Oh that's not too bad, I am fine thanks just since doing the splits last night I am really feeling it, she is really far down which is good but OMG can I feel it!

I wasn't sure if it was a week or so after, I suppose it depends on your MW ect mind you I can't an appointment with mine for another 10 days!? but if I go past my due date I will see if I can go to the day care unit for a sweep.

Oh I hope you go soon - sounds like little chilli pie 2 is getting herself ready. If memory serves me right my sweep was booked 6 days after my due date, they refused to do it any earlier but I was not in any pain or anything so no reason for them too. Hope she comes soon - good luck and enjoy every moment xxx

with spud i had my sweep at 39 weeks, it depends on the MW.

it hurts a lil bit but not anywhere near as much as labour, its a bit like af pains and i had some spotting too. it works! ask your mw when she would be prepared to give you one.

hope lil chilli comes of her own accord very soon :hugs:

Chilli hun - I really didn't expect to still be reading your posts in the 3rd tri ---bet that makes you feel like slapping me ... sorry hun .. but I really thought little little chilli pie would come earlier than her big sis did .... although when I think back Callum was born at 38 weeks and I was sure I'd go with Gregor well before that ... was bloody induced at 40+2 .... should have sent the alarms ringing back then :snigger: :snigger: --- really though .... wont be long now newshy ... sorry your looking for serious posts and here I am having a laugh!!!

I had my sweep with Gregor the day before he was due .... didn't do the job for us though.

enjoy that bump while it's still there ... you'll miss it when it's gone (you've been there before so you know it's true).

c'mon little little chilli pie

I just typed out a long post and the deleted it....

I just think that sweeps are sometimes given out willy nilly. At the end of the day it's intervention and if you need a sweep to get things moving then maybe things aren't ready to be moving...... gestation is between 37 and 42 weeks. It ISN'T 40 weeks!!!

Rivka, your cervix is never fully closed after having a first baby so it takes less to set things off..... so it's more likely that you will go a bit earlier the second time around. Again, babies come when they're ready... My first was 41 weeks, my second 40+6 .. so yes, earlier ... but not 'early'. I think we can say that there's a general trend for second babies to come earlier and be born quicker but we just can't say it of everyone.

My MW had a good prod and poke on the Monday to see what my cervix was up to (beware, it bloody hurt!) - she reckoned about 5 days to a week... I was due on the Wednesday ... on the Friday I had bh's all afternoon and then BAM! Midnight it began!

My bits were sore too, so sex was the very last thing on my mind. Give yourself a few more days with your feet up and do as little as possible. You'll need all of your energy for what's to come!

Good luck hun.

Nor me!

DS1 was at 38+5, and DS2 at 40+5, having had a sweep at 40+4. I agree with Bells that a sweep *is* an intervention so to avoid it is good from the purist point of view, but I reckon that a sweep after 40 weeks is less likely to cause further interventions than a sweep several or many days before 40 weeks.

Oops, just read the more recent posts and I seem to be being rather sensible as you lot have all got off the subject!
