Hello everyone,

I'm stopping in too. DH is at work at 5.00 tomorrow morning so I said we could have some bucks fizz (tesco's own at just 1.99!!) and some naked cuddles (seeing as I've been a bit self conscious recently.)

I am feeling sooooo unorganised. How big is too big for a hospital bag??!! I need to get one ready just in case I have to go (fingers crossed I don't) plus I think it'll be handy to have everything in one place. I printed off Bells' list and DH was like '12 pairs of knickers!!!!'

Splodge's movements have changed now from big kicks and thumps to more jiffling and wriggling!!

As for Lady Gardens, mine is horrendous!!

Hey everyone, hope you had a fantastic Christmas and Santa was good to you all! No Crimbo babies I see... how's about some New Year ones? Cheryl, sounds like your LO isn't far away now - hope everything is ok with you.

Jane, sorry to hear you've had some worries but am really glad to hear they're looking after you and your wee one. I'm sure she is just fine, but that's good you're getting monitored at the hospital.

Suzy, great to see you here on 3rd trimester already! Although I'm sure the time hasn't gone as quick for you ;) It's so hard to not stress isn't it? I've been the same most of the way through, and even now I still panic if LO hasn't wriggled for a couple of hours or so. I know I'll be the same until I'm holding the wee rascal in my arms! 3rd tri is a great milestone to reach though, and I've def found it the quickest.

Hmm, the lady garden. I had good intentions of booking in for a wax after I stopped work, but never got round to it. I attempted a wee trim myself yesterday, but gave up. I guess LO's not going to care if mummy hasn't tidied the erm - foliage... :snigger: Nothing else doing here - head was 1/5 palpable on Tuesday and I'm still getting loads of BHs, but no show or anything yet. Looks like we may be jumping on the late arrival bandwagon too!

Going to be staying home for the bells tonight, first time in years, and it'll just be me and DH which will be lovely. Think we're going to get Chinese takeaway, if the snow doesn't get too heavy. After all my whinging before Christmas, DH managed to guilt trip the in-laws into taking the sofa bed so I got to sleep in my own bed after all! Dunno if it was really worth it though, as we just had to put up with FIL moaning about how uncomfy it was for 2 days...grrr.

Flic, my (very large) hospital bag still isn't fully packed :O I don't even have a nursing bra yet!

Anyway, hope you all have a wonderful start to 2010. Come on Cheryl, Jen and Dilly, bring on those New Year babies!

Hope you all have a great Hogmanay and a Happy Baby filled 2010!!!!!!

The hospital bag list on the forum here is a bit long alot of us felt at the time. What I did feel was necessary was loads of knickers and plenty of pads. I had to stay in a couple of days and was changing them really often.

As for ladygardens - I can honestly say there does come a point where it doesn't matter anymore. I never imagined I would ever feel like that but I did when I was in labour! :snigger:

Moogle and Suzy, I think we all worry throughout our pregnancies. I was saying to DH yesterday funnily enough that I wished I hadn't worried nearly so much as I had done but hindsight is a great thing isn't it, especially when you want something as much as we want these little miracles,x

Flic- my hospital 'bag' is actually a medium sized suitcase on wheels... and baby has a seperate holdall bag... and DP has a 'little' bag of snacks, drinks and mags too. I've only packed for one night stay in hospital. Have I gone overboard?!?! Towels have taken up a lot of room.... packed 2 bath sheets, a bath towel and hand towel. Figured I would have a shower morning and night and want fresh towels for each. Our hospital doesn't provide towels so I know these will be needed. Other than that nothng too exciting. I did use a lot from the thread about hospital bags but reduced the quantities... still ended up looking like I'm ready for a weeks holiday.

Angels & Babies- I was sooooo worried for most of my pregnancy and it was only the last few weeks I started to relax. Several people told me not to wish it away and enjoy being pregnant but I was always desperate to get to the next 'milestone' to check baby was ok. I think I would tell people the same bit of advice though. Being pregnant has been amazing so far- I am lucky- and I wish I had spent a little more time enjoying and less worrying!

