Gestone injections

Hi all, I've been prescribed gestone for next cycle...any thoughts? Did you bleed whilst on it (seem to with the pessaries)? Any experiences would be appreciated. I have been told I will probably have to go to the doctors to be injected- did anyone else do it themselves? It's very expensive so I don't want to do it if it's not going to be a sensible decision.

Hi Louise

Yes I have had them and no bleed. You inject in top quartile of your bum..into the muscle. Hubbie can do it for's painful..needle is big but you get used to it. No need for doctor to do it. X

As you know I didn't have any bleeding at all and I also did them myself.
The needle is a whopper but looking at it was worse than the injection, I found!
I was pretty blasé about needles after five cycles, though...!

Hi Louise

I had Gestone injections the last 2 cycles & it really helped boost my progesterone. No bleeding. Needle's not as bad as it looks. DH injected them into my bum for me. All I will say, is make sure you massage your bum regularly to help disperse it as the oil can form a bit of a lump in your bum otherwise. This time I'm on prontogest injections, which are pretty similar.

Good luck
