Dates Confusion

A quick question on dates as I'm a bit confused. My IVF clinic told me my dates based on egg collection and I should be 12 weeks now. I had my scan at the hospital yesterday and they are sure I'm 13 weeks. Is this possible or could the baby just be a big?

It will vary from time to time and from baby and baby. Did you just see the sonographer, a MW or consultant?

You could let the MW/con know that from your dates you are "only" 12 weeks.

Being put forward a week feels great but when you reach your 40 weeks and due date and the pressure of inductions etc when in fact you are 39 weeks could be tricky.

Be honest with them and push a bit so that you get the right dates... :)

Caz - you know without a doubt when your baby was conceived and you know without a doubt how far you are into your pregnancy so just tell them that outright. Bubs is probably just a bit big. Or the angle of the scan wand or how much padding was between the wand and bubs or how full or empty your bladder was at that time could have skewed the measurements and made it seem that bubs is bigger than it actually is. You know your dates so stick to them...

Just because I am curious, Hun - when was your EC?

Caz they were the same with me when I had my 12 week dating scan. I was 12 weeks and 2 days and they said I was 13 weeks and 4 days. I told them how impossible that was and that having had IVF I knew exactly when this baby was made and they relented. Dont let them bring your dates forward. As Torisen says it can cause havoc when they start pressuring you to be induced at the end.

There is some discussion about this here. Scan date versus MY date
I say stick to your guns if you are absolutely certain.