Moogle- Lady Gardens (How long before someone uses that as their screen name?!?! :snigger: ) I also had the best of intentions but sadly money is just too tight at the moment to justify spending £30 on the Brazillian I intended... and actually the last one I had around 20 weeks really bloody hurt. Considering I'm a regular and never found it particularly painful before it came as quite a shock! ;( Will just have to try and do it myself but I always end up looking like a badly plucked chicken! I'm sure my baby won't care too much either. With tomorrow's due date looming I know I'll not get it done...

Cheryl- Hope you're ok. RLT is lovely. Not sure how much you should drink each day though, had 2 cups already. Can't see the harm, it's caffine free and 'natural'.

Wee Janey- Hope monitoring went ok!

Midwife visit went ok. Have booked in for next Thurs. MW said she will ring hospital after that appointment and book my sweep and induction if no action before. Felt like crying. DO NOT WANT INDUCTION!!! Though it seems that just because I do not want it doesn't mean it won't happen. It's policy here to sweep on 12th day and induce on 14th so I suppose at least I know that I will have baby in next 15 days.

Has Jensqui posted today? You don't think... xfingers

Hello,

That's another thing, when should you buy a nursing bra??? I won't feel too daft packing a huge bag now. Will make sure I pack plenty of knickers and pads.

I've also been worried throughout. Especially before scans. I could never sleep. In fact I'm tempted to book a private one just to check everything is ok.

Moogle - I'm pleased that you got to keep the bed. I'd rather have an ear bashing than not sleep or be even more uncomfortable.

Dilly - Pleased the m/w went ok. Hopefully you'll get through without the induction. Fingers crossed LO comes in the next week.

Good luck, Janey, I'm sure you will be fine - keep thinking positively and the excitement will get you through!

Dilly, Your bags sound about right to me. They sound similar to the ones I packed. I needed everything I took with me but not necessarily in the same order as I was admitted before I went into labour for induction. Afew MW's commented that I had alot of stuff but when I explained why they saw the logic. The only thing I didn't use at the time was the snacks in labour as I wasn't allowed to eat in case we needed to go to theatre but DH ate those! :snigger: :yumyum:

Janey- Not that you'll see this but thinking of you for your Induction.

Cheryl- Not long now then!

My LO seems quieter the past couple of days but sure this is lack of room. 3 days ago LO was incredibly active all day- think I'm now worrying that he/ she is not doing the same every day. Will see how it goes til lunchtime then might ring day unit. Seems a few of us have gone in to be monitored recently. Think I'm just being over anxious now!

Well, Happy New Year to all... and Happy Due Date to me.

Due dates... what a load of bollocks, eh?!?!

hope all is going well Janey with the induction.

Eagerly awaiting news from you too Cheryl!

saw MW yesterday and had a bit of unexpected excitement. She couldn't be 100% sure that jellybean was still head down and as my due date is tomorrow we were sent to the hospital straight away for a scan. Sonographer immediately saw that it was still cephalic position so panic over very quickly. Funny to see the baby again as haven't had a scan since 20 weeks. Head now moved into the pelvic area. has a huge belly and gangly legs now. Was all over very quickly apart from the drive home in blizzard and fog - took over an hour for what is normally a 15 min journey. Edinburgh on a snowy Hogmanay is not the time to be on the road!

Anyway, have to phone MW over the w/e to arrange another appt for next week. At the moment there are no appt slots, but she's hoping someone will deliver and then I can have their space. When I said 'hopefully I'll be the one delivering' she gave me a 'not very likely' smile. Bit digruntled not to have an appt time and don't want to be phoning up every day to see if there is one available. Also will not entertain the idea of not being seen next week, even if i have to see the GP again! My BP and urine are all fine, baby moves loads (despite being able to see on the scan that there isn't much space) and heart rate is fine but I do think I should be monitored closely now.

Little bit disappointed that there is no imminent arrival. All the girls from my NCT class have now delivered - only one of them went over her due date and that was only by 4 days.

well, going to check over my hospital bag in a bit - been packed for a few weeks now and honestly can;t remember what is in there! I;ve only packed enough stuff for one night but have a supplementary bag for Al to bring in in case I have to stay longer. Have empty cool bag sitting by the fridge ready to pile in the little bottles of water that are in the freezer and things like bananas that can't pack beforehand. Beginning to think that I will end up being induced though.....

