Hey Elvis, I wondered where you'd been hiding! All the best for your scan next week - am sure it's absolutely normal to feel apprehensive...I know I will be until the moment my wee bambino appears in the world (and then for the next 30 odd years...) Lovely that you're feeling movements now too! Everything will be just fine hun :D

I haven't been in here much lately either, but have been lurking ;) and it's great to see so many of you ladies with BFPs and nice healthy scans. Good luck tomorrow Ros and to all of you with scans coming up soon.

Lots of luck and love for today Ros xx

dream2bmom - I didn't have a scan at 16 weeks, just a midwife appt where she listened to the HB. Our next scan is the anomaly one at 20 weeks where they may be able to tell the gender if the baby is in a good position. But we don't want to know what it is so not going to ask!

Glad you had a nice break and good luck for tomorrow Suzy!
Hope you are well too Gemma.
I'm going away for a few days tomorrow and feeling a bit panicy - have booking appt next Tuesday and then back to miscarriage woman for another scan next Friday. By then I would be just over 12 weeks. Praying it will be OK, still can't quite believe it. My symptoms are still coming and going - on the plus side i haven't had the cramps I have had on previous occasions and no bleeding, also feeling much sicker this time although still not actually throwing up. I'm telling myself that if I get past 12 weeks I can relax a bit - jensqui, does that actually happen or is it still just as bad?

yes, you do relax dizzy. definitely. Whilst, of course, there are still days when you worry, getting past the 12 weeks does feel like passing a milestone.

You will still need to employ some coping techniques - one day at a time, etc, - but it is much easier to remind yourself that there must be something different about this pregnancy than the others else it wouldn't still be there.

good luck tomorrow smd, I do agree that dogs keep your mind off things. I know our new puppy has really helped me through these last 3 weeks since we've had her.

Dizzy, hope you have a godo few days away and can start to relax more soon.

My scan went well today - two heartbeats and perfect size babies for the dates - 7w2d and 7w1d. We were so amazed and relieved everything is ok today so am allowing myself one day off from worrying :) Next scan in two weeks at 9w2d.

Morning well I had my scan this morning and to my great relief there is a baby in there!!!! One healthy heartbeat and a wee blob!! It is measuring 8.3mm and 6weeks 4 days so 3 days behind my dates but she said not to worry. I also have a 6cm cyst on my ovary which again she did not seem too worried about!!!! I wish she had not told me about the cyst.

oooh , good news Suzy!!

don't worry about the size - they often 'measure' small before 8 weeks as, to be honest, it isn't a true CRL measurement at this stage. Mine was the same.
Also, don;t worry about the cyst. Did she mention it might be a corpus luteum cyst? These are pretty common.

relax and enjoy that heartbeat!!

Yes it could, but I really wouldn't worry about ti if they aren't worried - you'd be surprised how much room there is inside you!
My baby must be nearly 6 inches now and I really have no idea how it's managing to fit in there without me noticing :8o:

Great news about your scan Ros and Suzy!! :D

Rosebud I'm glad you haven't got an UTI. I'm not sure if your MW will try to listen to the HB, how far gone are you? Around here they don't even attempt it until you're about 16 weeks.

Hey everyone how we all doing? I am doing ok except I have pulled a muscle in my back most likely did it when I was being sick the other day!!! I have not been sick since it seems that the only real time i want to be sick is when i clean my teeth!!!

i still have these scared feeling in the back of my mind like what if I go for my 12 weeks scan and there is no heartbeat!!! And all sorts of things like that! But then I give myself a talking to and say its all going to be ok!!!! There is nothing i can do only stop worrying I guess. I wish you got a scan every week!!!!

Boobs are only sore when i poke them (which is often!)

Anyway enough of my rambling off back to bed with a good book!

