allergic reaction to antibiotics

hi well what a night i had.

It all started with really bad back ache so i rang my local primary care unit and they asked me to come in to check i didnt have a water infection which they said i did so i was given antibiotics after i told them i was allergic to penicillian.
so i came home and with in an hour of takin it i felt very weak could hardly breathe and felt sick so this morning i am trying to get a midwife appointment to make sure baby is ok.
Was wondering if any one else suffered like this or anyone has took ceflaxin before in pregnancy.

thanks zoe

Hi,

Sorry you've been feeling horrible.

Everything you describe is a known side effect of Cephalexin, go to your GP or back to the PCU straight away and get them to change the antibiotic you're using. I wouldn't have thought it would do any harm to your baby as they don't usually cross the placenta but will make you feel even worse.

Hi thanks for replying, well i went to see my midwife who listened to my babys heartbeat and all is well.
She even checked my urine again and told me i have no infection after all of what ive just been through was for nothing.

drink water with a slice of lemon in and make a jug of it to cool in the fridge as this helps a water infection-i you have one and help prevent it if you havent! glad your feeling better
