Pregnancy & IBS / wind

Hi all

I have IBS and have done since I was 15. Now I am pregnant it seems to be worse. I get trapped wind quite often but have it bad now and sorry TMI but I have the runs quite a lot, then othertimes the complete opposite. I have had internal piles before and my mw thinks I might get them again now as had a little blood when I passed earlier this week.

I have read that IBS can get worse during pregnancy and I do try and avoid certain foods and as long as the LO is ok I can put up with anything, but... has anyone experiencing the same thing / any advice?

Kel xx

I didn't ever have IBS until I became pregnant then I've had it pretty much constantly since about 6 weeks. I'm taking iron tablets as well now which makes the whole thing much worse (yay). However, I have found eating smaller meals more often seems to help and making sure I have prunes every day, luckily I like ready to eat prunes, and they seem to keep everything moving in a fairly consistant fashion.

Hi Rosebud
I haven't ever suffered with IBS before but during pregnancy I have had really awful constipation and trapped wind - can be so painful. I'm sure if you had IBS already, it would be even worse. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about (even though we all do!)
