Bleeding

*tmi warning*

I went for a pee about 11 ish, when i wiped there was a load of red blood, looked down and the toilet was full of it. I phoned the clinic and there going to scan me tomorrow, the clinic told me there no point going to the hospital today as its a bank holiday and they wont scan me either. The blood is just pi$$ing out of me, im not sore have no cramps, just bleeding, so far the blood is different to an af as theres no clots just lots of blood. i realy dont know what to do, im 8 weeks 5 days today.

Oh god milner. how terrifying. I don't understand why the hospital wouldn't scan you today - have you called the early pregnancy unit?

lots of love

Oh Milner, how scared you must be :( I have to agree that if it is that heavy it needs looking at, especially if there are no clots. Do you feel ok in yourself? You aren't feverish or light headed? Please go and get seen :(

Milner - the same thing happened to me. They told me to wait but I was so worried I went to A&E and they transferred me straight away. Don't take any crap get yourself there. They have a duty to look after you. I have everything crossed for you. Remember you and your little are the most important - if you have to annoy them. It worked for me.

So sorry to here that too. I had red blood last week and I was in my 9th wk. I was so shocked and went to the hosp, but they turned out to be useless b'cos they could not do me a scan (no scan available or nobody to operate it) and that is obviously the important thing, having a scan. I say wait and see your clinic, particularly if it is not causing pain and have the scan. It should turn out fine for you. The scan will be able to tell you if your babies are surrounded by blood around their sac.

I'm fine and so are my babies. Hope everything is fine for you!

I went to the clinic this morning and got a scan, I have a clot underneath the baby and thats where the bleeding's coming from, The babys fine just now, they said that if the clot was above the baby then as it comes out it would take the baby with it, but since its underneath then ive got a good chance that everything will be okay. Ive got a scan next sunday again to check it, The baby is perfect its now got little arms and legs and the heartbeat is still as strong as it was before. I burst out crying as soon as we saw the heartbeat, it was just such a relief. The bloods easing up now aswell its gone to like a dark brown colour. If anything happends during the week then ive to phone the clinic, but fingers crossed everything goes smoothly from now on, couldnt handle anymore scares like that.

Hi there,

Just read your thread just now and I am so glad you eventually got a scan and saw your baby is doing well.

I had bleeding with #2 baby (on 3 occassions up to week 12) and it was also a large clot, also underneath the baby, that thankfully caused no harm to him but scared the life out of me!

I just had a scan for my current pregnancy, on Friday there, when I was just over 8 weeks and they told me there is a chance I might have some bleeding or brown discharge as I have an area of bruising there, but not to worry as it is underneath the baby and if it comes away, it shouldn't do any harm.

I asked why that happens and she told me that it happens with EVERY pregnancy, at the implantation stage, and sometimes the blood is reabsorbed by your body and other times it leaves via nearest exit! She explained it to me in a way that made sense....if you bump your arm them you get a bruise and that is just blood that is trapped under there which, if the skin isn't broken, cannot go out so it is just reabsorbed by your body (when you see it at first its purple, then brown then yellow etc) and it is only because the bruising caused by implantation has a means of exit that sometimes we see the blood.

They really did make it sound like it happens a lot but also understood how scary it is when it happens!

Hope that your bleeding is starting to settle down now....who needs that worry!

Wishing you a more stress free pregnancy from now on!

Bravegirl...sorry to hear you have had some bleeding too...are they doing blood tests for you?
With # 2 my first bleed was at just over 4 weeks so the EPU did HCG tests every 3 days to see what my levels were doing then scanned me as soon as they were over a certain level, (can't remember what that was sorry) which turned out to be 5 weeks and 5 days and we were able to see a blob that had a heartbeat at that early stage....that was just an external scan too. My sister-in-law had to have an internal scan at 7 weeks to see her baby though so I guess everyone is different. Hope the bleeding settles and all goes well at your scan.x

thanks mayo your post gives me some hope. I just need to hang on until wednesday I'm afraid. The bleeding seems to have stopped and I am resting so am a little more relaxed but obviously worried that the baby has died.

Great news about positive scans and good luck with your scan Wed BG.

Have had a dreadful two days of symptomfreeness apart from sore boobs and then some cramping today. Convinced self no baby and have been in tears for two days waiting to start bleeding. OH doesn't know what to day to me.

What a rollercoaster - 2ww is a walk in the park compared to this huh

Milner, I am so pleased that your scan turned out well and you got to see little arms and legs, that must have been quite a moment for you.

Well done for keeping it together too.
