Hi everyone!

Been suffering from a cold so not had chance to post.

Congratulations SunnyBee on :girl: and :boy:, also devchick on a :girl:

Kat - I've the same doppler as you, it was fab last time and need to start using it again. I'm still taking the pregnacare - have been for years.

No news about my blood tests yet, but will call my midwife on Monday (even though she said if I didn't hear in a week then all is OK) - just want to hear her say it. Then we can start telling everyone :)

Sorry some of you are spotting and xfingers it goes away soon.

My DS is on the move now, crawling everywhere. Can't just sit and watch him play as he's into everything. It's so cute though. He's just gone down for a nap so gonna sneek one in too - chat to you all later.

Nikki x

Welcome to all our new faces  it really does seem that we have more boys than girls in the second tri at the moment.

Have any of you been getting cramp in your legs? I've had it twice in the last week and I'm still hobbling now  I've also got really bad back ache but I barely have a bump so I must've overdone it with the house work yesterday.

Hope you've all had a great weekend. Can you believe it is only a fortnight until 2012 and then we can start saying 'I'm expecting a baby THIS year!!!'

Curtails - I haven't had cramping for a few weeks now, but a few weeks ago I had a really bad cramp in my foot! It was so bad, i was screaming in the house and couldn't do anything to ease it - had to just wait for it to pass...

We got our Down's results yesterday: Twin 1 came back as 1 in 9700 and Twin 2 as 1 in 6700. I think that is low enough!

Congrats Sunny on one of each flavour! Also Congrats Amber on good results.

Kat, hope that spotting stays away.

Im still getting lots of pains- they dont last long but for a few seconds they are really bad and quite scary. Hubby thinks its all my old scar tissue from previous ops being stretched- will see how i feel this week but i might get it checked out. Also getting lower back pain, but i know thats quite common.

Curlytails, i get leg cramp alot, stretching it out really helps.

Just waiting to get to 24 weeks then i feel i can start buying a few bits and pieces- not long now!

Im also thinking about getting a doppler but i am worried that i will get obsessed with checking! :snigger:

Lots of love to all. xx

Anyone is getting headaches? I had them for about two weeks now and the paracetamol doesn't make change. It is getting worse at night when trying to sleep, and my nose gets stuffy at night and I get some blood when I can finally blow it in the morning! And the throat gets incredibly dry at night - I already have a glass of water by my bed, and some nights I ave to go and refill it (it is a pint glass!!!!).

Sorry - done complaining. I am seeing a consultant in just under 3 weeks, I am sure to mention this... It wears me out so much, that I can't last a day of work - took a sick leave on Wednesday and slept for half a day, and couldn't help it on Friday and fell asleep after lunch - ended up catching up with work today. I don't think I have done enough and I am sure my boss is getting fed up with me....

Amber I went through a stage of getting headaches constantly, it has eased off now though thankfully xfingers yours will as well :)
I also get the stuffy nose and dry throat at night, this still continues even now, I have read that it's common though so haven't really worried about it to much.
Do mention it to your MW though, she'll be able to give you some advice :) xx

Amber the stuffy/bloody nose is really common, I've been suffering with it for weeks now. There is a proper name for it but I can't remember what that is!

Thanks, I know stuffy nose is common, but could do with something to help it at night. It is not bad during the day, it is just the night time!

And thanks cheenab for good news about the headaches - I am going to look forward to them easing off, together with the energy boost!

My Christmas shopping is done, just need to wrap them now, and pack into the suitcase. My OH hasn't got anything for me yet, so it will be interesting on Christmas day if he doesn't come up with something!

morning ladies

SunnyBee - congratulations on the bab10 & bab11 :) Can't wait to feel our LO moving around, but a few weeks to go yet!

kat - hope your spotting has gone away again xfingers

devchick - congrats on bab10 :)

curlytails - I've had no cramp recently, but pre-pregnancy I used to get it occasionally in my legs, really painful sometimes. One remedy that is supposed to work is eating bananas - something to do with the potassium in them I think?

Amber - fantastic test results happydance I've been getting occasional headaches for a couple of weeks now, and also have a very dry throat, especially at night - I wasn't sure if it was a pregnancy thing, or down to this horrible cold I've had! Sounds like it could be pregnancy related if other people get it too.