Happy New Year everyone. It is probably early to hear of any news from Jane and Cheryl yet. Anyone in contact with them. Happy due date Dilly. Everybody is getting impatient in my family and wondering when baby will here. I was sure he would be here by now, but Lo seems very comfortable in there. Went shopping for nursing bras yesterday, but there was none in my size in M & S. Will have to buy em online.

Wow it's all kicked off over New Year 2010! Happy New Year to you all by the way!

Thinking about Cheryl and Jane, wonder if anything's happened yet? Jen, Dilly, Rightans, I'm sure it won't be long for you guys either...

One thing's for definite - it's not going to be much be longer for me! Waters broke in an almighty gush at 5.30am this morning, half an hour after I finally managed to doze off. I've been having contractions since yesterday afternoon, but they're very erratic. Even now, they're coming about every 15 minutes but aren't really all that bad at the moment. MW has told us just to stay home for now until I start contracting every 5 mins, but if nothing happens we'll go and get checked out later on this afternoon. I just keep worrying about LO in there without his comfy bag of fluid to slosh about in!

Right, am off to check the hospital bag is ready. Never did get a nursing bra though...

Hope the rest of you ladies and bumps are doing well today xxx

Happy New Year everyone, haven't been on in a while and can hardly keep up.

Jane I hope things start moving for you soon dear.

Cheryl & Moogle how are things progressing with you?

Flic, hope you're doing OK.

AFM - strange having a sober time over the festivities and even weirder now it's all over and beginning to dawn on me that this baby is REALLY coming soon! Haven't packed my bag yet but think I'll do that tomorrow. Got MW appt on Tues, to discuss the birth etc.....ahh! Will also have to agree a date to go down to the mainland of Shetland before the due date. Because we're 2 ferries and a bit of a drive away they probably won't let us stay home right up to the date. I'm hoping that going down the week before will be early enough. We're quite lucky as my folks live on the mainland so we can stay with them - but it will drive my poor DH crazy having to stay with the in-laws!

Anyway, good luck everyone.

Still waiting... feeling very impatient now even though it's only 4 days late. I'm not uncomfortable or anything but just so desperate to meet baby that I'm finding it hard to wait.

I was so sure I would have baby early that I didn't really plan any activities for the 2 weeks after my due date. I'm just sitting around waiting... and waiting! Trying all the old wives tails... have to say thought we had cracked it with the 'sex' one. That night baby was moving lots and I had several twinges but this settled down again by morning.

Luckily, Sainsburys have Pineapple on offer at 94p so today I shall be mostly eating that!

Hope the rest of you are doing better... Cheryl, Jane, Jen... have you popped yet? (Oh the jelousy if you have!!!)

Ooooh Dilly, I'd be getting impatient too!! To be honest I am already and I'm still weeks away!!

Suzy - Good luck with your jab honey. And the snow! We've got loads down here. Couldn't get out the drive yesterday!

AFM - I am back at hospital soon for even more monitoring. FIL is taking me so I don't have to drive. This baby is gonna have medical notes as big as mine!! I'm at the consultants tomorrow too. Its my nice cons who drilled me and diagnosed me and he's lovely. He's so calm and relaxed and positive. He's called Mr. Odukoya and between him, his registrar Dr. Singh and the secretary they are wonderful.

No more snow here yet... thankfully. Really hoping it stays away until after LO arrives. Would be just our luck to have to get to hospital in Blizzard conditions. You guys who have bad snow- take care and wrap up warm!!!

still waiting....very impatiently!! snow, ice and sub-zero temps here not helping matters. did manage to drive out to shopping centre today so at least have had an outing, but walking from house is out of the question as pavements very dangerous.

next MW appt is Thursday lunchtime. Don;t expect any change between now and then, to be honest. Jellybean still very active so obviously has no intention of seeing the big wide world yet, no matter how much daddy keeps telling it that playtime and wriggles will be much better when it does make an appearance!

hope you are all keeping well. any news from Jane??

Hi ladies. Happy due date to me and no signs of baby making an appearance. I agree babies on here like to make their Mums wait. Went to midwife today driving cautiously in these icy conditions. urine, bp ok. Baby still about 2/5th engaged. Met another lady there and she scared me with her story of first labour.... 3 day labour, ventouse and then forceps, episiotomy and 2nd degree tear. She had the whole lot.

Hello everyone!!

And I thought it was scary over here because you all have babies!!! I wish I'd stayed in 2nd tri what with all these babies hanging on and not wanting to come out!!

