Glad you have something for him cheenab but please don't think it's anything you've done wrong its just one of those things you did everything you could to try to sort him. Hope it will soon be on the mend. I know my lo had a really sore bum - had like a cracked weeping skin that appeared within 24 hours and I felt awful and that was because those teeth were making him bottom sore. It's horrid isn't it xx

Thanks Louise, it's horrible isnt it!! Really feel for him at the moment!!
Left his nappy off earlier while he had lunch, and it went straight through him!!! Lucky I put a towel on his chair ;)
Super proud mummy moment earlier, took Zachary to gymbabes and he walked from one apparatus to another so they gave him a walking certificate :D

Chennab he is doing amazingly well. Teeth do have a lot to answer for. When Cobi gets another one through he gets projectile vomiting- not nice!!!

As for the feelings of wanting more children. I would just like to say I don't think the feelings ever go away. I would dearly love another one and my heart yearns to have another one but I have to think practical. I think when we see them start to grow up and become more independent we feel enormous pride but its also tinged with sadness that they are growing so fast. I think for me if I had another the feelings would come back anyway. But I have to think of our ages, money, space, and giving the boys the time they deserve.

God when I look around I realise how incredibly lucky we are to just have one baby.xxxx

hi girls

cheenab - is your little one walking that's amazing.

as for teeth i do sympathise with you all, my poor ds has been pulling his ear for weeks now, sometimes he looks like he's pulling it so hard i don't know how it doesn't hurt, what do you all use to help them? there's only so much calpol and teething salts i can give

my ds has never had nappy rash but he gets quite constipated sometimes and really pushes doing a poo so ends up with a red bottom, i use e45 nappy cream, johnstones nappy cream or just vaseline.

hope your all well

Yep he's proper strolling about now ;) he looks way to tiny to be walking bless him!!!
The cream the doctor prescribed seems to have done the trick, almost all cleared up  he's still pooing quite a bit though :(
Off to take him to the crèche at our local children's centre for an intro as I'm doing a paediatric first aid course there on Thursday, really hope he's ok in there last time he cried but he was alot younger so fingers crossed he is ok this time
Hope everyone is doing well xx

Hi everyone
newbie mummy here! LO was born on Sunday, I'm finding it rather overwhelming but loving it at the same time. The hardest bit is lack of sleep as LO isn't taking to a moses basket too well, also I have raised blood pressure which went up again today so may have to be readmitted to hospital which I am dreading. Off to doctor at 4.20pm to review BP medication. Did anyone else have thi problem?

LO had heel prick test today and was weighed and has lost 7% of her birth weight so we're doing OK. Midwife told me that she is feeding really well and baby is doing great, so that's good, just got to get thus BP under control. I'm so tired that doesn't help either.

Looking forward to getting to know you all

Sasha....I'm ok thank you :thanx: Millie is doing really well. Apart from not sleeping too well at night in Moses basket. She prefers to cuddle me it appears. I'm so so tired and look it too. Iv spent today indoors having cuddles with her and naps together. I see you are not sleeping too well either :headache Its really draining isn't it? Have you seen your DR? Hi everyone,
I can totally sympathise with the lack of sleep, we are having trouble with it also!!
Not sure if its teething, but DS is being very clingy to me and wakes up all night shouting mum mum mum!!! Bless him!!! He has always been a good sleeper so a bit of a shock to the system now!! Although I am really enjoying our 1am, 3am and 6am cuddles in bed!!! ;)
Any plans for the weekend ladies?
We are off to the cinema tomorrow night and DS is having his first sleep out at his grandparents!!! :S
Slightly anxious about it, but on the other hand looking forward to a lie in Sunday ;)

Hi girls

welcome net, the first weeks are hard but ull get there, have you tried swaddling, my ds was exactly the same, we had a moses basket for the day and a crib at night, the moses basket wasn't too bad he would sleep for maybe 30min but hated the crib, i'm convinced it was having too much space and swaddling was a god send, then when he moved to his own room the problem started again but i put a pillow in with him under a duvet so he can't get to it and it works a treat (well it did until teething ruined it lol)

cheenab - my ds is the same wants to be with mummy all the time, but them i have him all day and night when my dh is working so it's to be expected, it can be worrying leaving them i was the same, now i look forward to it, it's nice to get a little break.

well i'm feeling slightly better than i did this morning, silly little things getting to me because i'm tried and overthinking about going back to work and got my app today to see the gynacologist for my prolapse so that's playing on my mind as there is a 3 month recovery, i would really like a quite life sshh

hope your all well, wouldn't it be nice if we all lived near each other

Hi and welcome Net! Congrats again lovely Lia :) My two didn't like their Moses basket either, tinkers!