AFM, the cold is still lingering (four weeks and counting!!) but not sure how much is now just pregnancy symptoms. Had a nasty coughing fit last night, thought I was going to be sick it was that bad! Energy levels not bad, but with regular severe crashes especially if I try doing any cooking. Off out today to do the last of the shopping for Christmas, and also to buy some clothes - I desperately need new jeans, and while I do not need maternity clothes yet, it seems pointless to buy normal ones when I won't be able to get into them in a few weeks!

Rest of the week will be wrapping presents and tidying the house - got mum and sister arriving on Friday with 5 dogs in tow!! We already have 2, so it is going to be a bit manic over Christmas :D

Good day girls

Amber don’t worry about the headaches ,I have had these since the end of my first tri and nothing helps ,I was told by my doctor if it gets super bad as I suffer with migraine to take codeine ,but I wouldn’t as I just use a bit of frozen bag on my head for a bit it doesn’t fix it but helps, I also suffer badly with stuffy nose and bleeds and on top now I am sick so it makes it worse, I just use salt spray ,bought it from Tesco and its ok in pregnancy and it helps when you are stuffy.
CT Caraz is totally right the potassium thing does work since I make sure to get enough of it no much problems
Poppy you would love the Doppler I was addicted but now that he kicks I am better :snigger:
Kat how are you today?
As for me I am still sick as usual I am always ill at Christmas but it’s worse when pregnant , the only worrying bit I have been getting is these pms type of light feeling no cramps and this horrid discharge ,sometimes I freak out that is my waters sometimes I think i am bleeding again anyone feel this things?
and on top of this I have not bought my dh Christmas gift or send out my nieces theirs I am so bad this year

Amber what might help for your stuffy nose and maybe even the headaches is inhalations before you go to bed. You can get the Vicks VapoRub and put a tiny bit in hot water and inhale it of 10 min. It is pretty strong stuff so only use a small spoon of it. You can also use it as a rub on your chest - it does smell a bit to other people around but also does the trick :) . What also helps is to get one extra pillow so you sleep higher, which make is a bit easier to breath.
Hope you feel better.

Really quiet in here this week - everyone busy with last minute shopping? We've got my mum and sister arriving this afternoon so busy with last minute house tidying (although it seems a wasted effort considering how many dogs are going to be running around the place soon!).

I'm finally starting to feel 90% human again, the cold is easing, and apart from occasional bouts of queasiness and tiredness, I am more or less "normal" which is a relief! The PGP seems to have stabilised over the past couple of weeks, which is great, I can cope with it at this level, I just need to be a bit careful and not overdo the long walks.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

Belly touching moments...

My husband sent me this, I thought some of you might enjoy it!

1) Careful! You might wake the baby
2) Think of me as a museum: Look but don't touch
3) I had a big lunch
4) Warning: It might be contagious
5) Five dollars to touch the belly, $10 if it kicks
6) I'm not Buddah, please don't rub me for luck
7) Baby's enjoying some me-time right now
8) Like MC Hammer says, "Can't touch this"
9) Under construction, please don't touch
10) Can I pat your belly now

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas! xmas30

Hi Kat,

The sales are tempting arent they!

We bought the nursery furniture in the sale- got a right bargain! Also got sucked into the buy one get one free on the sleeping bags, buy one get one half price on the cot bedding and the 3 for 2 deals aswell! Ive gone from having nothing to making a good start all in one day!!! My hubby also bought a Man Utd babygrow! Hilarious! Feels really good to finally be buying stuff and its made me even more excited! xxxxxx

Poppy, you did well in the sales. How many weeks are you? If i'd have been over 20 weeks I think I would have gone mad and got everything :snigger:

Not sure if its just me but whenever I eat I get a really uncomfortable feeling a bit like a stitch under my left boob, it stays for quite a while then goes away until I eat again.

Hope everyone else is ok xxx

Hi everyone, can I join you please??? I am 14 weeks today and it still hasn't really sunk in that we have been blessed, not sure when it will sink in really!

Just read the last few posts about maternity jeans.....I have been in mine for a couple of weeks now! I love them, if only it was acceptable to wear maternity jeans all of your life!!!!

I have a few more days off work and then on Tuesday I will have the great pleasure in telling my boss the news! I have managed to get away with not telling my employer yet. He is a strange bloke so coule be an awkward conversation. He is new to the company so doesn't know that I had IVF in the past so I wouldn't be surprised if he says anything insensitive! Anyway, he will miss me more than I will miss him for the year that I am off! Haaahaaahaa!

We are off to Cornwall to see family for NY, I am supposed to be ironing and packing so I guess I ha better get on with it!

