Feel so negative and as if this pregnancy has been doomed from start. Don't know how much more of this rollercoaster I can take. Dh wants to book weekend away for us to a spa hotel but I don't even have the energy to get showered right now :bawl:

[zx127] Mollie, sorry that you're feeling so ill. As for the discharge try not to worry as im sure if the mw was concerned she would have sent you for a scan and just to reassure you I had brown discharge with my first pregnancy (my DD is now 2 and a half). It seemed to happen everytime i was 'due' a period if you get me. Even though i'd missed them i'd still get this brown spotting every month for several days until i was 4 months pregnant. I'm with you with the lack of energy - feel so sorry for DH at the moment who is running round keeping everything in our household running as it should! especially as DD has decided to wake in the night for the last few nights! (poor DH has been getting up with her).

Glad you changed your scan taffy.

Get to see my LO for the first time on Wednesday! Been a long 12/13 weeks! not feeling too nervous probs b/c i've been under the weather and not had much time to worry. will have to remember to drink a big pint of juice in work before i go

Firstly, Mollie, it’s impossible but try not to worry about brown discharge, it must be old, if you were miscarrying, it would be fresh red blood. And sometimes even if it’s that, many girls bleed a lot through the 1st trimester and it means nothing at all. I think it sounds like your sickness is getting you down more than anything. I hope it goes soon, mine is very intermittent now, so try take heart from that. When I was feeling my worst, my friend bought me some biscuits which have been a godsend, they are Nairns Oat Biscuits – snack pack selection. Ask your hubby to get them for you. Some have ginger, but they are all very easy on the stomach as they are oaty, which is also very good for diarrhoea (binds things up!). They’re brilliant to just have one or two (they come in little sealed packs of two), and helped me keep the sickness at bay. And I think it’s a great idea to go to a spa, you’ll relax a lot more there than you think you will at home. And you could have a lovely back and neck massage to take away the stress…

Taffycaz, I’m glad you’ve postponed your scan, I wouldn’t go for my 12week one without my DH either, I’m too scared to be without him if it’s not good. Good decision. And you’ll see so much more at 13 weeks anyway! It’ll be lovely 

Jen, I think you’re the only one of us who is having her 2nd child, so I don’t think they generally recommend a home birth for your first. In fact with me they won’t even allow a midwife-led birth, they have put me straight down for the labour ward, even though I have said I DO want a water birth (I love bathing, and have heard good stories about how it helps with pain relief). BUT in regards to what you were saying, it sounds like you’re the perfect candidate for a home birth, if everything went so swimmingly last time. I guess it will depend on how things go later and whether the baby’s in the right position etc, not breach. How far are you from a hospital if things go wrong? That would be the only thing I would be concerned about. If you are fairly close, then that’s cool, but what would happen if the baby went into distress and then you had to get an ambulance somewhere? How long would it take? I actually love the idea of a home birth, and have a friend who had one in South Africa. I don’t think you have to do it on the floor! I think you can have it on your bed if you want to. Just cover it with plastic stuff I guess etc so there’s no mess afterwards. And how wonderful if it all goes well to just remain in bed with your little one, or go and have a lovely bath together to clean it up? I think if all goes smoothly it’s a lovely idea, but I’m too scared to do it. You’ve got a long time to decide anyway!

We had a good weekend, but it wasn’t as relaxing as I’d hoped. My DH wants to buy a new car, trading his in for a 4x4 with 7 seats! Yip we are going down the mummy car route ;) Actually it’s not like we’re having a million children, but when my parents come over from SA, if we have a baby seat (or two hopefully in the future) in the car, we can’t fit them in, and unlike people whose parents are local, they don’t have a car here obviously so it makes things really awkward. So we thought let’s just take the lunge and get a car which can have the extra 2 seats when you need them. But we had to trek up to Leicestershire to see the one my DH liked, and it just took the whole day so I was wiped out by the time we got home. My DH is being so sweet, I just went straight to the couch and feel asleep and he made a lovely roast dinner, what a sweetie pie.

Shelly, we’re also having a drought in the bedroom dept, thanks to Zita West, but I’m hoping that will end at 12 weeks. But to be honest it hasn’t put too much strain on things as my DH is treating me like I’m made of glass anyway so I reckon once we’re past 12 weeks, if I want any action I am going to have to jump him! ;)
I’m sorry you’re taking strain. I guess the whole bed rest thing isn’t helping? Can you do something together as a couple, like go away for a weekend where you can enjoy each other’s company, without necessarily having to do the dirty?

