Weight gain

Has anyone else piled on the pounds over treatment? I usually gain about half a stone over the course of a treatment cycle, but this time I have gained almost a stone. Today is the first time I have weighed myself since treatment started, and I almost fell off the scales! I'm not even eating more than usual, although I did increase my protein intake with chicken and red meat, but I was eating it with salad and it was cooked in a healthy way. I am gobsmacked!

RE: Weight gain

Hi Mrs Smiff

I know the steroids can cause weight gain, I gained 10 lbs over about 6 weeks from taking them...also if you are having to take or have taken hormones this may play a part too.

Phew thanks Blondie! I'm glad you said that cos I was quick to blame the steroids then thought, hang on, what if it's not that, and I'm just a pig! Hope I won't have to take them for much longer then.

It's more than likely those, I was exactly the same although must confess :O when my appetite grew so did the amount of food I ate. I was a bit of a pig... :snigger:

But since then I have been warned on several occasions that they cause weight gain, especially around the belly area so you are not a piglet :D

Yes im on steroids too and my belly has grown! I look about 4 months gone. Ive put on about 1/2 a stone and my appetite has grown. I have to take them for 12 weeks so hopefully then it will come off, as i understand it, its not fat but just fluid etc... Heres hoping thats true!

Livia, I tested VERY early! I got a positive clearblue on day 10 after transfer and had a beta HCG blood test the same day which came back positive. I'm so glad you're joining me on this journey!
