Hi Pinklady and welcome to FZ. What injections are you on? Once you have done the first couple they get so much easier, honestly. It's more the fear of it than the actual pain of the injection. I got a few side effects from Buserelin but was just tiredness, headaches etc.

Wishing you loads of luck for your treatment. You have come to the right place, this site is fantastic and so supportive. Pop in here SEPTEMBER SURPRISES to chat to people cycling now too xxx

Hi Pinklady,

Welcome to FZ!

I'm sure you will love it here as there are lots of ladies to talk to and answer any questions. FZ has been a lifeline to me as I find it very difficult to talk to anybody about treatment - on here it's very easy as we are all going through similar things.

Regarding side effects, it depends what you're taking but the worst side effect I have had was headaches from buserelin (and I've taken lots of different things now!!). You do tend to feel a bit bloated just before egg collection but nothing that reaches anything beyond slightly uncomfortable.

I remember when I first started treatment, having exactly the same fears and, to be honest, I think this was because I'd seen people go through ivf on tv drama shows where they always showed the woman being very tearful and angry as a result of the hormones - I can honestly say that this has never happened to me, well nothing more than my usual hormone/emotion changes that happen every month anyway! rotf

Wishing you lots of luck with your journey.

Connie xx

Hi pinklady

Welcome! Like the others have said, I did have some side effects when on buserelin, but nothing too much to worry about. I did get night sweats which were not so great and was incredibly thirsty. Nothing a drink and a shower couldn't fix!

Come over to the September surprises and join us, I'm cycling at the moment too and there are some lovely ladies on the thread that will help guide you through.

Good luck! Xxx