Suzy, I know how you feel hun, I have now worked myself into a panic about my next scan in 10 days at 9w2d. That will be the furthest I have ever been and some brown stuff on Friday morning terrified me out of my mind.
I wish someone could put me to sleep until 12 weeks. Hope your back is better soon x
p.s. I have not been sick at all. Sometimes a little nauseous before breakfast.

After 5 years of endo surgery, clomid, 2 x MM/C, 2 x ICSI cycles and 1 PGD cycle,
beautiful twin girls born 8th Feb 2010, we are so grateful

Thanks Ros, I could do with sleeping until 12 weeks too!!! I hope you don't mind me asking but are you having your scans through the nhs or paying for them private? My clinic gave me a 7 weeks scan but have now discharged me over to my GP. I think I will get a 12 week scan on the nhs but honestly don't think I can wait until then!!!

Suzy, I get my scans from my IVF clinic but we paid for the whole treatment up front so I guess the scans are included in that. I'm worried my diarrhorea over the last few days will have affected the babies now. Typically it's been over a weekend when everything is shut x

Hi ladies and nice to see you are all well :D

don;t know about going to sleep until 12 weeks - I;d be happy to go to sleep until 40 weeks!!

Rosebud - I see the midwife at GP's practice but even then she didn't listen to the HB at my 13 week appt but waited until the 16 week one, so I think that is fairly common.

Hi there
Back from a few days away and feeling refreshed. Glad to see everyone is OK and there have been some good scans!
I'm off to midwife for booking appt now - feeling a bit apprehensive as my symptoms seem to have almost gone. Still a bit constipated but boobs not so sore and not felt sick for a few days now. I know I wouldn't have a bump at this stage but just feel really normal and not pregnant! Wonder if midwife would scan or if I'll have to wait until Friday when i see the miscarriage woman. One minute I think everything is fine, the next I'm panicing and thinking it's all gone wrong!

Good luck with appointment dizzy. I totally know how you feel.

I rang my midwife this morning to talk to her as I am having a dull aching pain in my right side and am worried so told me to ring EPAS (Early Pregnancy Assessment Service) which said that it sounds as if my cyst has maybe ruptured or it could just be normal aches and pains. Anyway they are going to see me tomorrow at 8.30 just to put my mind at ease!!! God this isn't easy is it!!!!

My dh thinks I am mental!!! I wish I could stop worrying so much!!!!

Hey girls
hope you are all good...lots of appointments happening on here eh!!
Suzy its great to see you on here!! Good luck with your scan this week..and good luck Dizzy!!

I have my 'big' scan today...the anomaly scan..and I have been driving myself mad this past week!! I woke up crying from my sleep last week after having a dream that I went for the scan and the doc told me that the baby had 3 extra toes on each foot!!! It sounded so crazy when I said it out loud to DH (and to be honest if thats the worst news I hear its not that bad lol), but I really think so many people dont understand, people just take having a baby for granted never mind a healthy baby!!

Also I saw my GP last week and he told me not to go to the loo before my scan, I did this the last scan and he said this is maybe why the scan wasnt so clear!!

Anyway, will let you all know how I get on...best of luck to everyone with all your different appts.
Take care

Hope it all goes well elvis! Will check in on you later on.
Suzy, hope all goes well tomorrow - its good they are keeping an eye on you and trying to ease your worries.
Gemma - how are you feeling? Hope all is good with you.
I've just had booking appt and they did bloods etc - I have to go back on Monday for a dating scan - apparently the ones the miscarriage consultant has been doing for me aren't 'official' so I have to have an official one now and that will be the nuchal test one too.
I am seeing the miscarriage woman again this Friday - hopefully another scan. I think that if the one on Friday is OK I might start to relax a bit - but am feeling really up and down at the moment and won't even look at the pregnancy stuff they gave me at the hospital in case it jinxes everything. How mental is that???!
Please please please let everything be ok on friday........
Love to everyone and good luck to all with scans and appointments this week.

