Baby Shower

Hi Girls

After some advice please. One of my best friends wants to host a baby shower for me next month, it sounds a wonderful idea and i would really like to do it, but have this niggling doubt in my head saying dont do it in case its bad luck, which i know is stupid as i have a house full of prams, cots, drawers, baby clothes etc etc. Its almost as if i dont like to brag i am pregnant, like i am scared that something will happen.
What would you do?
thanks xxxx

Do as you feel comfortable, do it just don't call it a baby shower, stick with close friends and keep your numbers small and then its more of a gathering with tea and cake that you get to recieve lots of lovely presents

I never had one with Lauren for the same reasons, and now my friends haven't thought to throw me one because they think I don't want one or because its my second baby

Enjoy every moment of this pregnancy hun blowkiss

My gang at work wanted to throw me one and even though I said 'dont worry about the fuss' secretly I was thrilled!!! Since I had to leave in a rush thats not gonna happen now so I say go for it and enjoy being centre of attention, eat cake, have a blub and get lots of cutey stuff for baby - wicked!!!

I'm having one and can't wait....!!!! We deserve it more than most the length of time it takes most of us on here to get pregnant.

Like Missy says keep it small and low key if it makes you feel comfortable. I couldn't keep mine low key now as most of my friends know how long we have been trying so want to celebrate and spoil us.

I just keep thinking that my baby could survive if born now so am trying to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy and have some sort of normality as have just stressed and worried at the slightest thing in the early days.

You do what you feel comfortable with though xxx

I missed mine last time! I was in hospital having E but my friends decided to go ahead and had a lovely meal at the restaurant they'd booked! I did come out to a big pile of pressies from them all though!

This time I'm not really up for it - sounds ridiculous but we've agreed that we'll do it after she arrives safely - seemed a good compromise!

I was going to have one to get the lovely pressies but my friend wanted me to have one at my house and I just can't be bothered with having to do food and drink so I think I am not going to have one, but the day I leave work, I know I am having a presentation as they are doing a collection for me, so lots of money to spend on the babies hopefully lol.

I have decide to have it after the baby i born, i just think i will enjoy it so much more, plus everyone will then get to meet him. its quite hard getting all my friends under the same roof so i think it will be a good opportunity, plus my friend was more then happy to change the date which helped.

thanks girls. xx

That sounds a lovely idea Paris. And after the birth you have a ready-made excuse for them to sort out food and drink etc because you'll have your new baby occupying all your time.

I personally don't like the idea of baby showers - mainly because I'm not the kind of person to expect presents from people - but a meet and greet after the event (with tea, champagne and cakes) would be perfect!
