Tiredness

Is it just me or are people completely shattered. I am so tired that I want to cry at times.

I'm finding it hard to concentrate at work and when I get home all I want to do is have a bath and put my PJ's on and by 8pm - 9pm I'm ready for bed.

I've got a hole in my heart which probably isn't helping and I don't have my hospital appointment until next Monday so haven't been able to ask.

Is this normal and does it get any better ?

Thanks

Netty this is very normal, especially in the early days. You may find that as you get past 12-14 weeks it gets easier, but I didn't and have been totally exhausted all the way along! (Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!) Just try to rest as much as you can, and if this means going to sleep early in the evening, then do so. The worst thing you can do is push yourself right now. Your body is going through major changes, your heart is having to deal with 50% more blood circulating your body, so with a heart condition you may well find that you are more tired than the rest of us. Try to eat well too. Hope it gets easier hun!

Thanks for that Mrs Smiff.

I'm at the joint cardiac and antenatal unit on Monday so I'll see what they say then.

I must admit that the tiredness is terrible in the first tri - I was going to bed at the same time as my 5yr old DD!!

I've suffered a bit recently as well, and was signed off work for a week as I was so exhausted - however, I'm feeling a bit less tired at the moment, so hopefully it might last a bit longer

You probably will be feeling it a bit more, so take it easy, and if you need to sleep, then sleep - your body's obviously trying to tell you something!

I could barely move in the first tri. I would get home, throw up, put my pj's on, eat a little for dinner and be in bed by 8:30 or earlier! I don't know how the heart issue affects it, but from a strictly pregnancy point of view, it WILL get better! Give it 2 - 4 weeks and you will start to realise just how much more energy you have!

Good luck!

Its unreal isn't it?! 1st pregnancy I used to crawl home from work, lie on the sofa with my coat/shoes still on and DH would wake me up when he came in 2 hours later!
