Saro is in hospital

Hi all.

Saro has asked me to let you all know that she had a scare on Friday morning with a big bleed at home. It was all very scary and she was taken by ambulance to hospital.

She is still in hospital. They had thought they would do a C-section this morning but thankfully things have calmed down.

Saro and her baby boy are both fine.

She obviously hasn't got internet access and is not sure whether they will allow her to go home or whether she would be in hospital for potentially 7 weeks.

I will of course be happy to pass on your messages and best wishes to her.

Take care all

Guys,

All seems to have calmed down a bit with Saro this morning. Her tummy isn't as tender like yesterday and the baby's heartbeat is more settled.

She has been told the rest of the time could be a yo yo but she is calm and well looked after.

Take care all.

Hello it's me

Hi guys

1 of my very clever high tech friends has brought me a thing into hospital that plugs into the computer and let's me go on line - hurrah!!!!

Thank you all for your kind wishes.

It was absolutely awful on Friday morning and I was terrified, I'll be honest but I'm happy to say that I'm feeling fine now and the baby is also fine.

I've managed to stay on the ante natal ward all day today without once being threatened with delivery and taken to the delivery suite - so I'm quite proud of myself !! :snigger:

I will know more tomorrow and perhaps be given an indication of whether I'll be staying or not. To be honest after the bleed (and I managed to get blood absolutely everywhere - it looked like a crime scene at home!!) I'm quite happy to stay here. They say there is every chance that it will happen again so I don't really want to be anywhere other than hospital if that happens!.

I look forward to catching up with everyone again now that I'm back on line.

xxx

Hi Saro

Glad to hear everything is ok. I am only a couple of days behind you and I can imagine the scare you must have got. Did they say what could have caused it?? I know that if your bubs were born now everything would be ok re breathing etc but we all want to keep them nice and cosy for as long as we can eh??

Take care

Hello all,
Thanks for your kind words and support - it really does mean a lot.

The update is that I have seen a consultant yesterday and again today on the ward round. They say that I will be in hospital until at least my next scan which will be in about 2 or 2.5 weeks. They will see whether the placenta has moved away from the whole (the oz) and if it has, which they doubt, they may let me home with strict instructions. It is only about a 10% chance that it will have moved cos it really should have done so by now and clearly hasn't. Obviously it is more likely that it won't have moved in which case I will stay in hospital until 38 weeks when they will deliver me (c-section).

If I have a big bleed in the meantime, which is also apparently quite likely, then they may need to get me into theatre immediately (hence the need for me to be here) and they will obviously deliver under GA if that is the case.

So there you go, all seems fine right now. The baby-father is skiing in Austria with my blessing cos there's no point in him hanging around here waiting for something that might not happen - also if it's an emergency he'd miss it anyway unless he was by my side 24-7 so it's pointless him being here.

Nurse just arrived so must dash. Take care everyone. xxxxx

I'm been discharged !!!

Great news - I got released from hospital yesterday but was just too shattered to log on and let you know.
I've not been sleeping at all well in hospital, mainly due to the small bed and the terrible hip and back ache I've had when sleeping. I've been getting up every hour to walk about so by yesterday afternoon I was like a zombie. My constipation has also been increasing since being in hospital despite medication and it's been very uncomfortable to say the least.
The consultant who I saw yesterday was concerned that I was becoming more sedentary and said that I'd be likely to get other complications by staying there so long and as I hadn't had a bleed for 2 weeks he'd send me home! He said that even if I'd been at like 22 weeks if I was bleeding every few days they would just keep me there til the end but as I hadn't bled again I could go.
I've had strict instructions not to go far (although I can go for a walk and a gentle swim), absolutely no sex as that could start labour (just as I'm hopefully getting back with the ex - bad news !!!!), and that if I bleed again I MUST call an ambulance (like I'd do anything else!!) and that if I have any tightenings, or pain or feel the baby move less then I must call them. I've got my scan and an appointment next Friday, and I'm going back in on Tuesday to the breastfeeding clinic as well. After the scan they'll either say that the placenta has moved far enough away from the os for me to give birth naturally (not overly likely) or they'll set a date.
So there you go - that's my news.
