Slight spotting at 5 weeks and a bit concerned

Well I'm 5 weeks 3 days and all a bit concerned today.

I got up this morning and went for my first wee of the day, when I wiped myself there was a very light pink tinge to it, like as if I was spotting I guess.

As you can imagine at that moment I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Around 10am I called the emergency line for my clinic, the nurse said it could hopefully turn out to be nothing but then again it could be a sign of something bad.

I suggested perhaps going for a blood test tomorrow morning and then again on Wednesday morning to see whether my bloods are as they should be and increasing, I haven't had a blood test yet. She said it might be worth doing that if I wanted. I'm going to call the hospital again in the morning to see what they say. They might tell me to just wait until my 5 week 6 day scan on Wednesday (the reason it is early is because we're going on holiday on Boxing Day for a week).

I've put my feet up for the rest of the day but each time I've been to the loo there's been nothing more, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way as it's been such a tough journey to get this far ;(

Try not to worry too much Vivvy, thats what happened to me too and I was about 5 wks I think. Just remember worrying myself silly. I had the 2 blood tests which showed that the level was increasing and Im now 21 weeks pregnant.

Hi Vivvy

Hope everything goes ok - I also had spotting but it turned out to be a bust blood vessel and everything was fine. This happened to me at 13 weeks. There has been loads of ladies who have had spotting and everything turned out fine.

Take it easy

Hi Vivvy

Sorry to hear about this and I'm pleased it seems to have stopped. If you haven't already done so, take a quick look over this thread BLEEDING IN PREGNANCY which has some really useful information in it.

Your scan on Wednesday is likely to be a little bit to early to see a heartbeat so getting the bloods done may give you more answers at this stage.

Keep us updated.

Good luck Vivvy, your not alone here, Stella, myself and Chatterbox are all around 6 weeks and all started spotting just after the 5 week mark - it makes me think this is really common! As long as it stays light and your levels keep rising try not to worry, I know its easier said than done. Definitely take the blood tests they help you relax, I have been so stressed (now been bleeding, very lightly, since Wednesday), but my test on Friday showed my levels were still really good. Just take it really easy and make sure you relax, no frantic running around for Xmas for you!@!

Hope the bleeding stops soon. Got my fingers crossed for you.xx

Hope the bleeding stops soon Vivvy.

BTW are you still on the baby aspirin coz that will also make you more likely to bleed easily if there's a little blood vessel that's burst etc.

Hi girlies

Sorry for lack of contact, I've been working all day.

Well I've not had anything since - touch wood - and yeah I was kind of thinking there are quite a few of us in similar boats.

Chatterbox, I was thinking the same that I'm still on the baby aspirin - until 3 months apparently - so yes I am likely to bleed easily and this is probably/hopefully the cause.

I decided that as long as this mornings wipe was okay that I was gonna steer clear of rushing to the hospital to do the bloods as I think it would only create more stress for me.

So next step is the 5 week 6 day scan on Wednesday, so say a prayer for me.

Anyway, onwards and upwards for all of us. I'm sure you'll agree you get off one rollercoaster and hop on to another !!!!!

Thanks for your support, it's nice to know you're not alone isn't it.
