I am petrified of losing my little man. I have sat here in tears tonight and feel so silly but can't shake the thoughts and feelings.

I just can't wait to have him safely in my arms.

oh, gemma, I think its fine to feel that way, not freaky at all. After going through heartache to get to this stage your bound to have wobbles, however pregnant you are. Not long to go now though and your little boy will be with you xxx

HI everyone...

I know that I only come here to complain but I don't have anyone else to talk to as I still haven't anounced my pregnancy...
Today I'm having some brown discharge which is scaring me alot!!!!
I called the clinic, they were so cold I didn't even have a chance to talk to the DR. The reception told me to take duphoston 2 times a day and wait until my scan on wednesday!!!

I'm losing my mind here trying my best to calm down...
Shouldn't I be scanned and have some blood tests done to make sure everything is ok...
Should I wait until Wednesday or should I call them on Sat to get an earlier appointment (They don't open on Fridays neither today afternoon)

its okay to only come on here with worries - that's exactly what this thread is here for.

first of all, please don't panic. I know how worrying it is when you see the brown, but it could be down to many things. Have a read of this thread:

BLEEDING IN PREGNANCY

Secondly, whilst it can feel like your clinic are being cold-hearted, I guess we have to remember that they deal with these queries every single day. One blood test probably won't tell you very much - you would need repeated ones. How many weeks are you (sorry I can;t remember)? after about 5 or 6 weeks scnas are a much better predictor than blood tests. It is pretty normal in these situations for you not to be rushed in for a scan but to be asked to monitor what is happening for 24 hours. If you start to experience serious pain or begin to bleed rather than just brown spotting, then do call them back or call your local EPU for advice.

Hi Amoon

I just wanted to say that they are probably telling you to wait as they won't see much at 5 weeks. At 6 weeks they will be able to hopefully see a heartbeat and be able to see if the pregnancy is viable.

It's tough but hang in there.

Sorry you are having this worry AmoonA - I would say wait til at least 6 weeks if you can for a scan as you can't see much and only have to go back and have another one anyway. Really hope all is OK.
Gemma - I can totally understand how you feel - its not going to stop til you have him there with you. Not long to go now, hang in there.
My scan today was external for a change and all is OK. She said it looks about 7 or 8 weeks which should be about right by my dates, it has a heartbeat - seemed v fast but she said that was normal. She also said the sac was a good size.
She said I can go back and see her every week for a scan until I stop worrying if I want to - which is great. Last time I lost it just after I saw the heartbeat at 8 wks so am def going to go next week and see what has happened. I'm not bothering to go to my gp until after that. Feel a bit relieved but as you all know, the worry never stops!
Thanks to all for your support and hope everyone is OK.

Oh Dizzy I am so pleased your scan went well! :D I'm glad they are going to scan you until you stop worrying. It is true the worrying never stops, I still have my moments but I'm far better than I was in the early days.

Jen, great news about your scan and well done on getting some maternity jeans! :D I felt really nervous when I got my first pair but as soon as I put them on I wished I'd got them a few weeks earlier rather than wandering around with my jeans undone a lot! :snigger:

Great news about scan Dizzy :D

I have lost babies after seeing heartbeats too  my have nearly always been between 8-9 weeks so this week I am very anxious...I had a scan last Friday just before 8 weeks and all was good, I have one booked for next Friday when I will be 10 wks and another at 12 wks. I think it's natural for us to worry, just got to try and remain calm. I was worrying yesterday as didn't have nausea but am finding this week I am having one day of nausea and another day of extreme tiredness. I think having symptoms helps with the reassurance.

Hi to everyone else.

Blondie - everything crossed we get good scans next week, its such a scary time. I wonder why it is that 8-9 weeks seems to be such a common time to m/c? I'm so with you on the coming and going symptoms - I worry when I have them and then worry when I don't.
Congrats Jen on your gorgeous scan - saw the pics on your diary! Fantastic news!

I have trouble believing it too!! It has gone quick for me since I started to relax about it. I think my DH will get a shock when he comes home, he hasn't seen me since I was 17 weeks!

Children: twin girls thanks to PGD!

Ladies, I'm terrified I have m/c again. I have lost two babies in missed m/c at approx 7 weeks before but they weren't picked up until scan at 8/9 weeks as I don't bleed. I have had the normal cramps which are usual in early m/c and these don't bother me, but last night at 1am I was doubled up on the kitchen floor in agony with pain and cramping (nothing to do with gastro stuff before you ask). I was expecting to start bleeding there and then but nothing has come at all. Like I say, I don't bleed so I don't feel any comfort from this, and also the cyclogest can hold it off. I know no one can tell me what is happening in there and I couldn't have a scan until 6-7 weeks anyway (I am 5 weeks tomorrow) but DH and I are so frightened. We are sick of seeing scans with sacs with a fuzzy white blob with no heartbeat. If we can't get it to work this time even after PGD I don't know if we will ever get it to work. Thanks for listening I just wanted to hear what you thought as this was no ordinary cramp.