Jen - I hope LO makes an appearance for you soon and doesn't make you wait too long.

Sasha - I'm sorry your hips are worse. It must be really painful. :hugs: But ooooh, 8lb each!!! Thats great!!

Happy due date Rightans!!!

Dilly - Thats what this thread should be called 'The Waiting Room'

AFM - Monitoring went ok again today. Still no accelerations. Seeing cons tomorrow. Mo movement again today so I've got no idea what LO is playing at!!

Rightans, Sacha is right. That lady's labour sounded exactly like mine and I would STILL DO IT AGAIN!!!!
You actually get to a point where nothing bothers you except getting the baby born and in your arms.
I think I have felt worse following the birth than I did during (not that I remember a great deal of it).
Don't worry, I promise you, you will be fine,x

Welcome Steph,x

I hope everyone else is ok - Jane, Dilly, Moogle (sorry if I missed anyone).

Flic, is your wee one any more active?

Hi Steff and welcome to the third tri!! have to disagree with Dilly - the third tri seems to have dragged on for ages for me...but then I think I've been unlucky with carpal tunnel getting worse, developing rash (PUPPP) and return of morning sickness. Still, at most only 10 more days to go I reckon so not long now.

Flic - good to hear they are taking care of you with the monitoring. Sounds like your LO gets itself into a comfy position and doesn't like to come out of it!!

had a really bad night's sleep last night so feeling a bit useless today. Has been more snow here in the night and is now very very cold outside. Have got the MW tomorrow which is only a 5 minute drive down the hill. However, Al's parents have offered to take me so that there's no risk (sometimes have to park quite a walk away from the surgery and pavements very slippery). Probably a good idea as last week we had to make a dash to the hospital straight from seeing her!

hope everyone is keeping warm in this snow xx

Flic, I hope Lo is more active today. How did the consultant appt go today?

Thanks for all the reassurances. It did sound scary. Still no signs of labour. Infact I have been sleeping very well apart from going to loo loads of time at night. I have been walking loads inside the house, eating pineapple, bouncing on my birthing ball. But the baby is not budging. We even tried [zx084] but could not find a suitable position. so that was a bit disappointing. I am booked for planned section on Friday so haven't got long to wait till I see LO one way or other. But it would have been better if I had a normal delivery. As long baby comes out alright in this world I don't care which way.

Got MW appointment tomorrow. Should get booked in for a sweep and induction for next week.

Rightans- Am trying the same things in desperation to avoid Induction. Made me chuckle when you said you couldn't find a good position for sex. We had to persevere... and when baby didn't show any signs of moving DP was incredibly offended. LOL! Have told him we need to try again but he is convinced baby is too warm and won't appear in this snowy weather.

Jen- Honestly I found the 3rd tri went fast... but since going overdue I feel like time is going backwards. It must be torture for you too! I JUST WANT TO MEET THIS BABY NOW!!!

Hope the rest of you are ok and staying warm! xxx

Yey!!! Steff you made it!!! It is scary here!!

Well today I went to see the cons for 10.50. At 11.50 we finally got to see him, only to find out that him was a her and not the cons but a different doctor but she was nice so that was good.

She said that when baby is not happy they restrict their movements in order to preserve energy to protcet their brain as this is their most important organ. So she said that this could be what LO is doing but they don't know why because everything looks ok on scans and CTG.

She then said that she wants me to be monitored everyday and have twice weekly scans to check the blood flow through the umbilical cord and make sure that is ok then to see her again next Wednesday.

She said that they don't want to deliver baby just yet because it is still early so they're keeping a close eye on me.

I'm back again tomorrow at 9am for monitoring.

Its never ending.

Thanks everyone for asking though. LO hasn't shifted. Still in exactly the same place. Not moved at all!! I've felt some big body parts shifting but no kicks or anything like that and apparently I should still be getting them.

Its been a long day.

Everyone is still here I see!!! Hurry up babies!!!

Glad it was all well at hospital today, Flic. Its good they are monitoring you everyday.

Lol. We will have to try again today. Any other tips. read the thing about nipple massage on net which made me laugh. apparaently it needs to be done over an hour and 15 minutes each side. :snigger:

One of the lady from my antenatal class has delivered. I was due first on the list.
