Can't wait to hear how you get on, Poppit.
We have our sweep on Wednesday and they MAY give us an induction date - who knows! I just hope it isn't the same MW as we will be none the wiser!
At least I will see the consultant so will ask him all my questions.
If the sweep doesn't work, I'm going for 3 days of Acupuncture to get things going,x

I had a really crappy sleep last night - 1 hour I got in total.
Then I ended up crying at 8am and then went to sleep for about 2 and a half hours.
I feel really washed out now so am just going to have a quiet day.

woohoo, been offline for a few days and 2 babies

congrats Mitzymoo and Poppit.

hope everyone else is well and the new mummies are doing great.

think ive forgotten everything i read with the news of 2 new babies 9and my mushed baby brain).

had another busy weekend with more visitors (and more to come this weekend), had my growth scan yesterday, she couldnt measure the head due to position but the babies tummy measured spot on for dates which is good and shes heads down and we saw some hair which was cool.

MW asked yesterday if things are slowing down with work and i just laughed - more like building up as we have loads to finish before xmas.

Hope everyone has a good day

Wee Jane- know what you mean about things going mad at work before Xmas! I leave work in 2 weeks and things are manic. I have so much to do- or maybe it's just that I worry so much about how things will go without me... not that I am that irreplaceable but I like to feel that there will be some impact from me leaving!

Met my HV yesterday, she seemed nice and also had Swine Flu jab. We had hospital visit last Saturday- that was abit of an eye opener. All the staff were lovely but when I saw the first room (plain hospital bed) to give birth in I welled up. I really don't know why, I think it scared me a bit... it just looked so much like a hospital!!! :innocent: How daft is that? I'm not sure what I was expecting!!!

We were shown the new delivery rooms with birting pools and birthing chairs. These were much nicer so I'm still hoping to go with these rooms. Although I did realise no gas and air available in these areas!!! I was hoping for as natural as possible birth but... well, again the harsh reality may have brought things home to me!!!

Apparently you can't have a water birth unless there are enough staff for 1:1 care. As I'm due New Years Day, I'm not convinced this will be an option for me. The MW promised that they still run a full staff team over Xmas and New Year but I feel really skeptical!

As we were walking around the car park with the MW a man came out of hospital. The MW asked him how he was and he gave a little cheer and said ''It's a girl. I've got a little girl!'' His face was a picture. Honestly, it was so touching! Me and DP both looked at each other and smiled. We've had such a long journey to get here... whatever happens it's going to be worth it!

Still no sign of this little one this morning!

I felt the same, Dilly when we went to see the labour suite.
Although I have been a nurse for many years, it was the reality of what is about to happen to me that really made me scared.
It's such a big thing to have a baby and I find it quite overwhelming that it is now happening to us after a long time.

I've been feeling a bit unwell and this morning have a headache.
I just phoned the unit there and I've just had some Paracetamol and breakfast and I've call back in 1 hour.
I've felt a bit under the weather for afew days now but decided I had better just run it past one of the midwives.

Hope everyone has a good day,x

Dilly and Lisa i feel the same every time i go to the hospital i feel like i could pass out the ICSI is the only medical thing i have ever had done and hospitals and dentists scare the life out of me. i just need to keep thinking that im having something nice at the end of it and that there is lots of people far worse off having all sorts of nasty things done.
Hope u are feeling better lisa i feel funny today this morning i felt quite sick and i have got very very mild period style pains but i dont think its anything i think i just look out for signs now ?(
Dilly ur arm is gonna be daed for days. no gas and air ? really, whys that ?
how long have you got jane left at work i mean?

Sacha-not sure why there is no gas and air. I thought it might be because it would be dangerous to have you getting 'high' whilst in the water- unless they bring it in on a portable machine. I'm going to ask my MW on Thurs. DP really wants a go on the gas and air so will be upset if they don't have it!

Oh, and arm still aches!

Lisa- hope you are feeling better! It must be strange working as a Nurse and then being on the other side of things when you are pregnant!

Hi Dilly, There's no reason why you can't have entonox in the pool, as long as you're not alone - but you shouldn't be alone in thr pool anyway! They will have portable cylinders of entonox.
It's even stranger being a midwife and then being on the other side :D

Congrats Poppit, you'll be glad to be back home. Hope you're settling in well.

AFM - had MW appt today. All well, LO is head down and seems fine. It seems to be moving on so quickly now. Especially since my sis had a little girl last Fri, nearly 10lb - makes my eyes water :P She seemed so much further on than me, it really won't be long until it's us.

Hope everyone else is well.