After 5 years of endo surgery, clomid, 2 x MM/C, 2 x ICSI cycles and 1 PGD cycle,
beautiful twin girls born 8th Feb 2010, we are so grateful

I've replied to you on your diray Ros, but re the cramp.
As you might remember, I had some really bad pain just before my 10 weeks with this pregnancy. It felt like just like m/c pain I've had before but a scan the next day showed all was still fine. You just can't tell what causes the pain I'm afraid.....however severe it might seem.

don't start letting thoughts of it not working creep in - please, please, please. you really don't know what is going on in there and worrying about what you don't know won't do you any good. Try to focus on the steps you can take to get reassurance that all is okay. I know it is realistically a week away before a scan will show you the HB (an even then it might be a few days too early). However, why not call your clinic tomorrow, describe the pain you had and ask them what the best thing to do to give you some reassurance that all is okay would be. Whilst beta tests aren't the best measure at this stage, your levels should still be rising and seeing those figures might give you some confidence.

Hi Ros
As we know only too well, you just can't second guess these things - could be something and could be (hopefully) nothing. I'd definitely contact your consultant for some reassurance and see if you can bring the scan forward a bit.
Are you still in pain or has it all gone now? Really hoping all is well - try not to think the worst.

Hi Ros

I am so sorry you've had such a worrying time.

I had a lot of cramps and pains in the first tri and ended up getting an early scan because I was convinced I had lost our LO. They varied in strength but there were a few nights when I was woken up by the pain, it felt like endo and af pains when af has just made an appearance so that really painful bearing down kind of pain with stabbing pains. I still find it hard to believe nothing was wrong, even with my other pg's when I m'cd I didn't have pains that strong.

I really hope with all my heart that everything is well with your LO.

Thinking of you hun.

Thank you ladies, I feel normal today, just have the few odd twinges as usual but that doesn't bother me. Keep checking my knickers for anything scary but so far so good, but that doesn't put my mind at ease. Hopefully I will feel better after speaking to the cons tomorrow, thank you for letting me know about your pains Polly x

Ah Ros, try not to worry. Completely get where you are coming from but don't think about the scan until the day..the cramping has stopped so it could be things just happening.

Take it easy

Hi Ros
Great news the cramping has stopped and you have a scan date - hopefully you should see a heartbeat at 6 wks +2.
I don't know if you get constipated at all, but I have had some awful pains last week that felt just like a bad AF but when I had my scan the woman said I had a very lively bowel!! The pains feel very similar and especially if you have wind too can be v severe.

Hi all

Hope you are all well? Ros I have everything crossed for you for next week hon.

I had my 8 week scan yesterday and was terrified as this was when i got my awful news last time. Thank god all looks ok this time, but it is still ealry days.

I have seen my midwife today and have to wait now for my 12 week scan. Know I am being inpatient but think I might try and go for a private scan at 10 weeks?

Overall I am still feeling really sick (was actually sick at work today nice!) and very tired but i dont care as long as the little one is ok.

DD the lady who scanned me also mentioned I had a lively bowl???

We have still not told people which is hard but I am scared to get excited.

Take care all and thank youf or listening. xx

wonderful wonderful that everything was okay yesterday Rosebud.
Numbers wise you have a great chance of everything being okay now :D

if you feel like a scan at 10 weeks, then it is your money and your body so go for a private one.
The first trimester is a difficult time but I promise that once you get past 12 weeks you will start to feel more confident. And, hey, once you get past that point you'll have loads and loads of time to be excited xxx

Lovely news Rosebud, it's such a relief to have a good scan and know that everything is ok. I am having a 10 wk scan this Friday and going to be terrified on the day, not stressing at the moment. I didn't want to wait until 12 wks to know that everything was ok so totally understand you wanting one at 10wks. Luckily I get mine free.

Fingers crossed for all of us :D

lovely news Rosebud, so glad you got your 8wk heartbeat and are feeling sick (you know what I mean :D)
Blondie, I am trying your technique and pretending life is normal and not thinking about the scan date, it's very hard though. I do hope friday is a fantastic day for you.
Dizzyduck, not sure about the bowel, my cramps have definitely felt like they are from my womb area.

HI everyone..

Today I had my first scan.. It was amazing!!! I saw my little one's heart beat I'm starting to fall in love with him/her.. The Dr. said it's early to hear a heart beat so I have to wait for 10 days where I will be about 8 weeks... trying my best to think positive as this is when I knew I lost my baby last time...

Hope everyone else is doing well :)

Great news AmoonA!!!

Well I now am worried as I dont feel quite a sick as I did! Should not start reducing yet? Cant win!

I have however stopped taking my pregnacare in the morning on an empty tum as I was not aware I should take them on a full tum, so for the last 2 days I have taken them at tea time. So... that maybe why I am not feeling quite as sick? it does seem to get worse as the day goes on.

I cant help but worry I SHOULD still feel mega sick? help, anyone any advice / experience to share before I drive myself crazy! xx

Every pregnancy is different and there are no set rules for sickness. It can change on a daily basis so noone can say that you 'SHOULD' feel megasick. My sickness has always been worse later in the day than in the morning, but some people have the reverse! Some people can sail through with no sickness, some people maybe only get it for one or two days.
With a lot of people it is a trigger that makes them feel sick and I definitely think that you changing the time you take pregnacare could be contributing in your case. Especially as you were taking it on an empty tum before - more likely to make you feel ill.

Your scan was good and that is a much more reliable measure than sickness.
