Going insane please help me!

Hi all,

I hope that this is in the right place for advice?

I had IUI 18 days ago.
13 dpiui faint but definate lines on FRER and Clear blue but not pregnant on digital test
14 dpiui pregnant 1-2 on digital tests and darker lines on FRER and clear blue
15 dpiui started bleeding light at first then very heavy illuminous almost red blood and clots and horrid cramps. Rang hospital they said it sounds like pg is failing
16 dpiui pregnant 1-2 on digital with 1st morning urine bleeding continues
17 dpiui pregnant 1-2 with afternoon sample after only going to loo 1 hour before
18 do iui did FRER again expecting to see fading line, strong line came up as soon as wet had gone over it way before it even reached the other side. Bleeding has stopped

Anyone had anything like this? Ended badly or well?

Any thoughts welcome xxx

Thank you xxx

No wonder you are are going out of your mind. Unfortunately there is no definite way of knowing until a scan as the tests can still show positive due to the hormones in you. The fact that you have stopped bleeding though is positive - my clinic just say to try and rest and I know how hard it is just waiting and kw... Hang in there and I'm hoping it's good news soon. Many people bleed in pg (some lots) and still go on to have a happy outcome. Sending love to you xx

Hello

I am not surprised you are so anxious as it's a truly awful situation to be in. I can only say that I think you will have to wait and see, as difficult as that is. I hope your clinic and people near you can give you the support you need until the picture is clearer.

Sending you a hug.

I'm so sorry, I know how stressful this is. I had awful bleeding at 5w 4 d - bright red, clots, achy belly but all was ok luckily in my case. I also had similar bleeding at 10 and 12 weeks. The wait is agonising I know - but unfortunately you have to sit it out. I'm keeping everything crossed for you. I think you might be at the same clinic I was at (guys). They gave me a blood test at 5w5d to check hcg.

Take care xx

Thank you Net, we did have treatment at GUYS but we are now under Hewitt at Liverpool.

So today I'm 19dpiui and I've got a pregnant 2-3 on a clear blue test and a tiny but of spotting and I mean tiny! I rang clinic this morning and they said that that sounds more positive but won't do blood tests unless they suspect an ectopic. They said I need to wait a week and test again! A week! Then if still ok go for scan on 8th may as originally planned. This is torture! Do you think my GP would do the tests for me?

Hi

Your GP may do the test (BETA HCG) for you, but when I had it with my GP, they said it was a relatively uncommon thing for them to test. My clinic prefer you to have a blood test to confirm pregnancy, and then one 48 hours later to see what the bloods are doing (people talk about the fact the bloods should double in 48hours, but from memory I think a 60% rise is the minimum they look for - I am not an expert though). Do bear in mind that it is also very, very stressful waiting for blood results (I've been through this) as even two might not be conclusive. You could go private and get the blood tests done yourself, but you will need to have someone to interpret them - and you should use the same lab for both the tests so that there is consistency. The blood results might give a clearer picture, but a scan would be more conclusive. It's an agonising time, I'm sorry.

Hi ladies,

Had hcg done yesterday at GP 4w6d and it's 978, the comment GP put was pregnancy still present. They are not doing another one now til Monday. Does this sound very low to you?
I just need to know someone had a hcg this low and had a baby before I can sleep again! Still got 2-3 this morning on clear blue digital, but I think it's got to be 2000 before it shows 3 weeks plus?

Hi Gingerbean.

I had HCG done when I was PG with my little girl at 13 days post ET with a 6 day blasto, and it was 91. I then had it done again 19 days post Et and it was 1,430 - that made me about 5w4days on my second HCG so your numbers sound fine to me, remembering that they should double in 48 hours give or take. I had terrible bleeding which necessitated that second HCG test, but my LO is here and well, so please don't loose hope. These early days are so scary, I know. Try and hang on in there and I'm keeping it all crossed for you. xxx

Hi Gingerbean

I can't comment on the HCG number itself. There is lots on the web about it, but I would try and steer away if you possibly can. Really hope all goes well for you on Monday - it is the most anxious time, I know.

