Daft questions from a confused 1st timer...

Hi guys, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this....

I was just wondering about a few things -

How do you work out your dpo? Is the day of ec? (my embryos were 4 cell on day 2).

Does anyone know what size sacs/embryos/fetuses should be at certain times? (I know this is probably a really silly question and probably irrelevant as everyone is different... just wondering).

What are you supposed to do when you find out? (apart from be ecstaticly happy obviously!!). I have another scan in 2 weeeks time, do I wait until after that and see if the clinic puts us in touch with a midwife, or should I call my GP now and got from there....??

Confused!!

Have a look at this Pregnancy calculator it has different options for people that have had TX that should give you the answer you are looking for.

I think the standard procedure is for you to go to your GP and they sort out contact with the midwife.

I hope this helps. Enjoy your pregnancy hun.

EC=ovulation
So, if you want to work out your due date you count 38 weeks from EC.
As to the process over there, i have no clue. Over here I went to the clinic for a scan at 6 weeks and again at 8 weeks then was refered back to my gynae for follow up from 12 weeks and continued there.

Dusky you usually go to your GP and let them know. Areas are different but GP will usually put you in contact with Midwife/hospital for normal scans blood tests etc. The only difference when you have had the treatment privaltey [and i suppose it same if treatment through the NHS] is you get the benefit of an early scan to confirm preg and tell you how many etc.
Lost one twin at 10 weeks, heartbroken.

Hi Dusky

Firstly congratulations :D

My understanding is that you count from ET rather than EC. A couple of days might not be here nor there now but if you go overdue you might be thankful for being able to wait a couple more days for it to happen naturally (rather than it being induced). Have a word with your midwife - they'll probably date it from when you tell them!

Websites such as babycentre.co.uk, welcomebabyhome.com and the bbc's pregnancy calculator (not FZ endorsed links) can give you week by week information on the size of your baby and its development.

My GP didn't want to see me (!) A lot of them will take a positive HPT as confirmation of your pregnancy and you'll see the midwife rather than them. Give your GP's surgery a call and ask the receptionists what happens in your area.

Wishing you a happy and healthy eight or so months.

Just call your GP surgery and ask for a booking appointment with the midwife, this will be done between 8 and 12 weeks pregnant, when the midwife has discused your pregnancy and general health with you it will be decided if you will see your midwife all the time or if you need to see the consultant at the hospital, all depends on your individual circumstances. Congragulations.
