To tell, or not.

Hi Girls,

I am out Saturday night with 4 of my girlfriends, they dont know i am PG, they know i have been trying for a long time and know about my first pregnancy that ended at 5 months. My question is should i tell them or not? My 12 week scan is not until next Wednesday....... i will be just over 13 weeks then, what would you do?

Hi Paris,

That's a tough one, not sure exactly what I would do, but have a feeling I wouldn't be able to lie about it if asked the question outright by my friends....which they would indeed ask if I hadn't had so much as a sip of wine! I'm sure they would understand me wanting to keep it to myself but I am rubbish at lying!
Hubbie's sisters keep asking if I've got any news yet and I've just been saying that I don't know yet (and I don't for sure until next week so not a total lie!).
I wasn't planning to tell a sole this time (3 early m/c) but I bumped into another mummy friend whilst handing in a urine sample at GP's so she twigged straight away...if anything goes wrong I would tell my close friends afterwards anyhow, but I just don't want them walking on eggshells while I wait and see. I have a scan next week when I'll only be 8 weeks but if that shows everything is ok, I really don't know how I could contain myself any longer! I have only told my parents and that one friend, apart from hubbie of course!
I have a 'mummy's day off' coming up soon with 2 other mummy's and they will know what's going on the instant I order a sparkling water! I will have had my scan by then though and am praying all is well or it will be a large glass of wine instead!
Congratulations on your pregnancy, and all the best for your scan...not long til you get to see little one! So exciting!

I'm afraid there is no way I would be able to keep my gob shut at all! Totally your call, but I would want the support of my friends if it all went wrong too.

Hi Mayo, thanks for your mail, its hard isnt it? as your so excited you want to tell people but nervous too, Sorry to hear about your M/C's. i think my main reason is because i have had two M/C i doubt it will ever work out for me, and i know thats daft. My hubby keeps telling me we have had our bad luck and that this is the one, i want to believe him but so scared too. guess its self preservation isnt it?
Good luck for your scan too, make sure you post a picture. If you look on the board you will see my 10 week scan, its pretty clear. xx

Hi again,

Wow! Just had a look at your 10 wk scan pic and it is fantasticly clear! That's great!
I reckon, if I'd had scan at 10wk then I might just be tempted to tell my friends ... enjoy your night out either way!

I would and have been telling the people who know about the IVF. They have been supportive and so not tell them the outcome seems mean.

I have not told world in general yet though.

to be honest, telling is not going to make all go bad, nor is not telling going to gurantee all goes well.

if something goes bad, I would want the support of those I have told so telling does no harm.

Plus I am so happy i cant hold it in.

paris, just think how happy your news will actually make them.

I really believe that good news shared makes it twice as good and bad news makes it half as bad!

your mates will just be overwhelmed with love for you I think. I know mine have been xx

Thanks Bravegirl, i think i will tell them. i know they will be happy, there have been lots of evenings out where i couldnt drink because on meds and even had to go to the loo to inject, i did actually tell them all a white lie last week asi was suppose to be going to the spa tomorrow then out for the meal, so i told them was on a treatment and not allowed to go in the heat. i thnk they will be totally shocked. x
