testing for toxoplasmosis and listeria?

Hi everyone,

not sure if i am officially in the 3rd tri or not (27 weeks).

I am so paranoid about things i have eaten and have felt unwell for a couple of days so am convinced i have toxoplasmosis or listeria. i have read they can give flu like symptoms a few weeks after infection.

I ate a bite of medium cooked sausage (still a little pink) and had bar food that was not heated to a 'hot' temperature a couple of weeks ago. then yesterday i felt shattered and out of breath easily. i had aches in my legs and then back all during the night and felt shattered again at midday. Not so bad now but lost my appetite.

I don't know if i have a virus or what! I have an appointment in 4 days but don't think they will routinely test for these infections. Anyone else presses for these tests or even just paniced like me?

x

Is your neck stiff?
Do you have a temperature?

If you got a temperature then it might be worth checking it out.
Mention it to your MW and ask if she can do bloods for you.
Alternatively you could go to your GP and ask him/her to do it for you.
They are used to pregnant women and all their worries.

Hope you feel better soon!

thank you torisen.

I had a temperature of 37.6 on friday night - the day i felt most zapped. it went down quite quickly though.

I feel much better this morning and slept better, just had lower back pain when i woke. If i feel dodgy today i will call m/w.

If nobody will do the tests to reassure me i will research how to do them privately!

Hi Zoe, if it's still bothering you go to the doc/mw - best to be safe than sorry! Hope you're feeling better! I remember having a blood test, if you do need to do it privately I don't think it's expensive.
