my plug was jelly like  and was clear with a yellowish tinge, it was like....when you get a bowl of jelly and mix it up till it breaks into tiny pieces, then add a bit of ewcm, thats what mine was like :D lovely eh?

go and have some nooky, if your plug is gone that should help to soften your cervix and maybe get you started.

love k xxx

with spud it there was quite a lot of it, sort of golf ball size ....and with H it was a small show, only half that maybe but i lost more whilst i was in labour, and then it was more like the stuff they stick credit cards to letters with, very gloopy. omg it sounds so gross :snigger:
Both times i went into labour less than 24 hours later but it isnt the case with everyone.

are you enjoying your cleaning??? :D

i never did nesting, dh was gutted :snigger:

Sounds like it could be a show. You may not get any more, or you may get some on and off for the next few days. An increase in white/milky/sticky discharge is also common. It doesn't necessarily mean labour is starting, but is a good sign the body is preparing.

Yes - I did have a bit more last night.
My Braxton Hicks are quite strong but not painful at all, so don't think labour is that close but I do so wish it was.
I hope so much for a natural birth.
I hae agreed with my cons that I wouldn't be induced again but thta would obviously mean another section if I was v late.

Oh no, going overdue is a nightmare isn't it. I am trying to convince myself that my due date is at 42 weeks so I don't get myself in that frame of mind. Also I am going to try and avoid all those 'have you had it yet' phone calls, as if I would have the baby and not tell anyone!

Its obviously too comfy in there!

Hi Knighty

Are you going to give your midwife a call?

It does sound as though it could be part of your attractively named mucus plug (or show), but I don't think it's cause for concern as I've heard it can break down and reform many times.

It could also just be CM. I keep getting 'seeping' feelings and panicking, but so far it's just creamy stuff – nice!

Could the burning feeling be a UTI and unconnected to the jelly stuff? Might be best to check that out too.

Let us know how you get on.

Panic ye not. It will most certainly 'not' contain veins. Shows vary from clear, honey coloured, snotty, mucousy, tinged with red, pink or brown blood, stretchy, blobby or like thick wallpaper paste.

It's just a blob of mucus that seals the cervix and forms a nice plug that stops bugs from tracking up through your cervix during your pregnancy. It's unlikely that all of yours has come away, more likely that just part of it has worked its way loose. It doesn't mean that you're going to go into labour imminently so don't worry.

RE: jelly goop - plug??

Hi Poppit! What you're describing definitely sounds like show. It means that your cervix is getting ready for labour, but not necessarily imminently. Some women have show several days before labour starts properly, others don't have any until labour is established. But it means you're getting there!!! Hope it's soon!!

Yep sounds like a start, I had the same, then the next day a bigger glop, then over the next 3-4 days more bits coming away. The process for me came away in stages over a week or so, I was amazed how big the plug must be, I was told by my obstetrician your getting near the inside of the plug coming away once the glops are very slightly pinkish.. good luck hope it happens soon! Getting exciting now :-)

Mucus plug questions

Hi,

I have noticed my discharge getting thicker/creamier lately, but this morning, i seemed to have more coming out that i noticed when i was lying in bed and when i went to the loo and wiped it was a slightly darker colour and there was a small bit of jelly stuff...but only small. I showed it to my dh who said it was definitely jellyish and the colour of discharge was definitely tinged with brown.....

....is this my mucus plug beginning to come out? Can it come out really gradually? Other people i know who say they have had a show say it is an obvious gloopy jelly thing....so am wondering if mine is or not? I have slight period pains on and off and braxton hicks.

Its such a confusing time as when you haven't been here before you just don't know what is what!!!

Any advice is welcome :D

I had small lumps of mucous coming out over about a 3 week period running up to going into labour I think it can come out and reform a few times. My first sign I was actually going into labour was my waters breaking.

Nothing much else to report - just normal amount of discharge but its definitely darker in colour now. Am getting lots of braxton hicks now and feel a little period painy down below....I so hope this is the beginning - i know it might happen over a few days but as long as it is beginning to happen i will be happy :D

I'm going to have a read back of this thread now....
