PCOS & Treatment

At my initial referral to Rfc (about 5 years ago) I was advised to loose weight. I yo-yoed for years. BMI must be below 35 for any treatment at Rfc. Treatment options depend on many other factors including age, other issues (?male factor), previous children etc. For me I was started on clomid (was on this over 1 year). Then I had 4 iui and then I went to origin and had ivf (while on waiting list for ivf at Rfc). Ivf at origin was successful (DD). I’m now pregnant (4 years later) after 3rd icsi a...

GCRM/Access Fertility

Hi Marie, I used access fertility with gcrm. We bought the three cycles and glad we did as we are currently in tww of cycle 3. We had numerous frozen cycles within the package too (included in price). The package offers refund if you don’t have live birth. So even if you achieve pregnancy but it doesn’t work out you have your remaining chances left. On the other hand if it works first time and you deliver a healthy baby you loses the rest of you chances as such! Hope that makes sense!!

Logan wellbeing

I too considered maya massage but upon speaking with others (also posted the question here) I decided to give it a miss. When I asked at clinic they told me (more or less) that it’s a money racket! We will try anything but it’s not something I could sustain so opted for reflexology instead xx

What stage is everyone at now? And how's it going? Miss the chats on here x

Hi curl sorry to hear things didn’t work out. Yes they consider it a full cycle once eggs are collected. That’s the case for RFC and GCRM. You could try to argue that your cycle should have been cancelled due to poor response (this has happened to me on several occasions). You could also ask why they didn’t get to other ovary (this has happened to me at every egg collection (4 in total). It seems to disappear. But were they aggressive enough? When I had my first cycle at origin they had to pierc...

RFC, GCRM or abroad for round 2?

HI Martha, With my first cycle with rfc my cycle was cancelled due to poor response. After that I then had to wait for review appt (3 weeks later). At this appt I was told prob best to loose weight (don’t know why I wouldn’t have been advised this before). Anyway 6 months later I then had next cycle. I had 14 eggs, 9 usable, 6 fertilised and 2 made it to 5 day transfer. So non to freeze. Compared to GCRM. First cycle 16 collected, 9 usable/ fertilised. Advised to do freeze all. 6 frozen. Two tra...

RFC, GCRM or abroad for round 2?

Hi martha Sorry to hear your treatment didn’t work. I had similar experience myself. Last year at rfc I had fresh transfer of two good embryos (none to freeze). I too had a positive test which ended up also being a chemical. I’ve had BFN’s, blighted ovum but nothing comes close to how I felt after the chemical. Like you I never thought such a thing could happen. I never contemplated going privately with RFC. To be honest I don’t know why anyone would when there are other options. I went to GCRM ...

Maya Massage

Thanks wannabe. That’s a lot of £££. Couldn’t afford it but I would try my best to get it saved if I thought it would make a difference! Do u mind saying who your consultant is, or even your clinic? I’m with GCRM and when I asked receptionist at maya clinic she said they work “hand in hand” with GCRM. Haven’t spoken with GCRM yet to see what they say but with my last cycle I did acupuncture and when I told Dr T at the review appt he shrugged and said no proof it’s of benefit. Think I’ll ask GCRM...

Maya Massage

Hi girls, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Maya massage? I am about to embark on my third and final ivf and considered trying it (in for a penny and all that!). I made initial enquiries though and it seems very expensive. £180 for consultation. They claim to increase success rates to 92% when used with IVF. Sounds like a bit of a bizarre claim to me but hard not to be tempted to find out more. Would be interested to hear if anyone else looked into it/tried it. Thanks ladies xx

Clomid at RFC

I do find dr McManus a bit "funny". Sometimes comes across a bit heartless. You could always ask them to let u try one more round again if the 150 doesn't work first time. I hope it doesn't come to that though xx

Clomid at RFC

Girls just wanted to say when I did clomid I thought I was never going to ovulate but stick with it. I also have pcos. Needed probers. 50 no response. 100 no response. 150 no response. Doc said we will try another month at 150 and bam there was one nice big folly. After a few months of 150 we got pregnant (ended with m/c) but it did happen. I hope this gives you hope x

Anyone starting ivf at Belfast rfc any time soon?

Girls...help. As some of you may know I had double embryo transfer of two blasts in 15th Feb. 7 days post transfer I got a positive on a first response and a pregnant 1-2 on clear blue. 2 days later I took my period (on day it was due). It was heavier than normal and lots of clots (sorry for tmi). I've had chemicals before so assumed it had happened again. I went ahead to get hcg measured at 12days post transfer (I had made this appointment myself when I got my first positive. My hcg was 76. Whe...

Clomid at RFC

Hi Gracey, I have PCOS, also wasn't ovulating so the first treatment they tried me with was clomid. You get your script from the GO. They start you off on lowest does (50mg) which you take for (if I recall correctly for 7 days) from day 1 of your period. They can give privets if needed to get period started. They will then bring you in for scan (or several) to confirm you are ovulation. If you are then they keep you in that dose and hope u strike it lucky. If not they will try 100 then 150 dose....

Yoga so sorry to hear that. I didn't make it to OTD.Af has arrived. Had a positive on few days leading up to it so looks like it was a chemical which guts me even more.
