Hi all,

Hope you all had a good weekend

Im confused again ?( Honestly you must think im a total thicko (not honest).

Anyway just been reading the posts on the new 2009 rules thread, anyway, Natalie you said you are getting 3 full cycles and 3 FETs (if any embies to freeze).

Not sure if i read my info pack correctly but sure im entitled to 2 fresh IVF and 1 FET.

Not sure if i read wrong or if im entitled to something different as dont live in Aberdeen (they serve a couple of diff PCTs), so just wondering what everyone is entitled to on NHS?

I hope the travelling wont be too bad for you.

i think we will be between 3 - 4 hrs drive to the clinic (havent tried it yet), all this driving wont be very good for the Environment, must try and recycle more :snigger:

Hi Jane

Yeah I have been to Aberdeen this month and we went up and down in the same day what a nightmare 10 hours on the road, next time I am flying! So started my Downtime and I just need to go down for the baseline scan..on 5th Nov

Its not so much the travelling but I am unsure when to take days off work and also for my hubby - might mean me staying down by myself for a few days X( I am finding that part more stressful.

And as I am in a fairly new job I have tried to come up with a story as to why I will be off ... :innocent:

Goodness 5 hours each way - where are you travelling from?

I am also struggling with how to work out getting to clinic (especially as i know now that some trips will be v short notice), dont think DH will be able to come to all apps so that will mean bus for me :cross: as actually quicker than train.

Im lucky with my job, been here for 2.5 yrs and been allowed to carry 10 days hols to next year to use for tx (company policy is that 'elective' tx is unpaid so need to use hols), was funny telling my batchelor boy of a boss what i was upto, his face went so red.

Hope you come up with a story for your work - could always go with the general, lots of apps due to 'womens' problems.

Good luck with the DR and scan next week.

HIyaaaaa

Its about 4.5 hours each way dependant on traffic.! Right on the north coast am I!..

Hard isnt it being unsure if you are going to stay down that night, its a bit of a nightmare in Aberdeen at the best of times, whats your plans for that, or are you just going to bus it down the next day again?

Yeah I have womens probs thing going on at work.. I would like to say but its such early days and dont want to put my job in jepordy seeing as thats all i will have if it doesnt work eh!

There are some folk from the islands tho I am not sure what they do - probably stay down the whole two weeks.?

Thats pretty rubbish about having to use holidays eh as its a medical condition.!

Yes that is excellent news, so glad it's all kicking off for you now!

Hiya Dooey, nice to meet you. So sorry to hear about your m/cs, sounds like you've had a rough time. But good luck and xfingers for your Tx now.

Jeez, all you folks with long journeys! I'm so lucky I work near the clinic so appointments are not too hard to work round. Women's probs is such a great excuse though - love seeing Mr Bossman cringe!

Good luck to everyone

Hi everyone... Just been away with work for a couple of days back now!.

Now I have a question...

I got my schedule through today - once I have started the FSH Injections have day 8 blood to give which I can do in Inverness and then day 10 blood and scan back in Aberdeen. How flexible is the 10 day blood and scan, It would REALLY REALLY help me if I could come in on the day 11 instead.. even first appt.? due to work and travel etc..! ?? Although it is a saturday..

Anyone any ideas?

I am down in Aberdeen on Wednesday for my Baseline Scan and will ask then but just wondered if you guys knew.

Ta :bye:

Hey guys, how is everyone doing?

Dooey - good luck with your scan on Wed.

Andrea - hope the freezing went well

Foxy, Natalie, Moogle - how are you guys getting on?

I hope everyone had a good halloween, we went to a neighbours party and were actually very impressed when a bunch of 8 yr olds (well i think) said they couldnt do their turn due to the wee munchkins in the house, so we closed the door and got some v dirty jokes told to us - shocking for kids that age but impressed they thought about the younger kids ears.

take care allxxx

Hi Dooey
Regarding your question about day 10 scan and blood test. I don't want to be a party pooper but I have just experienced that the day 8 and 10 tests are vital. My day 8 blood said that my estrogen level was higher than expected. My day 10 scan showed that my ovaries were doing wild things - 20 follies in right and only 8 in left. My blood was also of a very high level again - so high in fact that they had to prepare us that we may have our treatment cancelled if it kept continuing to rise at a fast race - risk of OHSS.. I have had to go to clinic everyday since then for scans and bloods in order to keep a very close eye on me.

Everything seems to be getting sorted out now - after altering levels of Gonal F. I don't want to sound negative but in my case if I hadn't been seen on day 10 things could have gone horribly wrong. ALOT can happen between day 8 and 11 - personally I think you are best to see them on day 10, if you can!!

Hi Foxy,

My goodness i didnt realise you had to attend the clinic on a daily basis - im glad everything seems sorted now for you, how long were you attending daily for?

Im a bit worried about needing to attend so often if any problems occur - just from a transport (DH needs car for work and buses take 4.5 hrs each way) and time off work etc (have planned for key apps plus a couple etra with them).

Just read this back and have decided that waiting lists are mean as i all do is worry about 'What if's', must stop doing this and take each day as it comes during tx.

