That's a shame you couldn't get your sweep today, Vanessa.
If my symptoms tail off, you and I are on for the same day! That would be exciting wouldn't it?

I'm still having the same period type pains and and tightenings which seem to come in clusters then stop for a bit. I have come over really tired as well so am going to try and get a wee sleep just now in case I come to life again after midnight! :snigger:

Poppit and Pammy is the drip that bad ? they want me to have a epidural as the second twin has alot of fluid it will prob turn when the first one comes out so they may have to manually turn it, so maybe if the drip is that bad i better get that epidural FAST!! :snigger:

congrats on finishing work Jen make the most of it and just rest !!

i have to go to the midwife in a min and have to try driving as no one is around and its over a mile and i cant walk that far.

So, Midwifey Sharon ...what exactly did that mean?? ...that if she broke my waters and it gushed out the head would drop with a thump kinda thing???? ?(
I thought she would have been more worried about the head being too close to where she was fiddleing for fear of poking it!!!! LoL! :O

Still here! Had a really good sleep last night and was up at the loo afew times but really settled.
Still had twinges overnight and afew more significant pains since getting up and one of them got worse on getting in the bath. The shape of my bump has really changed too and I can defo feel movements of this wee one moving down even more. I think things are happening but who knows how long it will all take from now on. I realise it could be afew days of this so am trying just to pace myself as best I can.
I have afew DVDs in mind to watch when it starts proper, including my very favourite - Rita, Sue and Bob too. I could act it and it really is quite a dreadful film but also really funny and just what I think I might need to keep my spirits up!
I've taken a gum infection just like I did every month prior to a period which is quite strange..... also bloody sore too with a stabbing pain in my ear.
DH has decided to take some time off from now and I'm glad that he can get a wee rest for a bit too.
Hope everyone is ok and I am looking forward to us having an exciting week with the promise of 4 babies!

sweep

Hi Vanessa, the m/w wouldn't want to accidenally break your water if the head is high - if there was a gush of waterand a gap beside baby's head it could possibly wash a loop of cord down (not good) Rupturing membranes with a high head needs to be done by a Dr in a controlled way. Hope that helps.

epidural

Hi Sacha, the reason they want you to have an epidural is because if a problem arises with twin 2 after first baby is born, they could very quickly deliver the baby by c/section if your epidural is already in place. It's purely a precaution, as most twins don't have a problem.
If you do have to be induced on Wed you'd be as well to have your epidural set up right at the start - no point in having pain if you don't have to, is there? The reason contractions feel more painful with the drip is that they build up in a much shorter time than they would in nomal labour, so your body finds it harder to cope.
Good luck for Wed.

Hi everyone, just a flying visit, will read up on todays news a bit later as i'm on my way to see my dad. Just been to midwife and i'm 2 5ths engaged, she said thats as far as little one will get until I go into labour which could be anytime. Everything fine and she thinks Peanut will be around 7 / 7.5 pounds which is alot better than the 10/11 pounds DP and his siblings were thank god. Back to see her on Xmas Eve when she'll do a sweep (if Peanut isnt here by then) and then induction at 42 weeks if that hasnt worked. My god i'm gonna be a mum!!!!!!! xxx

good news Cheryl. Why does your MW say that your LO won't become any more engaged until labour ?(

My MW never gives me any info about potential size, etc!

My Dr was trying to talk me out of epidural yesterday saying there are other things instead...... I think I will decide how painful it is! :snigger:

Sounds good you got a bit of a plan there, Cheryl. I felt heaps better after we got the same yesterday.

Pain getting a bit stronger now but am still ok and think it might be a while yet.
Still, you never know! I shall keep you posted,x

I was DEAD AGAINST epidural before, But trust me I was begging for it, Half way through my labour I was crying calling the MW a liar cuz she said she would get me one soon :snigger:
Agree with Sharon before drip starts unless you want to see why then ask for it :snigger: Also yes to all drugs.