Welcome Jasper

Kat and Poppy it sounds like you both did well in the sales. I'm really lucky as I've been offered a crib and a cot as well as bedding etc so I don't need to worry about buying them. Doesn't stop me looking though :snigger: I will need to buy a pram but I'm going to wait until Feb or March for that.

I've been having some really strange feelings down below today. I really don't know how to describe them but they are not the baby moving. I have my 20 week scan in 6 days so I'm trying not to get too worried as I'll have a proper check up then.

Poppy my Dh bought our baby an Aston Villa babygrow too! I had said I'd like somthing useful for the baby for Christmas and that's what he thinks is useful rotf it is cute though and I can just see him and the baby in matching outfits

Hi everyone

Hope you had a lovely Christmas. I think I am suffering from SPD. I am in so much pain. Has woken me up and can't get back to sleep. Has anyone else got this? Any ideas on what helps? Paracetamol seems to take the edge off but don't want to take too much. Am going to call dr tomorrow morning.

Happy New Year everyone! Can't believe in 2012 looks like our dreams will come true xx

Hi ladies

Hope you have all had a lovely Christmas :)

We've had a really nice time, but very busy. We told the families about baby over Christmas, by putting scan photos in Christmas cards for the parents - everyone absolutely delighted of course, even my brother was practically speechless he was so happy :) We're gradually letting everyone else know - I thought it would start to feel more real now but not so far! Plus various relatives have now started on the pregnancy/birth horror stories - always ending with "but its all worth it in the end"! Thanks so much for that...

Sounds like there has been some serious sales shopping going on - I've only bought some maternity jeans and a couple of shirts. The shirts are far too big for now, but will be lovely in the Spring when the weather warms up a bit. The jeans aren't really needed yet either, as I've hardly gained any weight at all yet, but they are very comfy! Not bought anything else, it still feels too early - we will probably wait until at least 20 weeks, if not significantly later, before we do any baby shopping.

Jasper - welcome, and have a lovely time in Cornwall, I am quite jealous, I love it down there!

Kat - not sure about your stitch but I keep getting a feeling of pressure in my abdomen - it stays for an hour or so then goes again. I'm assuming its just the uterus pressing on me, but feels very weird!

devchick - sorry to hear about your pains. You need to talk to your midwife, they should be able to refer you to a phhysio if it is SPD/PGP. I've got my first physio appointment on Tuesday for it, although it hasn't been so bad the past couple of weeks - it seems to have stabilised. But any day I am on my feet for more than a couple of hours, I can barely walk in the evening. My lower back has been joining in this week too, very painful at times. I'm taking a lot more baths than normal (got one running now!) as that seems to help.

Hope everyone has a lovely New Year :)

newyear5 Happy New Year 2012 to you all. Hope you had a relaxing Christmas. I ate well too many Christmas sweets but hey it is Christmas  Back to work on Tuesday. It seems a bit strange that I might have only 2 or 3 months left at work.
Today has been a rainy day here down South so we spent it mostly on the sofa watching TV, doing bit of house work and eating more food :) . Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better so we can get out for a walk.

Take care girls and all the best for 2012. :xxx3:

Hi Ladies, we're very quiet this year aren't we :snigger: ?

it's my 20 week scan this morning woohoo and I can't wait to see my LO again. I won't be finding out the flavour though. Have any of you been suffering with nosebleeds? I've had a bloody nose since being pregnant but last night I thought I had a really runny nose, reached for the tissues and blew it several times... then woke up this morning to find blood EVERYWHERE. I don't know why I hadn't realised what it was! The nose bleed has started up a couple of times since I got up which is really annoying X(

Hope you are all well and that you are not suffering too much from the stormy weather

Curlytails -good luck, let us know how it goes!!!! I have 20 days till my 20 week scan, and can't wait! Well, first I am meeting my consultant tomorrow morning, will see what she says.

I had a nosebleed before Christmas, it was in the morning as I was just getting up and took a long time to settle down. Now instead I get stuffy nose and when I blow, my tissues are all bloody. Not pleasant, but I can't do anything else - not blowing is not an option - I need to breathe!

My hip seems to woken up with pain again - it has been busy couple of days at home, and had to get to the office, so tonight it felt like my leg was collapsing under me when going to the loo. Hope it will settle down again, as being wobbly on your legs when half asleep and trying to go around the bed to get to your side is not one of the safest things.

