Hcg twins?

Do any of you twin mummies thinks I could possibly have twins, I had 2 beans put back in both grade1 8 cell, my hcg at 14 dpo was 129 and at 18dpo it was 1196 I had a small amount of brown spotting the last couple of days but the doctor doesn't seemed to concerned. I am waiting on my 21 dpo blood results which I had on Friday I will update when I have them xxxx

Hi Nicole

Huge congrats on your BFP!

Sorry I didn't have any bloods done but I have copied you a link re: HCG levels

HCG LEVELS IN PREGNANCY

It looks like your levels are high and so fingers crossed you'll have two on board!

Good Luck!

Congratulations rainbowbridge. My scans have shown twins. At 18dpo my hcg levels were 4,308 and at 21 dpo they were 13,201. At my first scan I was told my levels were high enough for triplets!!! I was relieved for it not to be :D

Look forward to hearing how you get on at your next testing.

RE: Hcg twins?

Hi NIcole

Many congrats on your recent :BFP: clap

Sounds like you have good hcg levels :D For comparison mine were approx 250 on 14dpo and 750 two days later and as you can see I'm expecting twins.

As you will have seen from the link Indie attached the ranges are pretty wide so it's impossible to say for sure if more than one is on board. When I got my hcg levels, I was of the opinion it was either twins or a very very strong singleton - pretty much a win win situation :smile:

Bet you can't wait for your scan! :goodluck:

I don't think I can stand the suspense! Can't you get your clinic to move the date :snigger:

I've noticed a bg difference in the approach different clinics have about scans. Some people are offered weekly routine scans, mine will offer this if you want (I live about 5 mins drive away and they've even offered me a scan the same day when I've had some spotting worries), others offer hardly any! Is this dependent on whether treatment is private or NHS?

Anyway, don't worry about you levels being "too" high. I was 13000+ 21DPO! The sonographers did joke prior to my scan that it could be triplets with those levels - couldn't see the humour in that myself :D

Hi hun

It's not 'normal' but it does happen :sadface:

Rest up first and foremost. Have a read through this thread

BLEEDING IN PREGNANCY

and also do a search on 'spotting' on the forum and you will find lots of girls who have been in the same situation.

Fingers crossed that it soon stops xx

I've been spotting from 13 dpo and have had 3 scans at 6, 7 and 8 weeks all showing babies are fine. Apparently, it's very common, the Tamba website says 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 women experience it. I was really worried about it until the last scan when the sonographer seems to have a possible explanation for it (i.e. I wasn't having a threatened miscarriage) and part of the worry for me was the uncertainty of this.

Ahh thankyou roxy, you are so lovely you won't believe how much calmer you have made me feel. I have read that if it is twins (which obviously I don't know yet) spotting is quite common. I have no pain and feel pretty good otherwise no much sickness I was worrying about that as well. I guess I willl just be a worry wart until my scan xxx

Have you got sickness quite bad in this pregnancy roxy, I'm just a little concerned as I have a grouchy tummy but the nurse said I might cause she has upped my cyclogest to 3 400mg a day so it could be that. The reason I am probably so scarred is I'm having all the sane symptoms as last time and I found out I had a blighted ovum at 7 week but didn't miscarry till 10 weeks. The only differnce this time is my hcg is alot higher, so I guess only the scan will tell xxx

I really appreciate your anxieties as I feel very similar. I had a missed miscarriage detected at 10 weeks (the embryo had stopped growing at 7 weeks) but the only symptoms I'd got was the tiniest amount of spotting. It wasn't until my EPAU scan that I found there was no heartbeat. It was the biggest shock. (See my recent diary post for a more detailed explanation of my neurosis!). Then I had an ectopic after my first treatment cycle. I just keep repeating a mantra that every pregnancy is different. As each day passes. I convince myself more.

I'd hope that if your hcg levels are rising well then you have a lot less to worry about.

ive had sickness quite bad, i had it from week 5 and was being sick up to 3 times a day, foul....i still feel sick 24/7 but have managed to not be sick for about 3 weeks.....but then there are twins in there so the midwife said sickness will prob be worse.... X(

Today has just been going from bad to worse, I phoned the doctors for my hcg and it's still not back and on top of that my brown spotting which I thought was bad enough has now turned to bright red :-( I have called the dr but apparently I'm not a emergency and just have to wait and see. I really don't know what to do with myself I started this thread thinking I might be having twins and now it looks like it all happening again and game over. I am just so scarred and don't know what to do xxx

i am really sorry your going through this... i know some EPU you can ring deirectly for advice but i think it depends on your local one i know mine you have to be referred from your GP but i know some of the girls on here have rung there EPU's for advice in the past... only other thing you could do is sit tight and if you start to feel worse or in a lot of pain ring your GP back or take yourself straight to the hospital...

i hope everything is ok...and try rest up as much as you can

Fingers crossed, go and get seen straight away

I hope yours does the same, there might be a bit of a wait but it's worth it for peace of mind. They may be ok with scanning you at this stage, I do hope so hun. So glad that the red has stopped, fingers crossed that Monday brings good news.

Your levels don't seem that high hun?

Quoted

* At 22 DPO, the average HCG level is 1287 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 185-3279 mIU/ml.
* At 23 DPO, the average HCG level is 2034 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 506-4660 mIU/ml.
* At 24 DPO, the average HCG level is 2637 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 540-10,000 mIU/ml.

Accordingly, the key to interpreting the true value of HCG measurements is to look at their progression. In general, the HCG level will double every two to three days in early pregnancy. Approximately 85 percent of normal pregnancies will have the HCG level double every 72 hours. However, as you get further along in your pregnancy and the HCG levels get higher, the expected doubling time increases.

* For HCG levels <1200 mIU/ml, the expected doubling time is 48-72 hours.
* For HCG levels 1200 to 6000 mIU/ml, the expected doubling time is 72-96 hours.
* For HCG levels >6000 mIU/ml, the expected doubling time is >96 hours.

HCG levels peak at about eight to 10 weeks of pregnancy and then decline, remaining at lower levels for the rest of the pregnancy. Here is a sample listing of expected HCG levels based on time after conception:

* 0-1 week: 0-50 mIU/ml
* 1-2 weeks: 40-300 mIU/ml
* 3-4 weeks: 500-6,000 mIU/ml
* 1-2 months: 5,000-200,000 mIU/ml

My levels at 21 dpo were 13500-ish. I didn't have any more blood tests after that. As Eeyore says, your results don't seem that high. What makes them think that it might be a molar pregnancy?

Glad they've brought your scan forward. It'll put your mind at ease.

Best of luck

Hi Nicole hun,
My beta at 25 DPO was 18456, and that was for twins.
It's actually really quite hard to predict from beta values if its going to be a multiple pregnancy or not, but your levels seem absolutely fine to me, both for a singleton or for twins. I don't know why they would even suspect a molar... that is rare, whereas spotting in an IVF pregnancy is actually quite common (not normal, but common).

Try not to worry because your levels are rising nicely, and hopefully that spotting is long gone.

Hello everyone well I'm just back now had to leave at 5.30 this morning and we were still late for the appointment as we got stuck in traffic on the motorway. I was dreading my scan but as you can see we have one just one perfect little baby in there. I asked if he could see where the bleeding was coming from but he couldn't and said it definatly wasn't the baby. I also asked why I had high levels and he said everyones different and you can't judge by levels as ling as there doubling. So I guess I now have to go and find another thread thankyou all so much and I wish you all the luck in the world xxx
