red blood at 21 weeks

Hi everyone, I had a bit of a scare a couple days ago as I went to the bathroom and there was some red blood on the TP... Of course I panicked and went straight to Dr. They took blood, listened to heartbeat, did a scan and they said they didnt find anything and couldnt really give me an answer. since then I havent seen any blood but would just like to hear from anyone with a similar story, thanks!

Hi

I have had this happen twice, just a small amount and I also passed a small blood clot in the bath once. Each time I have been examined (internal cervix closed) and nothing unusual was found. I think some-times it just happens ?????

Hope you're feeling more reassured by your visit to the doctor.

Sorry for your scare.

Is there no chance you maybe have piles? They are very common in pregnancy and sometimes cant be seen on outside and can bleed. Just a thought

Hi,

I know how scary this must be to you but I hope you are feeling better now.

I had a very light continuous bleed for a whole day at 18 weeks and went to A&E. They did a scan, checked cervix etc and found nothing wrong.

I then had a really heavy bleed (no clots or pain) at 22 weeks. It was like a period and filled a sanitary pad in 15 mins and I though the pregnancy was over. The bleeding had stopped after an hour. Went to the Delivery Suite at the hospital and they did all the checks and once again found no explanation and everything was just fine.

The doctors said to me that it could just be uterus stretching and a few small blood vessels bursting etc and to always go back if any further bleeding occurs.

I think these things just happen and some women are prone to them more than others. It's always traumatic but the chances are that things will always be fine.

Hope you feel better.

xx

Thank you for all the replies... Hoping that it doesnt happen again as my heart races about 200 bpm when it happened. Fluffysilk, what the doctors told you makes a lot of sense about the blood vessels and uterus stretching. I am thinking this is what happened to me as they couldnt find anything wrong ?(
As for piles....I have had that checked already and they didnt see anything. I was also thinking that at the time but the Dr. didnt see any.