Just back from clinic.
Baby 3 fifths engaged now and I had a sweep which went well and wasn't nearly as uncomfortable as I have heard which was good.
Hoping things start themselves now. If not, I'm booked to go in on Monday afternoon for a pessary and then check Tuesday am and possibly further pessaries or drip if needed.
I feel much happier at last having a kind of plan although I'm knackered! I had under 2hrs sleep again last night with this bloody trapped wind. I'm away to have a wee rest now.
Hope to hear from Vanessa later on.
Hope everyone is well today,x

Hiya everyone
Sorry not to personals, not been on in soooooooo long and i haven't a clue who's who and what's what!!!!
I have a daughter who is 21months, we had icsi and i am now 32 weeks pregnant (very shocking natural conception).
I had cholestasis last pregnancy and was induced a week early so this time round i have had regular blood tests and so far all is well. My belly is really itchy but think thats due to stretching!! This time round have been really constipated so have been to the doctors and he's given me some lactulose, so fingers crossed that'll do the trick!!
I work 3 days a week and was hoping to work until 21st jan (i am due 3rd feb) but don't know if i'm going to last that long cos i am so tired already!!! Will see how i feel after xmas hols.
I am carrying really low again, its lower this time and i look ready to drop!!
What i am sick of is people constantly saying how big i am, and am i having twins!!! People i don't even know, i think its rude and its doing my head in!!!!
Anyway hope everyone's pregnancies are going well.

Hi Ruthie, I know what you mean about the comments, at first people kept saying that I was huge and was I sure I wasnt having twins and now people keep saying how small I am when in fact i'm measuring dead on - I go from being annoyed at them to being worried that i'm not the right size but my MW just laughs and says to ignore them. You are planning to work abit late but only you know your own body so just do what it tells you xxx

Ooh Lisa sounds like things are really moving for you now, not long now hun. Sorry about the wind, i've been getting it a bit lately (but luckily not during the night), DP keeps laughing at me i'm soooo lady like lol :O.

Got MW tomorrow so will see if Peanut has moved any further down, I think she has as my nightly trips to the loo have increased dramatically X(. Oh well, its all worth it.

Hope everyone else is well xxx

Thanks Cheryl,

I'm getting afew twinges now so hopefully something is happening.
Hope everything is well when you see your MW and that your LO is starting to come down a bit more ready for the big event!

Like you both, Cheryl and Ruthie, I've had loads of people say how big I am and even as far as that I was ready to go into labour when I was early 30 weeks!
I generally take it as a compliment as I waited so long to be in this position.
I think people generally think it is not offensive as this seems to be the only time when we are "allowed" to gain weight without getting slated for it.
Even my Gran keeps saying even now, "I think there are twins in there!" Even though I've had 5 scans saying there is one little girl in there!

The only exception for me was when my MIL for a while early on kept digging at me about my weight and that I shouldn't be as big, etc. DH had a word about it and there has been nothing since. It also helped make me feel better when at my growth scan they said our baby was quite big! :snigger:

Hi Ruthie well i am huge and having twins so i know what you mean about everyone thinking that they can comment on ur size and shape and it does get on my nerves now!
Lisa i hope it starts to work - how you feeling ? if the sweep does nothing will they give you a pessary then send you home ? cos they do that in hospital here and then wont let us out.
well im back from the funeral and it was as nice as they can be it was a wicker coffin with beautiful dried hydrangers so looked nicer than the norm.
i have got my feet up now as they are huge but might do some cooking later to freeze.
hope everyone else is ok x

Twinges getting a wee bit stronger in the past hour so just keeping a wee eye on them to see.
I feel ok after the sweep, Sacha. They will give me a pessary and keep me there to monitor me and then see about either another or the drip the next morning,x

Hi lasses,

Getting exciting Lisa, keep us posted....

I know exactly what you mean about people saying that you're big. Just today someone in the local shop was surprised how long I still had to go. But I never thought of looking at it positively after waiting for so long - I will try... :P It's just weird, I'm normally a 14 and am always trying to hold in my belly or stand up straight etc so for people to comment on my size it's just weird! The MW yesterday didn't measure me so I don't know if I'm still on target size wise - I have been up til now. She did feel a lump up high and looked worried and then gripped right down low (ouch!) and then said, "oh it's OK, I just felt a big hard lump up there and was worried it was the head but I think it's just got a big bum"!!! :snigger:

Hope everyone else is having a good day.
Cx

oooh exciting lisa....

our hospitals policy was monitor for 20mins to get baseline...pessary, monitor for an hour...send you for a bimble about
6hrs later if nothing, another pessary, monitor etc.....depending on if this has opened enough for them to break your waters tthey will do and leave you for no more than 2 hours and then put you on a drip...

the staff were great in explaining. until changeover when i had the cow. i said the pain was strong n continuous she replied it will only get worse!! then i asked for the diamorphine :D

Posted on your thread poppit
Please persevere, everythin your saying is exact;y what I said at same stage as you. I thought no-one understood and my baby was different but everyone was right.
If you look through the breastfeeding thread I have about 4 different posts, most recently yesterday :snigger: all with worries I have had and I remember saying about day night wrong way round too but its just you make more milk at night so babies suck more to up your supply.
It gets better :D

Hope to hear from Vanessa later on.

Well, I went to the Midwife for my sweep, but no joy, she could touch the cervix but didnt want to fiddle around too much as the baby's head was a bit too high up (I think that's what she said??) - although he is engaged.

So, no broken waters for me - am booked into Hospital for induction on Tuesday ....unless I can kick him out beforehand!!!!

Things are sounding exciting your end though Lisa ...good luck!!