I had a bit of a bump envy yesterday - one of my colleagues is pregnant as well, 12 weeks, and she has such lovely and tidy bump! Ans it looks bigger than mine, even though I am 5 weeks ahead of her with the twins. Well, maybe she is having twins as well - she didn't have a scan yet. Will know soon! My bump instead is there, but as I am a bit bigger, it is not so noticeable, especially as I don't wear very tight clothes, and it looks like it is cut in half at my waist, with a bump below ans then a smaller bump above - not a pretty view!!! I guess, I should be eating less!

morning ladies

curlytails - good luck with the 20 week scan, will be great to see baby again :) I am looking forward to ours, but not had the appointment through yet. Sorry to hear about the nosebleeds - I've not had any yet, although I had some last time so not sure why not this time!

amber - I know what you mean about the bump, I am checking everyday, but can't really see anything yet through the natural padding! I can feel the uterus if I push in though, so I know its there :)

I've just had my 16 week mw appointment, much quicker than the booking in, I was in and out in about 10 minutes. Heard the hb, which was great, I'd almost convinced myself she wouldn't be able to find anything, and we'd have to go for a scan!! I hope at some point I can begin to relax and believe in this pregnancy! I've given in and ordered a fetal doppler, which should arrive in a few days, which should help reassure me, now I know what to listen for. The mw could even hear the baby kicking, and the blood in the umbilical cord and through the placenta - she thinks the placenta is at the front. I'm measuring a little large at the moment, so she asked how big DH is - when I said he's a 6'3 former prop-forward she just laughed and said well that would explain it!!

I also had a physio appointment yesterday, which was really interesting and useful, I have exercises to do to help counter the PGP, and instructions to basically take it easy and not overdo it :) She even suggested doing grocery shopping online, to limit the amount of walking I have to do - I'm ok up to about two hours on my feet, more than that I get really stiff and painful later in the day. Dog walking takes priority over shopping for me, so I need to set up an account with Sainsburies!

Hope everyone else is doing well and recovered from the holiday season :)

Curlytails good luck with your scan today! /About nosebleeds, I havent had any yet but I 've had an incredibly stuffy nose, since the beginning of my pregnancy. I use some drops the doc gave me but they dont do much...Oh well...I ve just finished another course of antibiotics due to tonselitis...Much better now though.

Morning ladies,

Sorry I've not been about - been suffering with a bad cold all over Christmas, had it for almost 4 weeks!! Not even sure where Christmas went - it was so sweet seeing my little boy with his presents though. He walked along the sofa this morning (holding on) - he's growing up so fast ...

Curlytails - good luck for your 20 week scan, looking forward to hearing all about it.

Amber - try not to worry about other people's bumps, as long as your babies are growing fine then that's all that matters.

I have a consultant appointment next Mon and then my 16 week midwife appointment on Tuesday (although I'll be over 17 weeks by then). We've already been using our doppler to hear baby and it is so nice to hear and also reassuring. Amber - which one did you go for in the end? I've had no nosebleeds yet (although perhaps the cold has been stopping them)??

All the best for 2012 - our babies are due this year! happydance

Hi, Nikki! It sounds so lovely your little one with all the presents!

I am not worried about the bump - I am just a bit jealous.... We did check for heartbeats the other day, and we think we found them both, so I am ok. Still - 3 weeks till we see them! I can feel the uterus if I press on my tummy, but I am looking forward to getting a proper bump! Although, I night not be so happy later on - we read the other day that a woman carrying twins at week 30 carries about the same weight as the woman with the singleton at 40 weeks!

We got Sonoline B doppler. I like that we don't need to use headphones and we can both hear. It also counts the beats, so just a bit more reassurance. Once we are done, it will be going on ebay.

Hi Amber - we've got the same doppler. It's great and so easy to use to detect baby's heartbeat. It's nice to be able to see what the heartbeat actually is too and to double check it's not yours :)

Enjoy!

Thanks for all your Good Lucks

The scan was great although baby wasn't in the mood for it so I had to go back to the waiting room for 30 mins and then go back in again to try again! We still don't know the flavour but s/he looks healthy so I'm happy. S/he did a huge yawn in the middle of the scan which was quite funny yawny. I had a consultant appointment but they had no idea why as I am not at risk so he sent me on my way and said he would see me in labour eeek

Amber I have bump envy as well but as Nikki says as long as they are healthy it doesn't matter how big we are.

Nikki well done to your LO for walking, you're going to have your hands very full!

