Hi there all - haven't been on for weeks but thought i'd pop by to say congratulations to Booboo and Harry! Booboo sorry to hear that your birth was so traumatic - I must say that you sound very philosophical about it now though. Lydia is a beautiful name. Well done for persevering with the breastfeeding. Harry - what a time of it you had too - sounds like Zac's thriving and it's great to hear your feeling so positive and taking things one step at a time. AFM - not on here much as i said but do ...
Wow thanks Ros - great to hear that the pump works well - will PM you about the bottles!
Hi there I just wondered what others thoughts are - I am 33 weeks with twins - one is breech and the other is head down (unless they''ve moved again!) - I don't know yet whether I will be having a caesarian or not - I have some raspberry leaf tea which I was keen to start but because one is breech not sure whether I should start taking it? Any advice? Nat x
Hi quick question - I am planning to express so that some of the feeds can be done by OH, I have a medela freestyle pump but have no idea what bottles / teats to use? Any thoughts? Thanks Nat x
Hi Hayley I'll let you know in about 8 weeks time!! I plan to but let's see... I also plan to express so that OH or someone else can feed too. Breastfeeding's rammed down your throat a little here (not literally!) at my antenatal class the midwife said that babies need nothing, no bottles or dummies only breast - I thought that could make you feel awful if you can't for one reason or another...
Jensqui - Martha is soooo cute - what a gorgeous little girl you have there! AG & Daisy - I just had some delivered and was hoping there'd be instructions but no luck - there are liners - you get both disposable (often biodegradable that you just chuck in the loo) that I think you're meant to use each time and also thicker liners for nights, trips out or very wet babies so I'm hoping I'll only need to soak the really gunky nappies before washing them? Nat x
Hi there thought I'd pop in and say hello to everyone... am 30 weeks this week which feels like a big milestone for some reason! I can't really keep up with the forum - hats off to all of you who can stay on top of it, I think it's the speed of a forum is just to much for my ancient nappy brain, although I do have a look most days - glad to see everyone's doing pretty ok. Things seem to be moving quickly now, I had my first antenatal class today and was dead chuffed that I managed to understand ...
Hey Jen What planning! Sounds like a good idea to try out some different cloth ones with L now and then you'll have a better idea of which ones you like and don't for your next LO. Some companies do trial kits of different nappies, liners etc... I just googled them and babykind has different offers like you can hire a trial kit or you can buy one with a moneyback deal if you don't get on with them... I've bought mine now and am waiting for them to be delivered (feel daft as I am quite excited!!)...
Hi there - i've been looking into this too not only for the eco impact but the cost too - I think I am going to opt for some one size birth to potty too but am getting my knickers in a knot as I don't know whether I'll need newborn / tiny fit too. There was a real nappy campaign last week and some companies are doing promotions - bum genius newborn nappies are BOGOF at the moment and many nappies have a 20 % discount eg see Bumgenius Promotions. I'm rather in love with the tots bots easyfit with...
Congratualtions Divebuddy being 40 is fab - great news about the BFP too! Nat x
Hi Mum - sorry your having such a rough time - I don't know anything about it really but there was quite a lot of chat about managing it with several members on the third trimester chat board from January this year on - Geordie and Aramass maybe? Hope you get some tips and relief hun. x
Hi everyone Hey Stace - I hope you're enjoying your lunch out with the girls especially now you've got your appetite back- I love hearing the heartbeats it amazes me every time I hear them. How exciting feeling your little one move. If it's like nothing else it's bound to be - I found it quite weird to start with but quite lovely at the same time! Rocky - I bought some maternity trousers in my normal size at around 15 weeks they're very comfortable but still fall down I don't think they'll ever ...
Amazing how much is done on the basis of measurements that can't be accurate - a week out is a lot when we are hanging on to every sign of development, Flic - 6lb 11 oz is a lovely size! Bells - I think I'm going to quote your guess the weight/measurement test to my midwife - I wonder what she'll say! Moonshine - I haven't gone back to the swimming class yet as OH has had my car for work but if the weather stays nice I might even go down to the beach which is about five minutes walk - I'll defin...
Hey Taxi - that's great - so good to have that reassurance and good news that you don't have placenta praevia. Now you can chill for the rest of the week. It's lovely that DH was so understanding and booked you in for that scan.
Hi guys LOL Bells - thank you - it's good to have a laugh about it - it makes me more relaxed, you're right how can they say what is too big or too small based on my uterus! I just don't feel right not doing exercise and will as you say and go back to eating and exercising sensibly. Hi Sazzle I'm so glad to hear that you and your babies are doing well and that you are getting encouragement for doing exercise - 48 weeks wow - but being that we're having two we should be double the 'normal' single...
Hi Moonshine Thank you for your message - I found it really reassuring. It is interesting that there is no standard measurement for the uterus in twin pregnancies - it is also really interesting that an increased weight gain reduces likelihood of early labour. After my 20 week scan they booked me in for the next at 31 weeks which really shocked me so I think I'm going to go for a private one or two and I'll ask the doctor then. This midwife does seem preoccupied with banging on about food withou...
Hi all - going a bit stir crazy here - I had an appointment with my midwife 2 weeks ago, she weighed me and listened to the heartbeats and looked at my belly. She told me that my uterus is the same size as a 7month uterus and based on that and my weight gain (7kg since pregnant and my BMI was within normal range then) alone she said that I needed to rest more with my feet up and not do so much as I could start having contractions. I was doing some pregnancy exercise classes half and hour twice a...
Hi Chris - how nice to hear such good news from and older mum/grandmum....It must have been an interesting time for you being an older mum in the 70's. As for children keeping you young at the rate you're going you'll overtake your gran's aunt! I am really hoping now that the twins are going to turn back the clock and I'll start losing my wrinkles! Nat x
Cheers Booboo - I'd been looking for that list too! Very useful
Hey all been out of action a few weeks as had visitors staying and didn't risk leaving FZ on the computer as noone knows I had IVF! Interesting reading all the BF chat - cheers for posting all the info Chillimint and Caz - I hadn't really thought about groups or classes but after reading all your posts - I might check out one I saw a flyer for the other day. Funnily had just been checking out feeding cushions and breastpumps on line - ebay seem way to go but I'm a bit worried about the hygeine o...