Good luck with the rest of your tx

Hows everyone else doing?

Im finally full of new PMA, been to gym last 2 nights and back on diet - i know im not overweight for IVF but the doc at Raigmore said that when my BMI was 28 that it could be impacting the clomid working so want to try and get it down so doesnt impact IVF drugs, so tough with all the emotional ups and downs.

Take care all and good luck with the ongoing tx's

Hang on just got my protocol it says to start my FSH injections on 5th Nov and my day 8 is a week today so I start on Wed eve and I have my next blood on Wed next week?

I was in and out quickly today so that was fine...

Hey dooey, that's great news that you've got started. I take it you found your way from the airport ok? I'm afraid after 5 years in this neck of the woods I've still got no idea about buses in Aberdeen. But then I don't think the drivers do either :snigger:

Nothing much happening in Mooglesville, just counting the days till our December appointment. How's everyone's tx going?

Jane, I just replied to your other thread. Glad you're feeling better now - bring on that PMA!

hello girly's
I just got my pack in today and am so confused with all the mass of forms.
firsty my open night meeting is on 1st dec, anyone else's same?
I have a form that has been sent to my doctor asking for a blood sample, does anyone know if this has to be done before my first apt?
then there is also forms for freezin samples and hep tests which we have already done, do they want more?
sorry for all the questions but im so confused and excited.
also how long after 1st apt does treatment actually start?
glad everythin went well for you dooey bet you so excited, I also have hd to lose weight burnzyuk, Iv lost 2 1/2 st so far and still another 1 1/2 to get my bmi to 25 but iv lost what doctor initially wanted me to.
gl with yours its not easy esp with all the other stresses going on too

hi pamela.

the pack is overwhelming. theres so much involved.

in my pack, i also got our 1st appt date too.

the blood test needs to be done before your appt. they like to have all those results in advance of Tx.

there would be no harm them checking the bloods again for Hep b etc, but maybe just check with them at your appt. it could be just a standard pack they send out. so try not to worry.

i was allowed to start the week after my appt, as was on day 13 of my cycle, and my bloods were back on day 20. started on day 21. however it also depends on xmas/new year as aberdeen close down over that period. if i hadnt been allowed to start this cycle, i wouldve have to wait to my december one, as november wouldve clashed with when they close. they dont do EC's over that time

hope that helps

lol thanks andrea,
yes it is very overwhelming and so exciting, my first apt on jan 5th, so I have to go and get that bloods done before then?
I was just confused with the hep thing because we have already had a sample in storage and got all that done prior to that.
So it just depends on your cycle how long before you start injections?

yeah i just got the bloods done ASAP.

it does seem weird if you have a sample in storage. i guess you mean semen sample?

when i went to appt, the Dr asked when i wanted to start so i said as soon as i could. i had to wait for Hep b/c and HIV bloods to come back negative and then got the go-ahead. it was tight but was delighted i could start then.

so work out roughly where you will be on your cycle then and you might be soon after your appt

good luck

How is everyone doing?

Hey Pamela, Thats fab you got your pack through - confusing and exciting by the sounds of it.

Well done on your weight loss thats fab.

Thats not too bad timings until your first app (considering they shut for xmas).
I dont expect to receive my pack until Jan, so prob first app in Mar, i phoned up to find out when they would be contacting me as the wait is killing me, need a rough time to focus on.

Andrea you are a fountain of IVF knowledge already - fab to know

Moggle - thanks for your reply on my other thread, i am feeling better now, just focusing on next year and IVF.

Dooey - how are you getting on?

I hope everyone is having a good weekend, i have had a lazy day but at least its been dry and sunny (just cold), hoping its nice tomorrow as want to get out somewhere.

Take care all

hi Jane yes I know the wait is agonising, i never expected my pack so quickly so im really excited now.
yes pack is just full of forms and info on stuff you need to take with you,
im getting kinda scared at thought of injecting myself though, im sure they show you how etc but still thought of it freaks me out lol but its a small price to pay i guess.
hope you dont have to wait too muc longer

Hopefully the injections wont be too bad.
Im actually trying to get involved with something at work which will involve me 'play injecting' so stick needle in but dont actually inject anything, putting it forward as for work purposes but really trying to prep myself for next year :snigger:

im sure it wont be too bad

Hiya Ladies

Hope you are all weel just watching x factor ;-)

Thanks for asking I am fine, felt fine today no side effects at all - I think when i feel odd i immediately think its the IVF but to be honest apart from headaches I have got off very lightly!.. and of course tired.. but maybe now I just have an excuse haha

On day 4 of Stimms.. Heading for first check on Wednesday.. 2 hr drive for a blood test.. you think my local hosp could do that..

complaining me ...nah :winking:

Aberdeen were great with me and the first proper appt they asked when I wanted to start and as I started on day 2 of my cycle i started taking the drugs 5 days later, but i was keen to do this before Christmas, as it woul giveme somet to focus on if it didnt work..

Pamela - I was just the same when all the paperwork came and actually forgot to take my passports down the road with me when i went for my first appt!

2.5 stone is amazing. well done you..!