Whiteangel, good luck for today’s scan!! And tomorrow & Wed, Ofsted has CRAP timing! You poor thing, working on the weekend  Shame hon. I hope you got it all done and aren’t absolutely exhausted by the time they come. Fingers crossed for a good rating.

I have slept funny and my neck is really sore. Might have to book a massage, might help with the stress I’m feeling. I actually don’t know if I will really even feel any differently after the 12 week scan, I sincerely hope so. I can’t handle the constant stress. Every time I go to the loo I’m wondering if there will be blood. I just want to know it will all be OK. It’s such a strain. On the positive, I have the scan to look forward to on Thurs, and then I’m finally having my highlights done on Fri – my hair looks abysmal! I’m hoping that will make me feel better about myself. I can’t tell you the difference my silly hairband invention has made now that I can wear nice clothes again, I’m actually starting to care what I look like again…had a few weeks where I couldn’t be bothered. Mollie, sounds like you’re there at the moment, so don’t worry it does definitely get better!

Hope everyone has a good week, and looking forward to seeing your scans Whiteangel & Jen!

xxx

ah Jewels I didnt realise you couldnt have a homebirth for a 1st baby (or at least it wasnt advised) but i guess it makes sense. I am about 20 mins drive from the hospital but I guess if an ambulance needed to get me there they could do it much quicker...i'll have to have a think about it.

Anywayz - a bit off the subject but just something i started when Lydia was born which some of you might like the idea of...i will do the same for baby #2. I have sooo much film footage and so many pics of Lydia so started making video montages of video clips and pics and editing down to about 5/10 mins. I have made about 6 of them over time of her since she was born and am so glad i have because DH and I often sit and watch them and remember how small she was! I now watch them with Lydia as well and she loves looking at herself when she was a baby...they make lovely memories and i've uploaded some to youtube and all of them to facebook incase i ever lose them off my computer! I've just finished her 2 year old vid...but like i said really love looking back at these. (I've posted the link for her latest video)

hi Girls

Jen she is so lovely, what a cutie pie, and such a special thing to do. She'll love looking through those as she gets older. I love the shot you've ended on as well, very special.

Good luck Mollie, I hope they put your mind at rest. Fingers crossed hon. Thanks for the bra tip. If my scan goes fine on Thurs I am going to go maternity clothes shopping!

No news here, just another boring day at work... counting down to scan on Thurs.

Whiteangel I'm so glad your went well, and you saw your little baba kicking etc. So cute! All fine for Down's? Great news.

bye girlies

I'm so sorry Mollie. Thinking of you!

Bra shopping is becoming desperate. My boobs became the topic of discussion at work today so everyone has noticed how much they have grown! Jewels, they have given me the information about an optional blood test at 16 weeks which then puts you in risk groups for downs etc. If you are high risk they then offer you further testing. Yet to discuss it properly with DH but might skip this test because there is no way I could go through a termination after all we have been through with the PGD etc. This is probably the only pregnancy I will ever experience and can't contemplate having to make those sorts of decisions. The lady of the scan said everything looks exactly as it should for this point and I actually measure a couple of days further on which is a relief after measuring small last time. Ofsted are really pushing us. Exhausted. Going to bed now as tomorrow will be really hard again. Kids are over excited and playing up, typical! Hugs to you all x

Mollie, our thoughts are with you hon, I'm so sorry xxx

Whiteangel, I'm the same, although I am nervous about the test tomorrow (which includes the blood test already, didn't you have one yesterday with your scan?), even if it comes up high I don't think I could terminate, so although I would want to know if it was bad, I think I would have to leave it in God's hands. I couldn't have come this far and through this much to end it all. The decision would have to be taken away from me.

I'm glad your scan went well, and baby's measuring correctly, that's great. Was it lovely? Want to see pics! (when you're through your Ofsted trauma!)

Does anyone else still experience period-like pains? I keep getting them, usually in the evening. And it freaks me out. I know it's common early on, but is it still? It really worries me.

If the scan goes OK tomorrow I am going to buy a doppler so I can listen to the heartbeat so I can reassure myself the LO is still alive without my weekly scans. I think I'll feel quite lost without them.

At the moment I am nagging my clinic to get them to fax my prescription to Boots, as I run out of everything today! They said they'd do it on Mon, but Boots hasn't received it, so now it's urgent. So annoying.

My boobs don't seem to have grown that much, there's definitely nothing to talk about! Although my DH thinks they are bigger, I'm still in the same bras no problem. I hope that's OK?

Just so much to worry about isn't there? I find myself grinding my teeth, and I don't want to be this stressball person, I just want to enjoy things.