Morning all! Good luck Suzy for this morning and hope the new haircut managed to distract you!
Elvis - hope everything went OK with your big scan yesterday? Did you see it all more clearly this time? Would love to see pics!
Hospital have called me and brought my dating/nuchal scan forward to tomorrow morning and then a talk with the fetal med unit afterwards re CVS/amnio etc. At least I don't have so long to panic about it (although I'll probably cram a week's worth of panicing into one day!). I know that if heartbeat is still there (please let it be!), the downs risk will come out as high anyway purely because of my age let alone any other factors, so thats why we have the talk afterwards. I can't wait for this week to be over -I almost wish I was at work to take my mind off it! Am taking a leaf out of Suzy's book and getting my hair dyed this morning and then might indulge in a bit of retail therapy....
Have a good day ladies

morning all!

elvis - how did the scan go??
Suzy - good luck for today
dizzyd - also good luck for today. Do they do the accompanying blood test with your nuchal scan (not the triple test)? Just that the risk factors are much more accurate with it than the nuchal measurement alone.
I hope the measurement is nice and low for you so that the chat afterwards is merely protocol.

having a few wobbles this week.....and I think I've got carpal tunnel syndrome already  Keep getting numbness and tingling in my right arm, especially in the morning. I spend all day at work on the computer so I'm probably more prone to it anyway!

Suzy - that's fantastic news! So pleased it was all OK. Enjoy your holiday and try to relax.
Elvis - hope you are OK.
I've just got back from hospital and had 12 week and nuchal scan and all is fine. As soon as I got in there I just burst into tears as the prerssure of it all just got on top of me. He found heartbeat immediately and showed it and we listened to it. Then I calmed down a bit. It actually looks like a baby - I couldn't believe it, it was moving and you could see the arms and legs waving about. Pics not as clear as they could be because I am still constipated and there was a lot of 'bowel gas' - yuk! From measurements I am 12 weeks and 3 days which is spot on and it is about 6 1/2 cm long. Nuchal measurements were good 1.2mm, I had bloods taken and should get overall risk factor next week. The nasal bone was visible too which should be another good sign I think.
I am so relieveed and feel so emotional - I cannot believe we have got this far. I know the worry won't stop here but for today I feel good (although slghtly hysterical!). In the rush of it all I forgot to ask when I have to see midwife again. Is the 20 week scan the next visit or do I need to see the midwife again before that? Seems like a long time to wait.
Thank you everyone for all your support, it makes it all better just knowing you are there and you understand.

lovely news Suzy and dizzyd!!

Dizzyd - sorry, hun, can't remember...when did you see your midwife? did she take blood to check for rubella immunity, etc?
I saw mine at around 12 weeks for that stuff (and got the baby folder with vouchers etc in it) and then at 16 weeks. At latter one they ask if you want the blood test for Down's & spina bifida (I declined as nuchal more accurate and 20 week scan can detect spina bifida)...and they listen to the baby's HB :D

Oh Dizzy that's brilliant news!! :D

I'm not sure about the MW appointments, they seem to vary slightly depending on where you live. My next MW appointment after my nuchal scan was 16 weeks.

Kel, good luck with your 12 week scan.

Suzy, I'm glad your scan went well.

Elvis, I hope your scan went well.

Jen, I hope your wobbles have eased off a bit.

Ros, I hope you're well and had no more scares.

Thanks!
Unbelievably the hospital have come back to me already with blood results - they only took it yesterday! One was fine, the other was slightly high so quite a good result. My overall risk is 1 in 250, which is far better than i expected for my age - I was expecting less than 1 in 100 to be honest. Its right on the cusp of low/high risk but I am going to see the consultant again at 16 weeks for another scan and a talk before I decide whether or not to have an amnio. I know its such a personal thing but nevertheless a very hard decision. At the moment I'm still fazed and relieved that I am still pregnant so am going to focus on that for now and see what happens at 16 weeks.
Hope everyone is well - enjoy the weekend!
