Anyone over 38 and trying for their first??

Oh Susie, your story is so reassuring and fills me with hope and positivity!! I think a lot of it is to do with mental attitude. If you feel young and positive, then your body will stay young and positive and - hopefully - fertile!! We're always being told that the mind and body are linked after all! Thanks for popping by and loads of luck with the rest of your pregnancy and baby's arrival!!!

Anyone over 38 and trying for their first??

Have a look at this link girls: http://www.mothersover40.com/celebrities.html OK, I think we can accept that some of these, esp the ladies over 45-ish, may have been donor eggs, but not all of them! And I know that celebrities have the money to pay the world's top fertility experts to help them, unlike us mere mortals, but I think it's still very encouraging nonetheless. Del x x x

Anyone over 38 and trying for their first??

Yeah, that's the spirit!! Absolutely positive!! You go girl!! By the way, my cousin in Australia has just had her first baby at the age of 43!!! A perfectly healthy little boy called Max. I might do a list of celebrities on this thread who've had babies over the age of 38! It's just so very encouraging I find.

Anyone over 38 and trying for their first??

Hi Pooch, Welcome to the thread. God, it's incredible isn't it that people can be so insensitive and tactless? I would never ask such a question either. That's what I hate about this; people seem to assume that if you haven't got kids at our age, it's cos you've chosen not to have them or aren't even trying - like we can click our fingers and be pregnant in an instant, if only! If someone asked me that question, I think I'd be so incensed that I'd probably answer "well we've lost three babies in...

Anyone over 38 and trying for their first??

Hi girls, Wow Abby, you met Queen Zita!! I'd love to have a consultation with her. She is very big on diet and let's face it, she knows her stuff about helping people get pregnant. I have two of her books. I'm so pleased I started this thread cos it's a good place for us oldies (sorry!!) to talk about our situations and how we feel about the age thing. I for one will continue getting pregnant until I have a pregnancy that's successful. But after losing 3 babies in 14 months, I'm def taking a few...

Anyone over 38 and trying for their first??

Hi Abby, I have only just seen your post. You are the same as me. I didn't start trying until I was turned 38. Before that, I just didn't feel ready. Why I didn't feel ready until I was 38 is anyone's guess, but there's no point lookin back and saying "I should've done things differently" cos we can't change it now, it's done and dusted. It sounds like you are with a lovely man now and seem very happy. That is, above all else, the most important thing. Having kids is a bonus on top of that. Load...

Baby measuring 2.6mm - too small for dates??

Thanks girls! Willow, it's def not annoying to me when people post whats happened to them - I find it reassuring, and really hope what happened to you happens to me too!! Thank you for telling me cos it really has reassured me that this can happen. x Thanks too Mrs Smiff, Missy and 1xbabypls! x They have booked me in for another scan next Monday morning. I'm hoping so much that baby is having a growth spurt in there this week and that the next scan will bring good growth and a heartbeat. Also fo...

Baby measuring 2.6mm - too small for dates??

Ah thanks Bells! That really makes sense and I need someone to talk sense into me!! It's just a case of not being able to think straight when you are so anxious about something. Then I get anxious that just being anxious could harm baby!! So I know I've got to really try and be positive. I don't think I'd be so worried had I not already suffered a m/c and an ectopic in the past year. The thought of something going wrong again, and losing a third baby, is just too much to bear. Your post has help...

Baby measuring 2.6mm - too small for dates??

Hi everyone, Does anyone have any experience of going for an early scan only to be told that the baby measures smaller than the dates suggest it should? I had thought I was 6 weeks and 4 days on Monday (based on when I ovulated - see below), but had an early scan (due to my last pregnancy in March being ectopic) which fantastically showed the baby in the right place, so not ectopic, but only measuring 2.6mm. By all accounts, baby should measure about 5mm by this point. It's poss my dates are out...

A little worried about sudden cramping

Mich, sorry to hear you've been worried by this. Agree with Sarah, it's prob uterus stretching. Also I def second what Qwerty said, if it's not accompanied by any bleeding then try not to read too much into it. If it happens again, phone your EPU or clinic for advice, or even NHS Direct. I would say avoid lifting anything at all unless it's very light. Difficult I know when you're just trying to get on with the day to day!! Try not to worry, I'm sure everything's fine. But do relax and don't do ...

You def have the right attitude! Keep trying and hoping. You will get there sooner or later. Obviously we all want it to happen sooner rather than later, but sometimes MN has other plans and we have to be patient!! Loads and loads of luck. xxx

Anyone over 38 and trying for their first??

HI Picowitch, Thanks for posting on my thread. It's weird isn't it how some of us don't get the maternal feelings until much later. I just didn't want a baby until I was 38 and then suddenly I wanted one straight away!! Totally irrational! Sorry to hear about your blocked tube and cyst. Is there anything they can do to clear the tube? Well if not, don't lose heart and never give up. Mother Nature works in strange ways.... I found out I was pregnant again last Friday - in the just first month of ...

How pregnant are you after 2ww?

Definitely 4 weeks as the others have said! I think with tx, you date it from EC and add on 2 weeks. It's the same with a natural cycle. You would date the pregnancy from the date of ovulation, and add 2 weeks. This is because not everyone ovulates exactly 14 days after the first day of AF. The general rule for dating from the first day of last AF is because not everyone knows the exact date of ovulation. But if you do know it, it's better to date it from then, and add 2 weeks. Hope that makes s...

Anyone over 38 and trying for their first??

Thanks ladies - and Kski! - for all your replies. It's good to hear from others in the same boat. I keep trying to be positive and telling myself that there are plenty of women who get pregnant at this age, and older. I just wish I was 35 again and had a few more years grace. Oh well, as you say Radha, I can't change the past, but I can change the future and I know I need to focus on that. The media don't help. The papers have you believe that your fertility quite literally dive bombs off a clif...
