Stabbing Pains and change in CM

Hi, I am 38 weeks and have noticed a lot more stabbing pains down below, that take my breath away. I've also noticed quite a few pains around my ovaries a bit like period pains and my CM has changed in colour (a bit more yellow) and in smell too. I don't have a UTI as had my pee checked a few days ago at MW appt. She said that my baby's head is 3/5 engaged. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced the same thing? I guess I just don't want to go over due and am looking for signs that my baby is on course for his/her due date!

Hi hun

I could almost have written your post myself as its pretty much exactly how i'm feeling too - I saw my midwife yesterday and she said that the stabbing pains were my cervix getting ready for labour and i'm 3/5 engaged too

I'm booked to go for induction on the 28th but midwife said to be prepared as i could well start labour on my own before then (8 o)

Hi Ellie, How exciting!!! I hope that means its good news for me too. May I ask though, how come your booked in for an induction on the 28th which will make you 38 weeks?

I am due on the 29th and my MW said that if I havent delievered by then, she wont induce me untill the 5th January and I will be 41 weeks then.

I have clotting problems and have been on blood thinners throughout this pregnancy and my consultant thinks its less risky for the baby to come at 38 weeks than to wait so he wants to induce a little early

Oh I see, sorry for asking, I was just curious thats all.

Well good luck, I hope your LO comes before your induction date. You never know we may even give birth on the same day!

:D no problem :D

I was hoping we would be allowed to go naturally but i would rather everything be safe for LO so induction it is (unless she decides to come a bit early - my DH reckons christmas day lol)

Would be nice for our LO's to share a birthday

have also been suffering with insomnia for the past couple of days - waking up at bang on 4am, hence me logging on here now! I wonder if its just baby gearing me up for the night feeds?

Hey Ladies, I hope your little ones are doing well, bet they're real cuties, smiling away by now. Just thought I'd respond to this post incase you're ever online as I'm now feeling those exact stabbing pains. They reall take my breath away and are right down near my lady bits :O
I'm only 35 weeks but also been told 3/5 engaged. Did your babas arrive soon after you experienced this in the end?
Is anyone else getting these pains?
Thanks
Caz

Hi Caz

I was induced at 38 weeks but I was already well on my way to giving birth - I'd been having contractions on and off for around a week and only had a 5 hour labour once the hospital started the induction

Looking back I think I'd been having the stabbing pains for about 3 weeks before I had her

Good luck x

Thanks Ellie, I'm due to be induced at 39 weeks (GD) so hopefully it'll be before then. I was induced at 38 weeks last time and like you had a very quick labour once they'd started me off (only 2 and a half hours), so I'm on guard as don't want to be caught short!

Gestational Diabetes - it's standard if you are on any medication. Was 38 weeks last time as was on Insulin but have managed to control without this time so they are leaving me a little longer. I think from Ellie's details it was a medical thing too.