Pleased all went well Curlytails :) I was going to ask the same question about the flavour. Think we are going to find out this time (although there is a small part of me that isn't sure). Last time DS was all shy so we wouldn't have been able to find out then anyway!

Good luck for your consultant appointment today Amber.

curlytails, glad to hear everything went well :) Our last sonographer recommended having a bar of chocolate or an energy drink before going for the scan, to try and make sure the baby is moving around a bit :) This was after a quick scan where the baby was clearly fast asleep and refused to roll over despite being poked and prodded! Clearly takes after me in that regard zzzz

We will be finding out the flavour of ours - we are fairly sure its a girl, thanks to the last doctor, but will hopefully get that confirmed in February. Now I just need to track down baby clothes suppliers that don't think all girls clothes have to be bright pink!!

Caraz - let me know when you find place that doesn't sell only pink for girls! (Ok, we don't know if we are having a girl yet!)

So, I am back. The hip pain - got codeine and referral to physio. Headaches and stuffy/bleeding nose - will just monitor, if I get the nosebleed I can't stop go to A&E. As I am so tired, they decided to repeat the bloods to check iron levels, as last time it was just above border line. Also, they something they didn't like in the urine sample, so they are sending that to the lab to check for infection. All in all, it went well, although I was hoping to get a week of work or so, just so I can get some rest. I am working from home for the rest of the day, so decided 'to move' my office to the sofa... Maybe not the best idea, but at least I can have my feet up and don't need to go up and down the stairs for a drink/snack/etc.

Happy new year to all of you too xmas40 xmas62 xmas73
I have had such crazy holidays spent most of my time in labour and delivery ,had what was thought to be premature labour but it wasnt than baby wasnt moving at all ,well not surprised he is breached been like this from week 12 not once he has been in good position , I also cant walk very well so been going to phisio, but I am ok otherwise had ok Christmas and New year I am back to bed rest and I am fat very fat have put on so far 12 kilos about 25 pounds but it is because i cant move much and gone mad about chocolate it doesnt help that i have now become oficially diabetic and my lupus is in full blown flare but we are fine because my baby is herein my belly
I am very nervous about tomorrow, they will be looking again the heart and anomaly scan +diabetic doctor and lupus doctor and my phisio and my gp ,so i got 5 appointments tomorrow ,they also want to see my placenta as they have seen some notching and hope that there is no reverse blood flow as the baby wont get enough oxygen and nutrients and to see what is happening with his echogenic bowel, but for tomorrow ,i am feeling somewhat positive ,on the good note
I couldnt wait I have bought most of the things up to a year old nearly I know this is crazy but because I had bought so much stuff in the past 9 years for newborn and 0-3 that I had to buy some other clothes now, pram we went for the quinny buzz, 4 ,bed and a lot of winnie the pooh stuff I just love winnie the pooh , I would have loved to have a nursery room and do winnie paintings like i have done for childrens hospitals but he will have to be with us in one room as the small room has so much dampness but we are still renting,My dh has been talking about moving out of London and buy a place some place nice ,I am getting tired of the London life and some days I worry bringing up my child here but we will see once he is born, wish me luck

I hope your various ailments clear up soon - its enough having to deal with the tiredness without all the rest thrown in on top! I'm really bugged that I can't do long dog walks anymore - about an hour, very slow is my limit now :( So much for our planned long walks in the Spring when the weather improves :(

mim - you are having a hard time of it :cuddle why can't it ever be straightforward? I hope your docs tomorrow are helpful and can put your mind at rest. We've also looked at the Quinny Buzz, but the 3-wheel one, it seems to have good reviews. Not done any serious looking yet though :)

I'm all excited this afternoon - my fetal doppler arrived a couple of hours ago! Slightly annoyed because I ordered a Sonoline B 3 Mhz, and I've been sent a 2 Mhz instead, plus the advertised free 250ml of gel was not included (and the Amazon advert has now been altered so no gel mentioned, but was definitely there before). Anyway, I nipped to the pharmacy round the corner - they didn't have any u/s gel, but I got some aloe vera gel which apparently works just as well. Found my own hb, then the swishy umbilical sounds that the mw pointed out yesterday, and finally, after a few minutes, a much more rapid (138) hb that came and went which I'm guessing is LO :D Also occasional sudden sounds which the mw said was baby kicking :D Can't wait for DH to get home now, as he couldn't make the mw appointment yesterday so hasn't heard the hb for a few weeks :)
