** FIRST TRIMESTER CHAT **

Hi Tinyteacher, I just wanted to say, im now 12wks + 1. Im due my 12 week scan on monday 17th and cant wait! ive had every bug you can think of recently, gastrointeritis, followed by a cough and now a cold. ** FIRST TRIMESTER CHAT **

Hi Shelbie, im 11 weeks pregnant this week and took my letter to my GP's about 4 weeks ago,and heard nothing. So i rang two weeks ago and nothing had happened! they just filed my letter from Barts. Anyway I spoke to a Dr and she has referred me to a hospital (there and then cos of xmas) and i actually found out yesterday that you get allocated a midwife at around 11 weeks. So i should hear this week. Im not sure if this is the same all around the UK. I believe there are certain blood tests that ...

Very happy it worked for you though, good to hear the IVF stories that do work. Will update here when i can again, but got all my bits crossed too for tomorrow. xx

EGG COLLECTION - General questions

Thanks Babybump and Dancingqueen, EC went ok and we were told they collected 6 eggs, then they called on thursday and we were down to 5. Me and DH were due to go in for the ET yesterday but the clinic called and said we had eggs that had fertilised and were 'very good' so they wanted us to leave the ET until day 5 and go for blastocyst transfer. The only thing is we were told all along that our 2nd cycle we would have 2 embreyos put back, now because of the blastocyst transfer, we will only be a...

Dear All, Have had my final scan today and been told im ready for my EC on weds this week and I cannot wait! Im so excited. Is there any advice anyone can give me to possibly increase my chances of the ICSI working this time? and what should I avoid doing? I've heard dont have hot baths, and to eat certain foods but I was so careful last time and it still failed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Mel xx

MENOPUR QUESTIONS

Hi all, im on my 2nd cycle of IVF and this time have been given Menopur, i've manged ok with the mixing the bottles etc but when I inject in to my leg or tummy the area really puffs/swells up after and stays swollen for over 24 hrs. Right now I have huge red patches on my tummy and legs! Is anyone else experiencing this at all? Where I injected tonight is about the size of a golf ball... thanks Mel x

Hey mum82, my leg has been feeling better today thanks. It was more of an ache, like i've walked for miles (tho i havent) and also been feeling fluey, though that seems to have lifted a bit today too. Yeah i do have a few bruises on my leg where the pain is and also on my stomach but my stomach is fine. I will try and keep my leg raised if i can. BUSERELIN QUESTIONS

Hey mistykins, thanks for replying so quickly. Im on 0.5ml of buserelin but apart from the tiredness and heavy leg i seem to be ok, i've not had any headaches like you had. I wasnt sure whether to be worried or not to be honest. My mum suffered with thrombosis when she was younger (though i've never had it) and I just felt a bit worried about the constant leg ache. I suppose my driving long distance to work probably isnt helping matters. Will try contacting my clinic tomorrow and see what they s...

Side effects of Buserelin

Hi all, Ive been doing the Buserelin Injections for nearly two weeks now, and have experienced a bad leg ache for the last 5 days now and its now getting me down. Im not injecting in that leg, but have been injecting in to my stomach and right leg but I really dont know why its so painful. Ive also been feeling really tired and a bit fluey which I dont remember having any of these symptoms on my last cycle. Has anyone else experienced this? thanks Mel xx

Referral and treatment: Different Financial years

Hi Karen, The whole waiting game does seem to vary within the NHS, we have had ICSI treatment at Barts and ended up waiting nearly 15months for our first go. So all I can suggest is you call your clinic and they should be able to give you some sort of idea of the wait involved. x

I've now told more or less everyone in my office what im going through and the comments of my most senior manager and so far everyone has been very supportive and the same as you gobsmacked at his comments. I wish you all the best with your treatment, let me know how you get on wont you. Maria, i've had my self certification taken away from me for 6 months which is stanard procedure. WORK AND TREATMENT QUESTIONS

Hi Ladies, well it seems im not the only one having trouble taking time off for my next cycle. I work for the biggest organisation in London (I believe) and have now joined the PCS union after my recent experience. I managed to speak to my PCS rep today. She states that the current IVF policy is not really an IVF policy at all and stated she will bring IVF treatment up at the main meeting next year however that maybe too late for me and others that work within my organisation. I am feeling compl...

WORK AND TREATMENT QUESTIONS

Hi Maria, thank you for your quick response, it definitely helps. I've just sorted out a GP appointment so will speak to them and see what they can suggest. My employers have also taken away my self certification for 6 months so if i do go sick at any time (i dont plan to other than for IVF treatment) then I would have to go to my GP any get a sick cert. I may ask my GP to state sick with stress on the sick cert but i'll know more once i talk to my union today hopefully. Thank you for your sugge...

Sickness at work due to IVF

Hi, Im due to start my next course of IVF in september, my last course of treatment failed 6 months ago. My inital managers at work have been supportive however yesterday I was called in my seniour managers who were 'demanding' to know about my IVF treatment, and pulled apart the fact that i'd had 4 periods of sickness in the last year relating to my last IVF treatment. I was told by these senior manager that my 'miscarriage' wasn't infact a miscarriage it was just where the egg didnt implant! H...

IVF timeline

well the latest is we found out today our appeal has been denied on the basis that the 'senior consultant' didnt feel that us waiting 16months for our first IVF due to the various 'admin cock ups' were enough to put to a panel. So all our effort has been wasted yet again. I beginning to feel that the NHS has it in for us. We waited 10 weeks just to hear todays news, and I wouldnt have minded if it had got to a panel and they denied it, least we wouldve felt our case was listened to. So now I gue...

St Bart's hospital London

Im still waiting for my next treatment to take place at Barts, and i have to say they were very good when we had our first treatment in March, however yes we have had a few problems with them, i.e. not responding to emails, and when i miscarried after our first treatment in March my husband rang them and explained what was happening and left a messag with someone to contact us back, no one did. And i think having to wait 8 weeks to see the follow up nurse at Bart after a miscarriage, it was a co...