I managed fine with my natural contractions just breathin through them and after they broke my water they were coming stronger but still managable.

Drip got put on and the MW was actually offering me morphine cuz she seen state I was in :snigger: she told me they only give if you ask

I'm still here, Sacha!
Still having quite alot of pains though which I can only assume is a good sign.
It is now over 48hrs since my sweep now.
I contacted my Acupuncture lady and if I've not gone into labour by Saturday then I will go Sunday and Monday mornings for some treatments and then I am due into hospital Monday afternoon.
DH finished his work Wednesday. When I started having pains he came home from work a wee bit early and then we decided he would just start his leave from yesterday as he has loads of time to take anyway. We both figured he could do with a wee rest before all the excitement starts, especially as he has had a really sore throat and cold - wee soul,x :D

hope it happens this weekend Lisa.

I'm not against any pain relief and will take what I need at the time but obviously hope to have as little as possible.

hello all just popping in. any more babies yet?

re:epidural....keep an open mind to everything! i had gas ans air early on (but i think it works better towards the end!) and the diamorphine. as my labour was so quick i was sleepy when i had to dao the real work lol so i think thats one to have earlier on. the epidural (i didnt have this time as there was no time :snigger:) only laast for so long and can be topped up which is quite good.

well we've finally chose a name....MICHAEL RICHARD DAVID and we registered the birth today. his sleep pattern is still all over the shop..ie not at night. but DH has been up with him at night and lets me sleep lurve just brings him back so i can feed him.

hope you are all doing ok and look forward to more baby news :D

Dooey- Those pictures are absolutley beautiful... and so are the hats! Did you provide those or the studio? I'm glad I have a baby on the way so I don't have to feel too Broody looking at Blair. GORGEOUS! 88)

Saw the MW yesterday. She asked if I thought baby had dropped. I said yes but was concerned that LO might turn around or crawl back up (LOL!) as so active at night... she said this was unlikely! Baby is starting to engage... not really sure what that means... feels lower though. I was really uncomfortable yesterday evening and had to walk around with my legs wider than usual... such a good look! I think the exercise ball must help baby drop.

MW asked if I had given up worked and packed my hospital bag yet. When I said no she told me I should get my arse in gear- well, words to that effect. I've been saying I'll pack the bag since 32 weeks- and I'm still no closer!

Poppit your lo looks great and content, congratulations again. Lisa and Vannessa I hope that your lo's make and apperance soon. Jensqui when the others have been off and had their lo's I'll still be about. Not due for another 7 weeks although people keep saying that I'm going to have my lo early (hope not too early). Been suffering from heartburn recently but now got the good old gaviscon and it seems to be doing the trick. Hope you all have a good evening and rest of weekend.

It's my last week at work... actually feeling a bit sad about that. Not sure how I'll cope sitting arund waiting. I keep telling myself I've 5- and not 3- weeks to go. It seems most of you went pretty far over so I'm getting prepared for the same! Finally packed baby's hospital bag... mine almost done. Baby can't come until thats sorted anyway!

Good luck LIsa- and all! xxx

good luck today Lisa!!!

Dilly - I felt the same about mat leave and, after a week, have really missed my friends at work. Just seems weird and I am bored at home waiting. Like you I keep telling myself it won't be for long, but I know I could be waiting until about Jan 13th which seems like forever!!! One of my best friends is due the same day as me. She has been in hospital all weekend with high blood pressure and looks like they will induce her today or tomorrow. Glad that all is normal with me, but a little bit envious that she will be meeting her baby soon.

First time here!

I haven't really used the forums since i became pregnant - think i was to scared in case i jinxed things. I'm now 29 weeks and beginning my third trimester - so i've decided to take the plunge and join in. Its a pretty scary place to join, i was just reading through the recent posts and its very exciting hearing about all these babies about to be born - if not a little bit terrifying. Good luck to all those who are expecting a delivery in the next few days. Will do my best to keep up with you all x