Hope the sleepover goes well Cheenab, have fun, what are you going to watch, I really want to see Les Mis and the Hobbit.

Could it be stress related Sasha? Not really much help i know, but i have periods ALL the time and whenever i go to the docs thats always the first question they ask!!!!

Well DS first sleepover was successful (ish!!!) mummy started bawling when she got in the car after leaving him there!!! Dp's response "I knew you would be like this" so supportive ay!!! Men!!!
We did end up having a good evening out though, we watched this is 40 it was actually really good :)
We didnt go to collect ds till lunchtime today, i got the biggest tightest hug when i picked him up!!!
He seems really unsettled tonight though when i have put him down, hes full of a cold at the moment so not sure if its related to that but he was actually screaming really high pitched :(

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend xx

DD is really suffering with her teeth and I am feeling quite stressed!! She has slept or half an so far today, projectile vomited, had an explosive poo and screams when ever I leave the room!!There was so much sick i took a picture to show DH! It could be a bug I suppose but she was sick on Friday too and fine all weekend. I tried teething powders today, how do i get them in her mouth without making a mess???
We have just been to .mcDonalds for a drive through cup of Tea as I knew they would both fall asleep and I could have cuppa in peace. It's been months since i have done that but I feel a bit more chilled now, DD is in bed and DS is curled up on the sofa with me. Teeth have alot to answer for!

Cheenab hope your little man is better soon.

Kittenlove I have ezpressed enough today for one feed that my husband might do later if Lia will take a bottle. She had a little formula this morning so I could sleep in a bit too. Really don't want to give up BF but it is so so full on isn'ty it. Lia cluster feeds all night, I thought my nipple was about to go up in flames last night!! Lia was weighed today and is 35g short of her birth weight on day 10 so pleased with that especially as she was so tiny. My BP is back to normal as well so discharged by the midwives finally! Health visitor tomorrow, not sure what to expect really.

Hope you get some sleep tonight, it's so debilitating isn't it. I also just sit/sleep on the sofa, once my stitches are healed am going to try and get out each day. Can't really walk too far at the moment and it's sooo cold isn't it!

All the best, might see you on the forum in the wee small hours! Xxx

Dusky ,She is still not really liking her Moses basket  Last night she wouldn't go in it at all! Today we slept for almost two hours on the sofa together zzzz My DH is popping out tonight to do some DIY for a friend and is taking her with him so i will get a bit of a break :tired: ........

Net....the health visitor will do what the midwives did but will also ask a lot of questions about how you are feeling mentally. She also will go through the baby red book and future checks needed for baby. My health visitor is lovely and very helpful. She calls to see if I'm getting enough sleep and gives ideas to help make things easier. :xxx3:

Thanks all, kitten love did you get any sleep yesterday? We had a small breakthrough last night and lia slept in her moses basket all night just getting up for a feed every three hours. I had insomnia though as constantly listening out for her! She snuffles and squeaks in her sleep like a farmyard animal! She sounds very snotty/mucousy, thinking of trying some saline nose drops.has anyone else tried these? But feeling much more rested today just from being able to close my eyes. Hope it wasn't a one off.

Thanks for the information on the health visitor, hope I like mine, she sounded quite matronly on the phone!

Thanks again all.hope all those unwell little ones are feeling better soon.

Millie makes those noises too whilst she asleep. We call her little bird as that's what she sounds like. She also sounds snuffly too as Lia does! We bought the saline nose stuff but haven't used it yet.

