Metformin to lose weight without prescription

My Professor prescribed me metformin slow release (2 x 500g with my evening meal) last March. I don't have diabetes or PCOS but I am overweight. I didn't really lose loads of weight but it certainly has helped my fertility. I have been lucky enough to experience 3 natural pregnancies since starting the met so for me it has been a great help. As the girls have said before me, please don't take any drugs without professional advice.

Metformin s/r & pregnancy - PLEASE HELP???......

Thank you so much - Spangle, Lisa, Rene, Chilli & Bluey for taking the time to post with a response... really appreciate it. I managed to get myself an appointment with a lovely Duty Doctor at 10:40 this morning who listened to me gabble on at 100miles an hour and then gave me a prescription for the Metformin s/r to last me until Friday when I have my appointment and scan with my Professor. I'm really not sure if I am right or wrong to be taking them but I just needed to get through 'til Friday ...

Metformin s/r & pregnancy - PLEASE HELP???......

Hey everyone.. wonder if I could pick your brains please? My private fertility Professor put me on (2 x 500mg tabs each evening) Metformin s/r (slow release) back in March this year (I don't have pcos or diabetes but was given them for infertility).. I've had had 2 natural pregnancies since starting and attribute both to the drug. My first pregnancy in May ended at just under 7 weeks, when no sac was present at the early scan and I subsequently miscarried. I carried on taking the Metformin throu...

ASPIRIN ASPRIN

Thanks very much for asking that question Jaid, I was pondering over whether to start taking it or not.... Thanks Eeyore for responding and clarifying - you really are the wisest of all wise ones...... xx.... I won't be going down that route either - I think I'm going to leave our next treatment to luck and Mother Nature... no accupuncture, no eating extra this or extra that (well, maybe just a bit of extra protein and drinking lots of water and milk) but nothing other than if it is meant to be ...

Metformin and Assisted Hatching ??!??!!?

Thank you so much Tracey, Tracey, Lisa & Addy.... very, very much appreciated advice. xxx Not relishing those side effects at all, but gotta do what I've gotta do I guess - just rather embarrasing at work when you have an upset tum... but I'll just have to see how I respond. I have clockwork 28 day cycles, no diabetes and no pcos so a bit confused why I'm being prescribed metaformin but I guess Prof has his reasons. I am, however, very excited about the weight loss and hopefully the positive out...

Metformin and Assisted Hatching ??!??!!?

Hi everyone Quick update from me. Had a private consultation with our Prof this morning. He ran through all my recent blood test results, NK Cells - normal, Thyroid - normal, in fact, all 16 of the blood tests were in normal range. So, next step is for me to start on "Metfornim" to help me lose some weight.... (bit bizarre when all along I have been told that weight doesn't effect fertility, I have no PCOS symptoms). He tells us that it is proven to aid conception so happy to give it a whirl. DH...