Hope you're all well (and not stressing!)

xxx

well scan was today....they've put me at 13 weeks tomorrow :) Baby was sooooo chilled out and didnt get a brill scan pic cos he/she was face down. I kept asking was he/she okay - and the sonographer said absolutely fine just chilling out ....might be a sign of things to come (after a fiesty - but still so lovely first child i think im due a laid back one lol) But everything went really well - CRL was 64.1 mm and nuchal fold was 1.8 which i believe is good? Anywayz good luck with anyone who has their scans coming up :) xx

That's great news Jen! You must be so relieved. Did you have the blood test part of the nuchal scan as well?

We had ours today and our wrigglebum was the complete opposite! Wouldn't lie still for ages for her to take the measurement ;)

But all good, and nuchal measured 1.3mm so very happy. Just waiting on blood results now to confirm risk profile. Everything else looked good too, I put some pics on my diary - it looks like a proper baby now! We're both so happy today. My Dh wants to tell everyone, but I'd rather wait a little while longer til I feel we're in the clear.

But I am determined to be more positive about it all from now on. Keep reminding me that please!

Just dipping my toe in the waters...not quite sunk in yet!

We were due to start FET, and our consultation was Wednesday. When I had IVF or FET before I've been put on Nothisterone to bring on AF, as I dont' ovulate, so I thought I'd test at home the night before as they always make you do a test there if you haven't...

It was only a flipping :BFP:

Haven't got a clue how far along I am! I think I'm about 6-7 weeks (Vaguely remember seeing ewcm about a month ago, and squashing any hope down, as in 6 years its never meant anything) Its so bizarre after last time where we knew exactly how far along I was to the hour!

It will be so hard not to tell everyone

Hi Jewels - glad your scan went well too :) yes, had my bloods done...all new to me because i didnt have this with DD (but decided i would this time because i only panicked more about the risks of DS). They said if i was high risk i would hear within the week. We have officially announced it now which feels so weird.

Huge congrats andie - what wonderful news!!!!!

Welcome Andy!! That's such a wonderful surprise, enjoy every minute. Good luck with not telling everyone, it was the thought of something going wrong that stopped us from telling people. But then probably alot more of our friends already know because they knew we were going through IVF... but I still want to wait before telling others (esp work!)

Hope this first trimester goes really easily for you. Will you try and find out how far along you are, or are you just going to be calm and wait for your 12 week scan on the NHS?

Jen, congrats on moving over! I'm sure Taffy will join you there any sec, and me hopefully too.

We got our blood resutls back from the nuchal scan, and it was negative! YAY. So my risk has dropped from 1 in 380 (due to age) down to 1 in 1300, which we are very happy with. It's such a relief to know it looks good.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend. We got our lovely new car, and then viewed a house (too small) and then the plan was to do some maternity shopping but I was wiped out so ended up just coming home and going to bed! I've sadly lost my shopping gene :(

Take care, am on Ebay mission to buy 2nd hand maternity clothes!!

Is it you I'm bidding against Jewels? Got a top for £1 yesterday morning! Will see what they're like when they arrive. I'm used to wearing something different every day for work I'm now down to one pair of trousers and a hand full of tops which seem to be shrinking rapidly! I also don't like what these bras are doing to my noonday! I've always worn bras that give a bit of lift and a touch of clevage. These seem determined to swish and separate so that they appear to be coming out of my armpits which are also red raw from how high up the fabric comes. Not to mention the visible nipple issue! I look indecent, not appropriate for working with children at all. Not sure how long I'm going to be able to cope with this! Anyone else gone up 4 cup sizes already?
Sorry rant over. When do we go to second trimester? Is it the end of W13? Think we might have found someone who wants to buy our house, a friend from my PGCE who is due to have a baby the week before us. Seeing her later to talk about it so fingers crossed. Welcome Andie xxx

Hi Ladies,

Can I join you?! I got my BFP yesterday, this is my second one. I have no idea how many weeks as My cycles haven't settled down since coming of the pill so I am guessing around 4 weeks. I know they will go by my LMP which will make me 7 weeks, but I know I am not that far along as I am sure I ov'd the day my last Af was actually due.

Bit worried though....No Symptoms at all! Anyone else?

Hi Girls

Whiteangel, I hope it's not you I'm bidding against else you'll hate me!! I swoop in at the last minute usually ;)

I think 14 weeks is officially the start of the 2nd trimester, so at the end of 13 we can move over... Although I'm scared of jinxing it again! I definitely haven't gone up that many sizes, I'm still in my normal bras, although they are a bit full ;) It sounds like you need to go and get fitted properly, your bras shouldn't be hurting you. But aren't you the one who worked in a bra shop before? Don't suffer in silence, go and get some nice comfy bits! Just as well you're a junior school teacher, imagine all the boys eyes if you were dealing with 16 yr old boys every day!!

