6 week scan - TWINS!

hiya all

thought i'd join this section as we've recently had our 6 week scan following IVF and we have twins!

One thing i was hoping for reassurance on if anyones had this... i've gotta go back for another scan next week as they were a little concerned with one of the heart beats, firstly the nurse couldnt find it, then the doc did but said it looks a little slower.. even though on one view they were beating the same. They were hard to see as they were squashed in and small so hoping this was the reason. One is also 7.1mm and one is 6mm. I'm now getting really scared that the little one might be in danger... has anyone had this but had the baby pick up and grow?

I'm also one of the rare few that had developed an arterial blockage, only happens to a handful, so i'm on blood thinners for the duration of pregnancy - oh joy! Never good when your doctor is excited as your only the 2nd arterial blockage she's seen - i'm not excited by it one bit! haha..

heres praying both my little miracles will be ok on Wednesday when i'm back in.

RE: 6 week scan - TWINS!

Hi Emma

Many congrats on hearing such fab fab news today!!

I'm afraid I can't really help you on your query though just to say that 1mm difference doesn't seem like much to me at all! As for the  concerns, again, sorry I don't know about this.

The good thing is that you'll get to see them again in a week's time when I'm sure all will be well

Sorry about the arterial blockage. There are a few girls on heparin for the duration of the pregnancy for various reasons so you're not alone. Happy jabbing :D

Congrats once again :D :D

xx

Just wishing you good luck for Wednesday! I hope you get happy news and let us know asap and then I'll put you on the expecting twins list! I'll put you on there now if you prefer but I know how I felt about 'jinxing' things when I was pregnant! Maybe you're more sensible than me?!

Congratulations :D

I can't be of help either I'm afraid on the meaurements - but it is entirely usual for one twin to be bigger than the other. Also measuring something that small on a screen is quite difficult - it depends a lot on the hands and eyes of whoever is carrying out the scan.

I will keep my fingers crossed that you'll see two very strong tiny heartbeats next week - it is amazing what difference a few extra days can do :hugs:

Congratulations Emma, as the others have said it's so had to get an accurate measurement of something so small and often one twin is smaller than the other, one of mine is still quite a bit smaller.

Anyway I hope all goes well and I'll be looking forward to hearing your news next week!

Good Luck

Congratulations, Emma. It's good to find another in the early stages of a twin pregnancy - there are a few others on the BFP chat thread if you feel like popping in on us.

I can't help with the measurements either - though it has made me think I should ask abut mine! I get a second scan on Tuesday as I've had a bit of spotting and am a little anxious about it. At my scan, the second embryo was harder to see too, so I'm hoping things will be clearer at the next one. Wishing you well for your's.

Hi Cemlyn and everyone else - there's a few of us on the BFP chatter thread. I'm not quite ready to declare myself on the twins list yet. Just feeling super cautioius. I'll ask after my next scan at 9+4 wks if all's well then :D

I've not even been brave enough to move to First Tri chat yet and I'm 8 weeks now :snigger:
