** THIRD TRIMESTER CHAT **

inik on the birth of your daughter. So pleased to hear she is safely here. Was it natural or did you have to be induced? I think that completes all the arrivals for our little 3rd tri group. Didn't we do well!! We are loving our new life with our DD. My labour was ridiculously fast. I was induced and from them starting the hormone drip I had 1hr 25mins of very strong contractions and then just 8 mins of pushing before she arrived! I asked for an epidural but the aneathetist didn't get there in ...

It's a girl!!! So so happy to announce our DD, Talitha Hope, was born at 9.33pm on weds 18th Dec. Only got home this evening at 5.00pm and you'll see by the time of this entry that things are a bit crazy already! Will post more when I feel able but all is well. Am just so relieved she is here safely and that after 7yrs of waiting our dream of a child is finally reality! Inik - hope you aren't kept waiting too long for your LO. Any news on baby Curly yet? No sign of mine yet Inik. I was admitted yesterday at 4pm. They examined me and I was 1-2cm dilated already so they said i'd go to delivery suite to have waters broken and start on drip. 24hrs layer we're still waiting for a room on delivery suite. Totally bored now!! Hopefully won't be too much longer. Is baby curly here yet? Hang on in there Inik. Won't be too much longer hun.

Oh wow! Sending you all best wishes Curly for a smooth, safe and quick delivery Curly. Will be thinking of you later. So close to having that baby in your arms now. I go in to be induced on Tuesday and I guess you could be any day now Inik. Hope you are feeling ok. This part is weird with a strange blend of excitement and fear! Looking forward to hearing all the news. Take care ladies xxx

nervous about how i'll cope with delivery after previous loss

Thank you both so much for your replies. Knew you'd understand. Up until last weeks scan was convinced i'd be having a c-section as my placenta had been low all along. Now it has shifted so can go for normal delivery. Was almost a bit disappointed as having a section would have meant the delivery would be a totally different experience to before. Am coming round to the idea of a natural delivery but just know it will feel like an eternity before that 1st cry! Also just really hope I get understa...

Curly that's a shame you're back in hospital but so good that they have been monitoring you so well that this has been picked up. Like inik said your LO is so far along now that arriving a bit early shouldn't make a difference. Would be worth asking a midwife if it would be useful to try expressing any milk but it might be a bit early for you. Good job you had your bag packed! Well done on the extra sleep Inik! Know what you mean though about waking up too early! Me and DH have just finished put...

Hi ladies Hope all is well with you all. Just wanted to come on here and share my rather proud achievement today (seriously couldn't share this with anyone other than DH!). I had been advised totet and express some milk before baby is born. With the gestational diabetes baby's blood sugar could be quite low when born so will need extra feeds and I might not be able to meet demand. Therefore advice is to have a stash of frozen syringes to give as top ups rather than having to use formula. Was ver...

nervous about how i'll cope with delivery after previous loss

Hi everyone Just wanted to start this thread to look for a bit of support/reassurance from people who may have had/are in a similar situation to me. I am currently 36w5d pregnant with our rainbow baby. I'm being induced at 38 weeks due to gestational diabetes but am starting to get very nervous about the birth. In March 2012 I was 21 weeks pregnant with twins when I went into pre-term labour and both our babies died. They were healthy until the point of delivery but never took a breath. Deliveri...

Hi ladies Still thinking of you Splodgeface. Hope you're not too uncomfortable and things get moving soon hun! You must be getting bored of waiting now! Wow Shirlz, what a couple of days you've had! Good that you're being monitored. Do you have to go back for more checks? How are your blood sugars doing? My appointment went extremely well thanks. The growth scan was perfect. Placenta has shifted clear of the "exit" so no longer need a planned c-section. All measurements very close to average lin...

Inik your post made me smile! That is some serious nesting if you painted your living room and cleaned your carpets!! Well done on completing your "to do" list. I'm like you though. If/when I reach that glorious point I'll just add more jobs to it! Yesterday I cooked enough meals for the freezer to last us 2 weeks. Was exhausting but the house did smell good. Todays major task is to wrap all the christmas presents that have arrived so far but still got another amazon delivery to come. Not got a ...

Hi all Splodgeface - thinking of you hun!! Not heard from you for a while. Hope everything is well. Assuming baby hasn't made an appearance I guess it really could be any day now!!! Best of luck with everything, hope it is all "smooth sailing" as they say Shirlz - what a complicated sounding lot of results/symptoms!! Excellent news that the growth rate has slowed down. Would have been worrying if it had stayed on 90th centile or higher! For me, using google is often a mixed blessing. Hope you ha...

Hi Shirlz - good to hear from you! Is frustrating when they put you on the medication so quickly. It's like they expect you to become an instant expert!! I had to wait 4 weeks from my GTT until I saw the dietitian by which time I'd figured the diet out pretty much. I'm on Metformin too. Hopefully that'll be it for me now although I do have a friend with GD who is now on insulin injections. The blood testing doesn't really bother me or hurt, am just getting dry skin on my finger tips. Sounds like...

Hi all Thanks for your support about names. Think we will stick with what we've chosen and love Splodgeface I love that you are "in the zone". Makes it sound like you are fired up and ready to go! I can imagine every little twinge would make you think. Are you still managing to sleep? Interesting to hear about the hypnobirthing. I've not really looked into it. The massage sounds heavenly Inik how you doing? Got your bag packed yet? What's the plan for DS when the time comes? Not heard from Shirl...

Oxford Fertility unit and swindon

Hi Erin Welcome to the crazy world of IVF!! I am currently 33 weeks pregnant following our 3rd ICSI cycle, all of which was through Oxford and the Swindon satellite clinic. All together we have been under them for 6 years and have nothing but high praise for the whole team. We are particularly thankful for the care and support from the lovely ladies who run the swindon clinic. Our journey has had incredible highs and lows but they have been incredible. We haven't seen them for a while now but ca...

Freaking out about stopping meds

Hi Lauxy I had a similar situation. Had a FET and had to keep taking 400mg progesterone suppositories (3 a day) and oestrogen tablets until 10 weeks. I too was worried about coming off them suddenly and was surprised that I didn't need to have any sort of test to make sure levels were fine. When I questioned my consultant about it they said the placenta is doing what it needs to do by 10 weeks. I see that you have been told to wait until 12 weeks so that's even longer for the placenta to get wor...

Hello again ladies Just wanted to get your opinion on something. We think we are pretty much decided on names for either a boy or girl but just have one thing that is bothering me about our boys name. Don't really want to give away what it is but the full version of the name rhymes with my oldest nephew's name (my sister's eldest). The shortened version of it that we like doesn't rhyme at all but I know that my parents would call them both by their full names so would have grandchildren's names ...

Posting on Facebook

Hi there! Looks like you've got a lot of support on here already! With our 1st pregnancy we did the whole FB announcement thing with scan pictures and then a few bump pics which, at the time, we loved. Then sadly we lost our twins at 21 weeks. This time around we've been so much more cautious with spreading the news. Didn't tell parents until about 10 weeks and only. Told close friends after 12 weeks. Then just let news trickle around. We haven't put a thing on FB and all our friends and family ...

** THIRD TRIMESTER CHAT **

Hi all!! Have had quite a day of it today! Had breastfeeding class (a one off session run by midwives in my area) straight after lunch then had to drive across town to pick up DH to get over to the hospital for no fewer than 3 appointments!! Had 32 week growth scan 1st. All looking good and measuring well. Was quite a quick scan as they were running late and we couldn't get any pictures today. Then we saw the dietitian to discuss how my diet is going with the gestational diabetes. She was please...