Welcome Claire!! Don't worry, you should've seen ALL of us at the beginning of this thread when we got our BFPs, we were all totally paranoid that we didn't have any symptoms. But don't worry they soon raised their heads ;) I didn't have any symptoms til at least 7-8 weeks, and then mainly tiredness and sickness. Did you do one of those digital clearblue tests? They tell you how far along you are with reasonable accuracy I think. They were spot on with mine. Otherwise I guess you'll just have to wait for your 12 week scan, or book a private one. I had so many with my IVF that I always knew exactly how far I was.

Nothing to exciting to report, we told some friends yesterday, the first people we've told who didn't know about the IVF. And they were delighted for us, so that was nice. Weird to be talking about maternity leave and stuff like that which I've been to scared to think of... but nice.

Nothing else to say, just waiting to hear back from my clinic as to which medication I can stop. I have been told I can stop the hideous progesterone-in-the-bum injections!! WOOPEE!!

:clap Yey to being drug free Taffy! Welcome Claire and congratulations! Yes Jewels, I was a bra fitter when I was a student so about 8 years ago now. I was fitted by a lovely girl in Debenhams who really knew her stuff. Unfortunately, all of the bras in my size were so deep at the side that they were cutting into my armpits. Was fitted again in House of Fraser and she agreed with the size but could only offer me one (the boob squeezer). Don't understand why maternity bras only seem to go up to a D or DD and shops can only offer me nursing bras. I'm not planning on whipping them out just yet! Much happier without a bra at all once I get home but can't really get away with that at work. Having to put up with being uncomfortable which just doesn't seem fair! Hope scan goes well Taffy. Are we all sticking with due dates from treatment or scan? According to scan I'm 14 weeks on Wed but not until Sat really. Very confusing! xx

So scared

Hey ladies, I was only saying yesterday that I've never got this far before and that this time is different, plans in place to visit my grandparents after my 12 week scan next week and starting to get excited after weeks of worry. Then the bombshell hits, I've been bleeding again, and it's been getting worse throughout the day. The hospital are going to see me at 3:30pm and now I'm petrified, this weekend was the first weekend after my bed rest period and I went to MILs and although I relaxed I was more active than I have been over the last 10 weeks, I'm feeling guilt ridden, I have been in this position so many times before but always earlier than this. I'm tearful and scared, I have really bad cramps and I just can't find any PMA. I don't know why to do with myself, I'm so scared :bawl:

Hi Shelley, please try not to worry too much. I bled throughout my pregnancy and it had a happy ending, I know it is tough but lots of woman do bleed and go on to have healthy little ones. I see you are on clexane, if you are still taking this I was told as it is a blood thinner it can make even a small bleed look scary. I am sure all will be fine and it is great you can get checked out quickly, best of luck and try not blame yourself I am sure the bleeding would have happened either way. My doc put me on bed rest and the bleeding did stop but always returned, nothing i did stopped it and I learnt to live with it and just prayed. Take care xxx [zx127]

Shelley I hope eveything has gone ok and you are ok!!!

Had my scan today and everything is perfect, it was fantastic and I loved every minute of it!! athey were trying out a brand new state of the art scanner on me so my scan lasted for ages, the baby would not stop moving and its hands were moving allover the place, it took her ages to do the nuchal measuremesnts as it kept moving its head all of the time. They would not tell me the sex as they said it would be guess and I woul dhave to wiat unitl my 20 weeks scan....damn!!!! The baby also measured bigger and they have brought my due date foraward, i am meant to be 13 weeks today but they are putting me at 13 weeks 5 days. They also looked at my pelvis and I have a cist on one of my ovaries, I told them that I have PCOS but because of this I am going to be consultant led rather than midwife led as they need to keep an eye on my ovaries and this cist. Got my date for my next scan and this is in March. Got some really good pictures aswell, seem more real now and I am starting to take in that I have a baby on board which I dont think I realised before the scan lol.

Shelly, you know I'm thinking of you hon, and praying everything is OK.

Taffycaz, I'm so glad your scan went well. I take it the nuchal measurements were fine? So pleased for you. Let's see photos please!

Whiteangel, the sonographer told me that you stick with your due dates from your treatment as that is the most correct one. So even though our baby was also measuring 4 days bigger, she said to stick with the due date from treatment. Bugger as else I'd be further along ;) !!

Taffycaz, enjoy moving over to the next thread! We'll be joining you soon (touch wood and God-willing!).

How are you doing today Claire? Any symptoms popped up yet?

Hey lovely ladies, I've just got back from the hospital there is good news and bad news. The good news is that the baby measures correctly, wouldn't stop moving and performed for the camera (it will be a film star for sure!!!!) the bad news is they see lots of bleeds, what is happening is that the blood vessels that are trying to form the placenta are getting blocked and bursting, they are paticually worried about the one above the baby because f it omes away rather than re-absorbs it could take the pregnancy with it. They said the clexane should be helping to stop the vessels getting blocked but it seems my body if fighting that drug too. All I can do is wait and hope -however the doc did say that I need to view it like drilling a hole, when you drill a hole there is debris and these burst vessels are the debris. I don't know how I feel at the moment, the placenta doesn't fully support the baby yet but this issue needs to be fixed by the time it does or it's game over for me. Back to square one - no more excitement until I get the all clear. My pma is out of the window right now

hi girls

Taffy your baby is adorable!! And how lovely that you can hear its heartbeat so soon after you saw him/her. it's really special. Mine still hasn't arrived, the girl had problems with Paypal (I was getting quite frustrated as I'm having a hard time staying positive this week so really wanted it ASAP), but now she says it's fixed so I shuold get it tomorrow. I am desperate for it. I'm so glad your LO's was easy to find, I was wondering about that. How did you know it was the LO's and not yours? I wonder if I can send one to my mom, she'd love it too!

I will let you know how I get on, if it arrives I can see myself sneaking off to the bathroom at work just to see if I can reassure myself the baby is still alive.

You know Shelly I'm such a hypocrite, I tell you to be positive and have faith and here I am a real Doubting Thomas! I am finding it hard with this being the first week without a scan. But I know I need to get used to it. Man up girl!

How's your holiday Taffy? Have you been to manchester yet? have you shopped til you dropped?

Whiteangel have you been able to relax a bit more this week after all the Ofsted nonsense? I hope so! Have you taken a look at the maternity bra site 'Hot Milk'? Lots of girls on FZ have recommended it, they have gorgeous bras, and maybe they do bigger sizes? Otherwise what about sports bras from somewhere like Sweatty Betty, where it's not actually a maternity bra, but would hold it all in without underwire? Just a thought....

Hope everyone's OK, and the LO's are behaving themselves :)

jewels well I could tell the differnce as I listened to my own to start with , then It said to look for the babies under your bell button and down a 1/3, at first i could not hear anything then I put the conducting gel on I staretd to hear it, it was a strong beat and faster and sounded different to mine and was fainter, I also moved the dopler up to the top of my belly and I could not hear mine or babies heart beat. My mum phoned me after I emailed it to her and she was crying her eyes out lol. My mum is a staff nurse on gynae ward and she uses doplers and scans all the time on the ward she said that it will get louder as the baby is growing and the heart beat will be a lot easier to hear. It was just so nice to hear!!! You could record the heart beat on your phone if it is loud enough and send it to your mum on your phone??

Going to manchester tomorrow so I am loking forward to that. We went down to Bowness for a run out yesterday and ended up going int he Beatrix Potter nursery shop, I could not help myself and I ended up buying all my cott bedding as it was all on the sale, I know I should have waited a bit longer but I have always wanted a Beatrix Potter nursery and I just had to have it as it would have cost about £200 full price and it is absolutely gorgeous lol.

Hi

Just had an appointment and my first scan!

I am 6+4! Perfect heartbeat heard.

I saw a specialist due to having a bit of rough time with DD. I had pre-eclampsia, an emergency c-section followed by a Pulmonary Embolism, Pneumonia and Cardio-myopathy!
So today I was put on low dose asprine & daily fragmin injections( [zx216] I thought I might feel like less of a pin-cushion this time! No such luck!

They have taken bloods to test for genetic predisposition to clots, but we are quite confident that my problems were linked to the pregnancy. I'll always be treated as high risk with having had an embolism anyway.

Obviously its not normal to have a scan this early if its not an IVF baba, but I didn't have a clue how far all I was, so they scanned me at my appointment - it felt wonderful to see the litle flicker on screen!

Dancing around so happy

Congratulations Andie! I hope your pregnancy is completely different this time round and smooth as silk! Don't worry I'm on clexane too... it's all a means to an end eh?

Shame Claire, I hope you feel better soon, and maybe get some symptoms so you can stop worrying (not that you'll like them!). I am sure the cramps are your uterus stretching, I think it's fairly common.

I'm at home resting after a scare on Fri, so taking it easy with kitten on my lap in 7th heaven!
