Small Bleed 5w5d still BFP Today

Hi

Yesterday I had a scare at work when I realised my pantyliner was partly covered in blood. Sorry if TMI but it didn't flood the pantyliner and it was pale pink and brown. Not bright red and no clots and no cramping.

I came straight home to bed. I called the nurses and they said just not to take the clexane last night and then to call them today.

I have taken another test today and it was a much stronger test than last week. The line came up quicker than the control line and after the allotted time it was a valid test with the preg line stronger than any other.

I have not had any more spotting or bleeding since.

I have gone from being calm and just feeling good to unsure and dreading the scan in 2 weeks.

If a pregnancy is lost do hpt still show strong lines? I appreciate it would take a while for the hormones to drop but wouldn't expect the test to get stronger -? Am going to buy some more tests today and will do another in a few days.

Does anyone know if a miscarriage starts really gradually or if once bleeding starts it is apparent what is going on? I had a suspected miscarriage years ago and it was a complete flood over a very short time.

Any advice much appreciated. It has taken me so long to get here ?o(

HI hunni,
I am sorry you are having this worry. Bleeding in pregnancy can be normal, especially after all the treatment and the drugs, and as there was not much blood I would not worry. But I know that's not easy- check this:BLEEDING IN PREGNANCY
I know plenty of people that have had bleeds and then a normal pregnancy, however I feel it is always best to get checked out. I would also stay away from the HPT as they are only saying you have HCG in your urine, which may be more concentrated cos you drank less water than last week.
Each m/c is different. Some people still have symptoms and don't realise the m/c is happened, other times it's obvious as there is a lot of blood. I don't want to add to your worry but can't you not get a scan earlier? Just for piece of mind. As long as the HCG is over 1000 they can see something with an internal scan, so why not ask for an early one?
Please try not to worry and ask about an early scan. It's worth it!

I did meet the midwife yesterday morning so I am considering calling my local EPU and seeing if they will scan me this week when I will be more than 6w.

Feel better about things. What will be will be. It has been an amazing cycle so far and we have 4 more strong embryos frozen so if this doesn't work it isn't the end of this journey.

Have spoken to both my clinic and EPU. It is good the bleeding was brief and nothing since. I just need to stay off Clexane one more day and then if no bleeding start Clexane again tomorrow.

It is too early for a scan and to be honest I was relieved to have a scan at 8w as I knew by then a heartbeat should be clearly visible. The last thing I want to do is have a scan and worry that they haven't seen anything. If the bleeding starts again I will call them back for now I'm just going to enjoy a relaxing three day weekend!

Glad you are feeling a little better.

Bleeding is such an awful thing and feels like a nightmare - I had a little bleed a couple of weeks ago and it absolutely terrified me so I do understand. As you say, it is a good sign that it was brief and you are not cramping etc. I am sure all is well.

Hi honey

I had a bleed at 5 weeks 4 days. My bleeding sounded like it was heavier than yours and lasted about a week. I went to the hospital when I first saw the bleeding as it was very red. They did some tests then sent me home and that night I passed some clots and felt sure that I had lost my little one. The hospital asked me to come back athe next day (5 weeks and 5 days) but the scan was to early and just showed a sac at the time. They did see a small amount of bleeding around the area but couldn't be sure what that was and if it was the reason behind the bleeding. They asked me to come back at just over 7 weeks so that they could be certain if there was a heartbeat to be seen they would see it. I was so relieved when the scan showd a good strong heartbeat. I'm now 23 weeks and 3 days.

So I have my fingers crossed for you that everything turns out ok as a bleed doesn't mean its all over.

Hi Devchick, Im glad you're feeling better. As the other ladies have said its probably nothing. Just a bit of spotting and you got advice from the professionals so they should know what they r talking about, right?

I wanted to ask something about the Clexane, cz i got worried a little bit. I have been taking it since EC, I started spotting brown on Sunday and have a lot of period like pain :-(

After 2 scans the docs couldnt see where the spotting is coming from and said that everything looked normal. Noone told me to stop the Clexane???mmm, i know, everyone is different but....
BTW Im 6week 2 today.

Hi Elena

They just told me to stop Clexane as I had a small bleed and Clexane can make it worse. If you are just spotting brown that doesn't sound like a fresh bleed. Clexane won't cause a bleed but if you have a bleed it obviously won't clot as easily.

I found both my clinic and EPU really helpful. If you are worried give yours a ring.

Bleeding has just started again. This time red :bawl:

no cramps or clots so am now on bed rest.

Thanks everyone. Your comments are much appreciated.

After I bled last night an hour later I passed a blot clot. Had a bit of a worry it may be the embryo but it was only a small clot and no cramping at all. Once I passed the blood clot there was no further bleeding :happy:

I spoke to both my clinic and EPU this morning. They both said it sound ok as no cramping or heavy bleeding so fingers crossed all ok!

They said it is too early to have a scan and tbh I'm fine about that. If I went in and they couldn't find a hb I would just be rally worried. So I've spent today working from home (in bed!) and relaxed. Going back to office tomorrow and if need be can work from home again this week. On Saturday we head to Spain for a week where I can just chill out and sit by the side of the pool :happy:

I'm not stressing anymore. What ever happens happens. Nothing I can do will cause a miscarriage what will be will be. Just going to take it easy and if I do start to bleed return to bed (or sun lounger!) rest.

I felt a little sick this morning so ringers crossed that is still good news xfingers
