RE: my first scan too

Hi Supriya

Congratulations on your beautiful heartbeat. If you have been discharged to your GP, you need to make an appointment with them, they will probably then pass you onto thier midwife who will then arrange your next scan at your local hospital which will usually be around 12 weeks.

Congratuiations again, hope you have a lovely enjoyable pregnancy and look forward to celebrating your new arrival in October :D

Jessie, sure sounds like you are perfectly normal! I hope it helps to ease the anxiety knowing that we all go through the same thing. My 10 week scan is on Thursday and I have been up and down like a yo-yo with my emotions about it. One day Im positive and excited knowing that its most likely going to be fine, the next I'm terrified, convinced its all gone wrong.

Best of luck and enjoy seeing your baba :)

Absolutely normal. I have a 19 week scan in a few weeks and am scared about that! I think until you feel bubs moving about in there regularly so have more constant reassurance, its just natural to worry.

Good luck - the 12 week scan is FAB, you'll be amazed on how much he/she is grown and how much of them you can see! Try and interpret those butterflies as excitement, not nerves, its essentially the same feeling, and it probably is a mix of both, always helps me turn the feelings around into more PMA :-)

We are now at Jessops for the remaining scans and births. Had our first scan there at 14 weeks and we were there for 3 hours. You first have to wait for the scan, then you go somewhere else to wait for the nurse, then you wait for a midwife and then finally you wait for the doctor.

We have our 20 week scan next week which should take much longer, and we'll hopefully find out what we're having, but I wonder whether I should take a week off work for all the waiting about.

My wife is 8/9 weeks pregnant. We to had our first scan at the clinic around week 6. After the scan, we got discharged from the clinic and told to contact our GP. We contact our GP straight away. We had to leave a message for the midwife to call us and was told that would be around week 8/9. We finally, for what seemed to take an age, got a call yesterday and our first appointment is booked for Monday 16th. She told us that the appointment would last about 1 and a half hours.

Good luck with everything.

Hi

All our treatment / scans have been really quick via the IVF section at Jessops. I have another scan there a week on Mon (aprox 9 weeks)

I have seen my GP today who is referring me to the "normal" Jessops maternity dept so will have to see if I also experience the delays

I am seeing the midwife at my own GP at the end of the month? so not sure if we are all following different procedures?

9 week scan

we have been for another scan today to see what was happening with the 2nd sac, this hasnt grown at all and they still cant see anything in it and it isnt a viable pregnancy, the other however has a strong healthy heartbeat and is developing as it should be for 9 weeks. I cant get over how much its grown in a week and now know why ive been having lots of streching feelings this last week!! We told our familys last weekend and it was lovely to see the look on their faces i think they are still in shock!! I have a midwife appointment on 14th april and ill be nearly 13 weeks by then so we shall see what happens then!!

Nervous about first scan

It's a little weird to be posting a thread in the pregnancy section after posting many many threads in the IVF section!

Got my BFP on 15/03/09 and have my first scan on 2/04/09 and I'm very nervous! I keep wondering if there's anything in there - what if there isn't?!! What if I'm imagining feeling queasy and tired? I'm still breathless but not as bad as I was during the second week of the the 2WW.

Has anyone else from the March group had their first scan yet? What was it like and how did you get on?

Hello hun

I know all to well how nerve wracking waiting for that first scan is, I had worked myself up so much about it.

But I bet you will be fine, I saw my little miracle for first time a few days ago and its amazing to see.

Try to relax and if your feeling yukky this is a good sign(and its not in your head :snigger: )

Best of luck hun

Oh that's so cool Pam! Well done! Did you have the one embryo transferred or did you have more transferred?

People keep asking me (I've told everyone about my IVF so when it came to doing the test everyone knew when it was...rod for my own back!) why I want both embryos to survive as twins will be hard work but I think I'd be pretty mean if I asked for two to be transferred and only wanted one to survive...anyway...Thursday will tell!

Are you feeling yucky too? Not majorly sick or anything - just some queasiness especially when I smell something horrid (raw fish - pukey puke puke!) or when I'm really hungry (like hourly!). Boobs really tender especially if I lie on my front.

I'm still fairly bloated too and a trifle on the constipated side (TMI!) Joy! Already had to buy some heamarroid cream too - gross!!

So pleased your scan was good - roll on Thursday!

Hi Phoebe

I had a 2 transferred but only 1 made it but Im over the moon with that, Is sad the other never made it but I wasnt hoping for twins so very pleased.

I am feeling yuk, feel like Iv been on waltzers too much :snigger: sometimes feel hungover without the fun of the night before too :snigger:
This is a good sign hun, Everyone symptoms different though hun and some people dont have any.
My boobs are killing too and I was constipated too :snigger: Oh dear aren't the piles just lovely lmao anusol cream dont half look bogging does it :snigger:

Keep the PMA up hun, I bet your posting those lovely scan pics and are jumping up and down with excitement after your scan.

Something that helped me was there is 4 times more chance all is fine then not, 80% is high, Much higher than success of tx and we beaten them odds so we got through hardest part.

Cant wait to see your piccies

Hi Pam,

I also had two embryos transfered and I got BFP. My scan is due on the 6th April. I am not quite sure if both of them made it or just one.
Was everything normal for you and still only one made it? Is there any symptom through which we can make out if it is one or two??

Hi Phoebe,

I think everyone starts to panic near the scan, i went white and nearly passed out in the scan room, i had convinced myself we were going to see an empty womb... didnt help that before she showed us the screen she asked" so how many should i be looking for""??? not good, but she did turn the screen, zoomed in and there was one amazing little heartbeat.

our next scan is monday, im already starting to sweat.

the best of luck with your scan.xxx

One perfect little heartbeat...

...beating so very very fast!

I'm so thrilled I can't believe it!! Amazing amazing wonderful Lord!

Part of me is sad that our second embryo didn't survive because I really don't want to be 40 and trying for another and have to go through loads of disappointments again but my hubby is VERY RELIEVED it's just the one and I'm so happy!

Yipppeeeeeeee!!!!

According to the online calculator I've just used, I'm due on 20 November.

Phoebs xx.
