Been to the EPU

Well today I went to the EPU due to bleeding for last week or so getting more red and frequent now.

They could not see anything on the scan but said it might be too early. I had transfer on 6th Oct so should be about 5 weeks. Should they have still seen a little gest sac by now? Honest answeers please!!

Had my bloods done got to wait on them calling with results and then back on wed for repeat bloods

Not looking good X(

Please try not to worry. I had a scan at about the same time and they couldn't see anything, obviously I was worried but I had another one exactly a week later and saw the sac and heartbeat, and it happened exactly the same when I got pg before.

Sometimes they can't see anything at 5 weeks cos it is so, so small. The blood tests will tell you what you need to know though. Good luck.

It's so hard to tell hun. When did you have ET?

HCG LEVELS IN PREGNANCY

This thread has the *average* levels in - but remember they can vary a great deal.

What have they said to you at the EPU?

They should've doubled by then babes, dont worry ok, you are still getting strong positives on the tests and that HCG level is a nice number although relative to what week you are in I dont know. All I do know is that it has to be over 4 for a possible pregnancy to be viable.

Looking back actually I think I had my blood test in my 5th week and it was 192 I think! I would have to check my diary to be more accurate.

Its not over yet honey x

If you had ET on 6th, then if we class that as ovu time compared to a non tx cycle, then you are 21DPO today and your figures fall into this range

* At 21 DPO, the average HCG level is 1061 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 324-4130 mIU/ml.

Your numbers should be doubling every 72 hours, not 48, so don't expect them to have doubled by Wednesday. I don't agree with the level of 4, sorry. The 'norm' is between 17 and 119 at 14DPO, with the 'average' being 48.

There is a large variation in a "normal" HCG level for any given time in pregnancy. Caution must be used in making too much of HCG "numbers." Ultrasound findings after five or six weeks of pregnancy are much more predictive of pregnancy outcome than are HCG levels. You won't expect to see a gestational sac or the fetus until the HCG level reaches at least 1,200 mIU/ml.

I hope that helps hun

Sorry Eeyore, I was only going on what I had been told by my fertility clinic when they did my blood test. They said level 4 which was why I was so shocked when they said 128.9 or whatever it was. I think I even put that into one of my early diaries.

Im not a professional so I apologise for any confusion caused.

Hi twinkle, how are you? As Eeyore says the number vary between different people and they change over time, that's why they asked you to have more bloods. Also They can't really see much before 6 weeks.

How are you today hun?

Caution really must be used in making too much of hCG numbers. A normal pregnancy may have low hCG levels and still deliver a perfectly healthy baby.

The results on an ultrasound after 5 - 6 weeks gestation are much more accurate than using hCG numbers. An hCG of less than 5 mIU/cc is *usually negative*, over 25 mIU/cc usually positive, between 5 and 25 mIU/cc it's "equivoval" which simply means we don't know. It's also thought that hCG levels are also higher in women carrying a female fetus when compared to women carrying a male fetus, so it is possible that the pregnancy test becomes positive later in women carrying a male fetus.

A transvaginal ultrasound should be able to see at least a gestational sac once the hCG levels have reached between 1,000 - 2,000mIU/ml. Because levels can differentiate so much and conception dating can be wrong, a diagnosis should not be made by ultrasound findings until the level has reached at least 2,000.

A single hCG reading is not enough information for most diagnoses. When there is a question regarding the health of the pregnancy, multiple testings of hCG done a couple of days apart give a more accurate look at assessing the situation.

Had some red blood last night but mostly brown again this morning. Just when I wipe or insert pessary its on my fingers, and sometimes a smudge on my panty liner.

I totally broke down last night could not stop crying just feel totally gutted. Ive had a bad feeling about this since I got my positive tests. Just want to sleep till tomorrows results. Not expecting them to be good news, neither is DH.

Ive taken this week off work couldnt face it there.

Im thinking my levels are quite low x x x

Try and stay postive luv I know it's hard I had alot of brown spotting on and off for 2 weeks and when I got my seven week scan they found blood in my uterus they couldnt give me a exact reason why but I was like you took a week off sick cried all the time thought everything was over and then when I returned for my scan last week everything was fine the blood was gone and the baby looked great. They said to me that the blood is not common but not uncommon which I didn't know if it helped me or made me worse but try and maybe do something nice today go for lunch with someone or maybe a bit of retail therapy.

Hope everything goes well for you I know what it feel like. blowkiss

Thats not a bad rise for 48 hours. You might just be one of those women who have lower end levels. Anything could happen of course, but stay positive hun, cos you are still in the fight. Try and stay relaxed if you can and take care of yourself. Hope that scan comes around soon for you and it brings wonderful news.
