What is this antenatal appt for?

Hi Ladies,

I have just come home to find a letter from the hospital saying I have an Obstetrics - Antenatal appt in early November. I had my booking in visit with my midwife at 8 weeks at my doctor's surgery and we made a follow up appt for early November as well.

The letter says absolutely nothing other than I need to be there at my time, etc. What is this appt for if I already have the midwife appt and I know she works also at the hospital and they all use the same system???

I would be about 16 weeks then.

Thank you for your help!

Sorry hun, no idea. I had a 16 week appointment with the midwife and that was it until my 20ish week scan. I'd suggest giving them/your midwife a call to ask. You're not under any special care for this pregnancy are you?

A lot of areas will send you for a visit with the Obstetrician just to ensure you don't have any health issues which effect the risk factors in your pregnancy. It's usually just a chance to have a chat, and tell them what you plan for your birth, and for them to introduce themselves to you. I wouldn't worry mate, it's all painless!

Thanks ladies.

I am low risk and bloods all came back normal, so was a bit scary to get the letter!

Ah well, at least it is an extra morning off of work!!! :snigger:

That is definitely a good way of looking at it! I would stretch it out for as long as poss, take yourself off for coffee and cake before getting back to work. Make the most of it!
