Positive stories needed on bleeding but still being preggers please! !

Yesterday, at 5 weeks 1 day (just like Stella!) I wiped to find a pink stain, sorry if TMI. Needless to say I am terrified. My clinic told me to up my dose of the Progesterone pessaries which I have but its stll reddish tinged today. Thankfully no full bleed yet, but I am scared *hitless thats what its going to happen next of course. I go for a blood test tomorrow so hopefully wll have more info then. In the meantime I really need to calm my nerves!

Esp. love to hear from others that had bleeding and everything worked out! As I'm trying to keep my PMA up. The clinic says its not uncommon, but obviously very stressful. I think I'm keeping sane - except if DH tries to cuddle me, then I fall to bits and get all emotional!!

Lots and lots of women on here have had some kind of bleeding and then gone on to have healthy pregnancies. We always say that it's 'common but not normal' if that makes sense? There seems to be higher incidence of bleeding here because many members have conceived by artificial methods and have taken hormone altering drugs which mess with what's 'normal'.

Blood loss 'is' scary, early pregnancy is scary anyway because even if you don't bleed, you don't know what's going on in there until you get a scan. Unfortunately, just because someone else had bleeding and went on to have a healthy pregnancy, it doesn't mean that everyone who experiences symptoms will have such positive news. All you can do is sit tight and wait, hard I know

Have a look here for some information....

Hi Deidre,

Hope everything goes well today. I had some spotting on Monday night and went for bloods Tues. They had gone from 31 to 893 to 12,800! They even scanned me to find everything was in the right place but that i had a small bleed under the yolk sac which was not uncommon and can be caused by a burst vessel as everything is stretching inside. Just advised me to rest and take it easy and now the bleeding has stopped thankfully. Just have to wait while next tues to see a heartbeat hopefully!

I bled between 5 and 6 weeks too. Started off as pink, then became red then eventually brown. I was seen at the early pregnancy clinic where they did blood tests and scanned me. They couldn't see much early on but the yolk sac was definitely there and they ascertained that my HCG was rising well.

When I was scanned at about 9 weeks, they saw where the bleeding had come from and seemed to be an implantation bleed, which is very common.

Now I am 23 weeks preggers and all has been well since then! Don't think the worst just yet, these things happen, for no apparent explanation and pregnancy can and does continute as normal! Good luck!

Hi Deidre. I'm so sorry you're having such a worrying time. Bleeding in pregnancy is frightening isn't it?

I bled in both my pregnancies and was very lucky - I now have a 3 1/2 year old and a 9 week old. In my 1st pregnancy no-one could give me a reason, 2nd time round I had a sub chorionic haematoma.

Unfortunately bleeding/not bleeding isn't always indicative of what is actually going on inside and although dreadfully hard there is little you can do other than have bloods/scan to confirm what's happening.

Thinking of you and hoping that everything is ok.

x

Thanks everyone, just what I needed :-) I got my blood tests back today and they all look good, pg levels at 127 and HCG 3,896 (up from 36 and 370 last week). They are doing another set of bloods on Wednesday just to keep an eye on things. Even though I am still bleeding I feel more relieved, the bleeding is quite light and is now dark brown. keeping my fingers crossed all stays well and this bleeding stops soon!!!

Just an update I guess, still bleeding, very light though, but been almost a week, its stopped twice for like half a day then kicked back in in the evening! Another blood test tomorrow, so hopefully I will at least see if the spotting all this week indicates anything has been going wrong. Fingers crossed!!! Surely its good it hasn't turned into anything more full on/heavy? Arghhhh I am so sick of all this waiting around!!!!

Yay!!! All is well, in the last week, despite this stupid bleeding my HCG levels have gone from around 3,900 to over 16,000. A BIG relief. Another test on Tuesday but I think I can relax a bit more now and just enjoy my Xmas, I know that it doesn't seem to be indicative of anything bad. The clinic is pretty unconcerned, as long as it stays light and brown (TMI!!)

Infact I have felt nauseous most of today and very sleepy, which I am very pleased about too :-) Wahooo

Hi Deirdre,

Havent been on for a few days but just read your post.
So sorry about your bleeding and i know its worrying, but im glad you have had a good result with your bloods etc.
Enjoy your christmas.

I had bleeding yesterday and stil a bit of brown stuff, but called hospital yesterday and within 24 hours they scanned and took bloods.
hcg at 14,000 and they actually saw a tiny heartbeat on the screen.
really didnt expect to be that lucky, i expected the worst but it really helps to know that there are women who experience bleeding but go on to have healthy pregnancies.

good luck.
sending you lots of :angel2:

Deidrie,
Thanks for your message.
I just feel so lucky that i am with glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Within 24 hours of me calling them they had my bloods done, results back and had scanned me.
youre right - it is great seeing the heartbeat, its actually just a round circle on the screen with a tiny flicker. but it is reassuring.
still i am not getting too excited, just trying to stay positive but its not easy.
i really hope you have a good christmas and feel a little more positive.
heres hoping the new year brings us all the strength we need to deal with whatever we are experiencing - cos there are those who would give anything to be in our places despite our worries.
praying we all find our inner peace.
Ameena
