Shropshire and Mid-Wales Fertility Centre, Shrewsbury

Shropshire and Mid-Wales Fertility Centre

Welcome Every one ha ha im the first one in.
I'm 1 x baby and I am not having Tx but I have had - see left.

I had Tx at Shewsbury and found them all to be Lovely.
It is a small dept in big Hospital.
A millon star rating from me.

:D :D So excited i was 1st x x x x

Nhs Funding choice of 3 -we chose Here rather then Liverpool womens and Cardiff.
No particular reason for choice, TBH - I thought the drive would be nicer, more relaxing. (like i said no reason for choice :snigger:)

IMO the clinic is.....
Small & friendly
Great Staff
Personl service - 1st name terms, remembing your name and your story
Easy to talk to.
Fast for Bloods - 6 nurses all in rooms conveyer belting you in and out.
Scans - carried out with care and dignerty - good explanations of whats what.

I will look foward to meeting and chatting with any Fz'ers attending this clinic.

Good luck blowkiss

RE: Shrewsbury Clinic Chat

Hi Lovlies

Yes I too had tx at Shrewsbury. We had our first two Private TX at Liverpool Womens, and we not very impressed with our care. When we were finally granted one go on the NHS we opted for a "change" and Shrewsbury was one of the choices"

They were absolutly FANTASTIC!!!!!! the nursing staff were brilliant very caring, down to every last detail of just even knowing your name when you walked in!. Its a very small clilnic but compared to a large one I felt this was nicer! your care was more one to one and you were not just treated like " a numbe" Our care was second to non. I was admitted to Shrewsbury hospital through A&E with OHSS and the following morniong I had a visit from a nurse from the unit and the Embryologist!.

Although our Pregnancy sadly ended early, the nursing staff continued to call me up to 4 weeks after the MC to see how I was!

I have waffled on a bit here but just wanted to give a :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2:

to Shrewsbury starsmile

Gayle

Hi

I also had treatment at Shrewsbury, and i totally agree they were really fantastic...
We went private with Mr B and he is lovely... Like Gayle i was admitted with OHSS and at least one member of the fertility nursing staff came to see me.
As you can see we were successful first time

Hi All

I also go to the Shrewsbury fertility clinic and as siad before everybody is so friendly and help full and always take the time to explain everything and all question you may have and if they cant help you tehy will speak to the DR B and give you a call as to what he says.

Also i have read that some woman here on this site dont have regular follicle scans being on clomid nore blood testing to see if ovulation has happened. Here they cant test you enough which is great gives you the peace of mind too.

Good luck with your tx, you will be fine at shrewsbury they are all so lovely xxx

HI G Course they will see you chick, Everything will be discussed in your appoint your past medical history any test you have had, they may take blood and ask you to sign certain forms they will take your hieght and ask you to pop on the scales if your BMI needs attention they will discuss it with you, You will be free to ask questions aswell so you may want to start a list to take with you. Try not to fret they are very nice. x x x
Well done on ditching the Junk it can only help, have you though about taking up/increasing any exersice even a walk in the evening or going to the furthest butty shop for lunch, get off the bus a stop earlier, park a bit futher from work and walk in that way you wont notice it as much.
Heres to a speedy 4 weeks. :D

They are soooo lovely there. We had our forst two ICSI's at Liverpool womens, and we felt like we were just a numbr to them,! They are so busy there, Shrewsbury is so much more personal and caring, I was admitted from A&E with OHSS, and the Dr's from the clinic came up tp see me and reassure me all was well. Even after our Miscarraige which we found out at 12 weeks at our local hospital, when I wrote to Shrewsbury informing them of this, two of the nurses phoned me, they even called me back 4 weeks laetrto see how I was!!!

I wish you all the very best of luck

Hi Ladies

Has anyone been referred to the Fertility unit at Shrewsbury after recurrent m/c's?

We've had our recurrent m/c bloods and have an appointment on 27th March with Dr Sizer in the Fertility Clinic to get results and go from there.

Have been to the EPU at Shrewsbury with 3 m/c's and they were absolutely fantastic and so lovely - hoping the fertility clinic is too (by the sounds of it it is!)

Hi gnioto55

Thanks for your reply! I've heard lots of good things about the clinic and my mum's neighbour works there colleting bloods and has also said what a wonderful team they have there - at least that's one less thing to worry about!!

Good luck with your treatment - I really hope you get your BFP very soon. Is your ET tomorrow? I will be thinking of you.

We live not too far from Newtown - so not all that far from you really!

Take care, NN x

Hi Kerry
Couldnt agree more with you, we had our first two TX at Liverpool Womens, can honestly say Shrewsbury were 1000 times better, what a lovely bunch of staff, although I live in Wrexham I was taken to A&E there with OHSS and within a few hours of being admitted someone from the clinic was on the ward to see me!. They were absolutely lovely there, I know they will look after you and I wish you all the best for your TX

Hi - I'm after a bit of advice - I've had 2 private failed icsi cycles with NorthWest Fertility (the ec was done in Chester and the et at LWH) we are now thinking of changing clinics and Shrewsbury is looking favourite at the mo (we're not comfortable with the whole egg collection in Chester then a mad dash to Liverpool with the incubator). Have any of you changed clinics to Shrewsbury and if so do can they get access to notes from the previous clinic (we will be going private). Also are all the scans etc done at Shrewsbury or do they use satellite centres like Liverpool?

Thanks UKPrincess. Yes we have looked at the website TBH we have only just started looking at clinics and Shrewsbury seems to have a lot of positive comments.

We had kind of given up on the idea of doing another cycle but I'm starting to think I'd like to at least arrange to speak to a consultant in another clinic to see if they'd do anything differently if we went for another cycle.

i couldnt recommend the unit enough hun, theyre fab and the waiting lists are very short

if you go on the hfea website the numbers are there and ring the secretaries for advice on what happens if you move there. theyre really helpful. for my referral my doctors just faxed them a letter and i had my appointment 2 weeks later!!

you have to go there for everything though. ive spoken to quite a few ladies there who have had tx in the womans and then moved there. plus theyre success rates are a smidge better :D

Thanks Gnioto I called the nursing staff and they were really helpful - just need to contact my GP to see if Chester wrote to them with all of the test results etc from my last 2 rounds. Apparenty there are 2 consultants that I could book into see either Mr Bentick or Mr Sizer.

RE: Shropshire and Mid-Wales Fertility Centre, Shrewsbury

Has anyone been seeing Mr Sizer or Mr Bentick - I need to decide which one to ask to be referred to for a consultation with and wondered if anyone has had any experience of either (one is more expensive to see than the other)?

Thanks UKPrincess - Mr Bentick is the more expensive so it makes sense that he runs the clinic, sounds like you are in good hands - guess I'll speak to my GP tomorrow
