bleeding after twin birth emergency c sectiin

Hi ladies!

Just wondering how long you lovely ladies bleeding lasted for after birth?

My twins were born by emergency c section and incas in hospital for five days after the birth and the bleeding seemed to have lightened but now it's gotten heavier again! Just wondering is this normal also was thinking I would bleed more with being pregnant with twins anyway?!

Thanks juls

Hiya I didn't have twins but I had bleeding for 4 weeks after pregnancy, again it was natural but not sure that matters, my friend had a section I'm sure she had bleeding for 5 weeks, app the more you rest the quicker it should stop, easier said than done though .

Congratulations on your twins

I didn't have a c section but bled for ages after the birth, a lot longer than I expected to. Are you getting visits from your midwife still? She should be able to put your mind at rest. If you are really worried pick up the phone to her.

Congratulations on the birth of your twins x

Hi and congrats! I bled for almost 8 weeks after a natural delivery. As others have said just check it with your midwife if you are worried. Xx

I too had an emergency section but at only 25 weeks so I am guessing the bleed may have been less than if I had been at full term. I know that when I had them a guy came in and literally cleaned me out.....sounds wrong I know. I only bled for a few days from memory which I was really surprised about. I think that the guy at Addenbrookes felt it was pretty normal to get rid of all the 'gubbins' prior to closing up to help the mother be able to get on with things.....he was foreign and I think it's the norm where he came from. My friend had triplets and she had the same type of thing. It did mean it was more painful to recover but the lack of bleeding did make things easier when up and down to NICU. I would just give your midwife a call if y are worried but everyone is very different.

I bled for about eight weeks.
I also remember what you describe, it lightening and then suddenly being heavy again. I read up about it and it's something to do with the uterus contracting back down a few weeks after the birth, and quite normal.
