Why would non identical twins come early?

Hi I am getting nervous about the birth and when it will happen! Why would I go in to labour early with twins? Could it be because of the size of the babies getting too big?

RE: Why would non identical twins come early?

Hi Frankie,

Sorry hun, really dont know but would imagine that one of the reasons why they may come early would be something to do with the size thing.
Youve done great though on reaching so many weeks, Try not to worry (easy said) im sure you will be fine and cope really well.

Hi Frankie,
I have no experience of this myself but my best friend is 29 weeks with non identical twins and her midwife told her to be ready any time from 30 weeks.
I think it's something to do with how much the uterus can stretch.
Of course all pregnancies are different and my friend is very slim, and all women are different.

Have a good chat with your midwife about it. I'm sure she'll be able to put your mind at rest

good luck! 34 weeks is great already!

I had to be induced at 38 weeks with my girl/boy twins as that was my hospitals policy, they dont like you going to 40 for some reason!!! Even being induced twice they still didn't want to come out and I think they would have quite happily stayed for the duration. Good luck having twins is fabulous xxxx