Oh Cheenab that is a tough one!! Lots of people will tell you what has worked for them but we have tried everything with DS and nothing has worked. We made the decision to sit with him for the 5 mins that it takes him to get off to sleep, as we had months of no evenings because the whole evening was spent trying to settle him. DD on the otnerhand is text book! Most of the tie she settles fine on her own and crys for a few minutes before going to sleep. On the odd occasion we had to go in to her and rub her back but not often. With DS we used to cuddle him downstairs to get him to sleep, what would Gin Ford say, hey!! ::P This probably hasn't been much help but just do what suits your family, I am sure lots of people will be along to disagree with me!,x

Thank you jasper :D
Although Zachary has always been quite a good sleeper he's never been able to 'settle' himself if he wakes, he generally needs a cuddle to get him to nod off, his afternoon nap consists of a blanket and a cuddle with me on the sofa till he dozes off!! Then I take him up to his cot. Today though he was having none of it, he kept dozing off but when I put him in the cot he would just wake!! He done it like 3 times!! In the end I just gave up gettin him to sleep and let him play, but he was definetly tired and was being really grumpy because of it!!
Dp usually let's him fall asleep on the sofa at night after his milk then takes him up!!
But just lately he keeps waking during the night, obviously he's not been well so that has played a part in it, I just feel we are getting our self into a bad routine as 9 times out of 10 he ends up in our bed and we fall asleep having a cuddle, and I wake in the morning half hanging out the bed as this tiny little human being seems to take up the whole bed rotf
Just don't know what to do for the best. I hate hearing him cry, but I really don't know what to try. xxx

Cheenab, it is really hard, I absolutely haed the idea of it, thought there was no way dd1 would get it but she did. In our old house you could hear everything everywhere so I put headphones in, DH was listening out, doesn't bother them as much does it. By the third night she was straight to sleep, I couldn't believe it, I was in shock! Good luck hon xxxxx

Hi girls

cheenab - you sound like your doing a fab job, i have been trying the controlled crying but i last 5 min and give in, my ds gets in such a tizz and starts choking and sobbing.

the last few nights haven't been great for us, my ds has gone to bed well but started waking up but when i lift him he's sleeping in seconds, i put him back down and that's him for mybe 30-60min and it starts over again, teething has become a huge problem and now is nose is almost running off his face, not sure if that's linked to teething or a cold, any teething solutions other than calpol and teething salts?
the last few nights ds has slept in with me because i'm so tired, i don't want to start bad habits but what else do you do.

hope your all well and having a nice weekend

Sasha my DS, really roars!! He isn't a big cryer so it sounds awful, but a few nights on I really think he's getting the hang of it!!! Dp done it last night, so DS was trying to push him a bit because he's such a softy!! But he got there in the end!!!
A friend of mine told me she didn't pick her son up she just went in and said good night after 5mins of him crying, but I always pick DS up give him a hug and kiss and say good night, and it seems to work.
It's all trial and error I guess, just find what works for you xx

Hi all
Hope your Leo's are sleeping a bit better Cheenab and Sasha.
Hi dusky yes I was on as Lia has decided she doesn't want to sleep at night still as she is so mucous she sounds like she is choking. She coughs and splutters and sneezes and looks really uncomfortable, lots of grimacing etc. Did anyone else have this problem? I have used saline nose drops but they don't seem to work. Last night she was up all night long, I am exhausted! Not helped by meeting my nct class where all their babies sleep from 10pm to 7am! So jealous!

I have raised the Moses basket head up too. Any other ideas?!

Hi girls

net - my friends dd is 5 weeks old how breathing is awful to the extent i thought there was something wrong but her hv said it was fine, you can get vix for babies (it's not actually vix but the same idea) it's ment to be from 3 months plus but my friend put a wee bit on a tissue and attached it to her cot and it has made a huge difference at night.

cheenab - how was last night? i can't believe my ds has had 2 teeth since 4 months but the rest seem to be struggling to come though they are a nightmare, as for night time crying it's draining and i know i'm getting into a bad habit taking my ds into bed with me but it's a guarantee that he will sleep.

how is everyone else?
