Have you thought about starting a pregnancy diary? It's lovely to keep all of the updates in one place and be able to look back on it.

Thanks Ladies! I have managed to get out of bed today for the first time since Tuesday (apart from when i had to go for the scan ... nothing was gonna stop me from getting there :snigger: :snigger:!!)

I have managed to keep a banana and slice of bread down today ... i've been really worried that the baby is gonna starve but the doc assures me that they won't and they will take all the goodness from me which is why i have felt sooo rotten :-( Seem to be on the mend now though !

Deidre - we're not gonna find out the sex we waana leave it (if we can) as a surprise!

Nub Theory (12 week scan)

Hi all,

I came across an interesting theory called the nub theory. It claims to predict the gender of your baby from your 12 week scan (or 11 - 14 weeks - although 11 weeks is much less accurate) The nub is the beginning of the baby's genitals developing and if it goes straight out then it's a girl, and if it curls at more than a 30 degree angle, then its a boy. 92% accuracy is claimed after the 12 week mark!

A better description and examples of male and female scan pics can be found near the bottom of this website

http://www.thefetus.net/page.php?id=1847

Well I posted my 12 week scan on ingender.com and had about 20 GIRL predictions and 0 boy predictions! One of the predictions even came from an ultrasound technician. DP and I have no preference whatsoever but are somewhat curious as to whether this theory will be correct for us. I shall let you know in 3 weeks time! My thread can be found using the following link:

First Scan at 5 weeks 6 days

Hello ladies

Well I've been awake since 3:30am this morning, clearly apprehensive about the day ahead.

We had the scan and there is one yolk sack and embie is measuring in at 2.5mm at this stage, no heartbeat detected yet but apparently, for it's size that is quite normal ?

She said that because we were in for the scan so early (cos we're going on hols tomorrow), it was unlikely that we'd see a heartbeat - is this correct ?

I'm booked in for a follow up scan on Monday 5th January, it will be 7.5 weeks by then so will hopefully see a big improvement.

Yes hun, it is very early to see a HB. I really wouldn;t worry about it when you are under 6 weeks. Size and yolk sac are good news - enjoy your Xmas and look forward to seeing progress on 5th Jan x

What she has said is true - it is not impossible to find a heartbeat at 5w6d but it is extremely rare to find it so early. Here's hoping that the next scan (whenever that may be) will set you mind at ease...