take care

Hi. I hope this helps to give you some peace of mind. I had some spotting With this pregnancy too. I've looked back at my calendar for you and at 4 weeks 6 days my levels were 695. I too was doing a variety of tests but I left a gap of about five days from doing anothe Clearblue conception indicator test. Your right levels do need to be above 2000 to get a 3+. I did one at about 4 weeks and 4 days and it was 2-3 then I did one at 5 weeks 2 days and it came out at 3+. So within 3 days my levels had gone from 695 to anywhere over 2000. My pregnancy has been fine and I'm now just over 14 weeks pregnant. I had an early loss prior to this pregnancy and although the levels were rising and pretty much doubling they never reached more than 141 at 5 weeks. With my last three pregnancies I have had some bleeding or spotting and each time I have rang the EPAU at my local hospital and they have seen me and scanned me once I reached 7 weeks. If this is before you were booked in for a scan then it might be worth ringing your EPAU. Mine were amazin with me each time regardless of the outcome and gave me much more support and information than my ivf clinic ever gave me. X

Turned out to be ectopic

Hi all,

Thank you for reading this and for your kind words. Unfortunately it did turn out to be ectopic. I am going to leave my symptoms here so that if any ladies are worried in the future they can read here. Please remember that everyone is different though and if you are worried about ectopic to get checked out at your local early pregnancy unit. The ones near me were on a self referral basis so you didn't have to see the Gp first. Some of my symptoms were not typical of an ectopic.

Prior to this I got a mouth ulcer, bleeding gums, frequent sweet smelling urine, keen sense of smell and bigger but not sore boobs. The boobs seemed to go up and down though as though the hormone was fluctuating.

13 DPIUI faint BFPS in several line tests but negative on digital
14 DPIUI (4w0d) positive 1-2 on digital and stronger lines on tests but not as strong as the control line
15 DPIUI (4w1d) strong period pains and right sided ovary area pain and pulling, started spotting which turned to heavy bleeding with clots
16 DPIUI (4w2d) bleeding continued, no pain, still pregnant 1-2 on digital
17 DPIUI (4w3d) bleeding lighter - spotting, no pain, still pregnant 1-2 on digital
18 DPIUI (4w4d) spotting, mid day urine, really strong line on FRER came up as soon as wet went over it
19 DPIUI (4w5d) bleeding stopped completely, 2-3 weeks on digital
20 DPIUI (4w6d) had HCG done 978 complained to GP of very mild stabbing pain around right ovary
21 DPIUI (5w) mild stabbing pain continued
22 DPIUI (5W1d) mild stabbing pain continued
23 DPIUI (5w2d) mild stabbing pain continued, started spotting normal looking brown blood like at the end of AF, went to emergency gyne, pain went from 1/10 to 9/10 within 2 hours, bleeding increase to light flow of brown/red. Possible kidney stones suspected as HCG had risen to 2323 had rectal pain
24 DPIUI (5w3d) kept in hospital, pain back to stabbing pain but stronger than before. Low blood pressure and left mild shoulder tip pain (felt like burning pain) bleeding turned to brown with black clots and gritty bits in it
25 DPIUI kept in hospital. Had scan, confirmed ectopic on scan symptoms the same, HCG had come down to 900s, appeared to be reabsorbing, bleeding same as day before
26 DPIUI kept in hospital twinges in right ovary and left shoulder continue, bleeding the same
27 DPIUI allowed home, hormone in the 300s bleeding the same with heavier episodes, feel weak and dizzy
28 DPIUI is today still feel dizzy and weak, still having brown discharge with black clots and gritty bits interspersed with 'normal' red bleeding, still getting right sided stomach pain but shoulder pain is much less.

As I said some of these things are not typical of an ectopic so please get checked out if you think that something is wrong.

Feel free to pm me with any questions.

I hope that my next visit to the pregnancy zone will be a happier one

Dear Gingerbean

I'm really sorry to hear your sad news - I was thinking about you before and wondering how you are getting on.

I know how scary it is to be faced with an ectopic (mine was suspected, but didn't turn out that way in the end), and the terrible disappointment that comes from knowing you were so close to achieving what you want so much.

I'm glad your ectopic could be managed without drugs or surgery. Hope this will mean you can recover - physically at least - quickly so that you can consider trying again. Don't give up. You will get there.

Take care
